I love both these games, but it really saddens me to see people overwrite Breath of the Wild's story and lore with Age of Calamity's story which are actually very very different. I thought it would be cool to try and put the timelines side by side for comparison.

This is not an argument against Age of Calamity being canon to the overall Zelda universe, but the events of AoC are contradictory to BotW in many ways which makes AoC not applicable to BotW's history specifically. Despite the advertising, AoC is not what happened 100 years ago in BotW—not even the beginning of the game reflects the events of BotW pre-Calamity. The game is an alternate story from its opening moments.

I've included commentary of my own which adds some thoughts of mine as well as a few theories based on what we know in the games. It's only speculation on my part and I think it is clear which parts are the commentary, so I don't expect everyone to agree with my speculative thoughts. I did put a lot of work into this, so I hope people forgive me for selfishly posting my own thoughts besides what is literally stated in the games.

Hopefully the document doesn't glitch out again after I reformatted everything. I had to turn off auto update to get all my border lines to show up, so hopefully everything stays in place.

I hope that those who do read this timeline comparison appreciate the time that I put into it.
