Thank you. I’m trying hard to stay honest but with no bias from being a huge brettonio fan. But I will answer your question with yes and no.

It did make a difference because now their feelings are out in the open and I realized when they kissed and before Sylvie stopped it that they are cute. And if this happened back in season 2 or 3, I would have been behind this pair.

But being in season 9, my feelings and the way I watch romances in the show has changed dramatically. And it has nothing to do with Gabby or Antonio. Sylvie and Matt should move on, they are both good characters that everyone wants to see them happy. For me though, and this is only for me (I wouldn’t expect anyone to feel the same way) but I hate in house romance now. This goes for PD too (with Burzek being the exception).

Between Gabby & Casey, Severide & Kidd (though, I do love this pair), and short flings over the series, it left me with a sour taste in my mouth. That is the thing I couldn’t put my finger on because I wasn’t thinking about it. But it kind of slapped me in the face when I saw the previews for when the show returns in January. I am just so tired of in house romances because we have to see their relationship when they are off and then when they are on shift. It becomes too much. I think somewhere along the way, I just stopped loving new in house romance couples.

But I don’t hate Brettsey. I will be happy when something good happens to them and feel sad when they are both hurting. Especially Sylvie. She’s my girl. I still love her and always will. But being invested in them like Brettonio? Probably not.

Ha, I was waiting for this question. I’m not sure if you’re a Brettsey fan so I’ll thread lightly here.

Let me first say, I love Sylvie and I love Casey as individuals. Their goodness brings a special light to Chicago Fire.

But do I ship them? No. And the biggest reason why is I feel like their storyline is lacking something. I can’t quite put my finger on it but let me try to explain.

I am one who loves a slow burn ship that I’m just screaming at the TV to kiss already. But usually with a slow burn relationship, there is something that keeps me intrigued. Obviously chemistry is a big thing, you either have it or you don’t. It could be stolen glances that you can literally see the ache in the persons eyes. You have some ships that uses any excuse to touch the other because if they don’t, they’ll explode. Or some ships that they can’t touch the other because if they do, they will cross a line. Regardless, you can feel their pain and are aching right along with them. The power of TV, man. But I don’t feel that way with Brettsey and I completely understand I could be alone in this.This is only my opinion after all.

Also, we aren’t giving enough on how Sylvie and Casey feels. Other people have mention they should be a couple, sometimes think they are, but that’s it. Until we get a scene where they admit their feelings but can’t be together (it’s more than Gabby tbh), yet they want to so badly, I just can’t root for them. And yes, I get that Casey felt really bad for hurting Sylvie in the factory warehouse fire but let’s not forget only Sylvie got hurt. If Foster AND Sylvie both got hurt yet he blames himself for only Sylvie then maybe I could even root for them.

Maybe they feel something for the other but can’t even admit it to themselves which is understandable considering Casey is Gabby’s ex husband and Sylvie is Gabby’s best friend. But I feel like it’s more than that. Maybe it’s Derek, maybe he can’t write for them yet because it’s not their time. But until this storyline gets better, I can’t get behind them.

P.S. This isn’t me bashing the couple. Some ships you connect with and some you don’t, it happens. In case some fans thinks that was my sole purpose, it really isn’t. If I don’t connect with a ship, I don’t hate them, I just don’t talk about them.

I know I changed to a multifandom blog, but with Antonio leaving, my hope left with him (though I still believe we haven’t seen the last of Antonio yet or brettonio).
