in december 2017 i really paid actual money for my ticket to sit in the cinema and watch them disrespect finn like that for two hours

like the stark contrast between his character arc in tfa to his... whatever that was in tlj.... is so frustrating. like we're introduced to a character with a clear connection to the force and a past shrouded in mystery. a character who experiences a massive shift which drives the plot. who turns away from evil but is still afraid. who knows first hand the horrors of the first order and wants to run as far away as possible but stands and fights anyway. who overcomes fear and tyranny for love and righteousness.... the heroic potential that had. but instead of progressing that arc in a natural and complex way we're suddenly meant to believe that actually he's a cowardly secondary character with a handful of scenes who has to "learn" not to be ~selfish~ and to attempt to sacrifice himself (senselessly) as if he didn't take a lightsaber to the back for a girl he just met. oh and the guy who defected from an evil regime also has to "learn" that ...people are bad sometimes and are... cruel to animals. OH and that both sides in a war against fascism are meanies actually :// pathetic
