Talitha Cumi (3x24) — Neck Tie #2

As Mulder ventures out on his own to determine the connection between his mother and Jeremiah Smith, he is wearing an olive grey suit, white dress shirt with pointed collar, and the ‘Jacks’ necktie, an olive-grey design with beige square pattern that resemble the game, which was last seen in ‘Apocrypha.’

Talitha Cumi (3x24) — Neck Tie #1

Season Finale/New Tie Alert! In the episode that features alien faith healers, bounty hunters, retractable ice picks, and philosophical detours about the nature of free will and justice, Mulder starts the episode wearing a navy houndstooth suit, trademark white dress shirt with pointed collar, and an indigo necktie with fire engine red polka dots, which give the appearance of it looking like a cotton voile fabric.

In the episode wrap-up in AD Skinner’s Office, where like so many MOTW stories, Mulder and Scully have proof that ultimately winds up proving nothing, he’s wearing a charcoal suit, grey dress shirt with pointed collar, and the grey necktie with the woven argyle pattern, last seen in ‘Jose Chung’s From Outer Space.’

When Mulder goes to visit a recuperating Scully, he’s wearing a charcoal suit, white dress shirt with a point collar, and the weird, elaborate maroon checkered pattern necktie (which will continue to mystify any attempt of mine to describe it) from ‘Hell Money.’

When Mulder searches for a missing Scully and determines how his own red-colorblindness attributed to him not being affected by the VHS tapes (which is cleverly conveyed by the costume designer Jenni Gullett using a previously used tie, which was last seen in ‘Pusher’), he’s wearing a navy suit, sky blue dress shirt with a semi-spread collar, and navy necktie with turquoise in the herringbone pattern.

As Scully begins to slip into psychosis from watching the recorded tapes (a journey we witness begin but it is unfortunately not the episode’s focus, which would be an inversion of the show’s unchanging Skeptic/Believer dynamic), Mulder’s wearing a navy suit, white dress shirt with a point collar, and a black necktie with white square patterning, last seen in “Grotesque.’

Fox Mulder Tie Index — Season 1

Hello, Y’ll! This is my attempt at creating a post for the master tie index for Fox Mulder in each season of the X-Files. Before anyone mentions, yes, I know I’m retreading the same territory as  @fox-mulders-ties​, but I am justifying this experiment by being more methodical (and hopefully complete this experiment).

The above graphic is a sampling of the noteworthy ties Mulder wore throughout the first season. Each number on the tie screenshot represents its corollary on the list below, which is a complete rundown. 

And yes, a few names on the below list are ones that FMT Tumblr originated because I lacked the creativity to imagine a better name.  -T

The Blessing Way (3x01) — Note of curiosity

While Mulder does not wear a necktie or any kind of clothing in this episode — owing to him being half-dead — one of his past ties makes an appearance. In a scene with Skinner, the CSM is seen wearing the necktie Mulder wore to Bellefleur, WA on his first case with Scully, in the ‘Pilot.’ 

Previously, he wore the necktie in ‘Tooms,’ ‘Little Green Men,’ ‘Ascension,’ ‘Talitha Cumi’ and multiple other episodes. The necktie becomes somewhat of a staple of the CSM which perfectly reflects the character’s banality of evil that hides behind bureaucracy.

Jose Chung’s From Outer Space (3x20) — Neck Tie #3

During the denouement when Mulder attempts to dissuade Jose Chung from  publishing his account of the case, he’s wearing a white dress shirt and the grey necktie with the woven argyle pattern, last seen in ‘Pusher.’ No good look at the suiting because Jose Chung likes to write under mood lighting...

Jose Chung’s From Outer Space (3x20) — Neck Tie #2

When Mulder, Scully and Detective BLEEPIN’ Manners find the staged jet crash, Mulder’s wearing a grey suit, white dress shirt, paired with a gold and maroon necktie with thin diagonal striping, last seen in ‘Apocrypha.’

Jose Chung’s From Outer Space (3x20) — Neck Tie #1

When Mulder and Scully travel to investigate the validity of an alien abduction of a teenager couple — which doubles as an indictment of its lead male character as a “ticking timebomb of insanity” — Mulder’s wearing a black suit, a (now staple) white dress shirt and the necktie, which has thin indigo and granite vertical striping under black diamond patterning, last seen in ‘Hell Money.’

Hell Money (3x19) — Neck Tie #4

In the episode postscript when has Det. Chao disappeared (and soon to be burned alive in a crematorium), Mulder is wearing a charcoal Prince of Wales check suit, off-white dress shirt and the necktie, last seen in ‘Syzygy.’

Hell Money (3x19) — Neck Tie #3 

When the partners confer with Det. Chao halfway through the episode, Mulder is wearing a white dress shirt and the necktie that looks like buttons on a remote, last seen in ‘Piper Maru.’

Worn for a single scene during an autopsy of a poor bastard who lost the Hell Money drawing and which his body ultimately houses a frog, Mulder wears a navy suit, with the sky blue dress shirt and white striping (last seen in ‘The Walk’) and the weird, elaborate maroon checkered pattern tie, from ‘D.P.O.’
