i decided to give sylph an apple-y look because i thought itd be super cute and was thinking of the hungry hungry caterpillar when i was drawing her so ya

tom i decided to make more human-looking largely because his backstory is changing the most. this does mean im revoking his having two moms license😔 his moms werent really part of his story much, and didnt even have proper designs. id rather they become their own separate characters rather than wind up becoming a prop to set up tom's story, so instead he grew up in an orphanage that was actually filled with caring people who simply lacked the money to maintain a decent facility. a big note about him is that while he can fight okay, hes not trained whatsoever. he knows how to throw good punches and duck but thats about it theres no fancy footwork or Crazy Skillz because hes just a very anxious 18 year old boy who wants to keep his sisters safe. for a while he would invite both of them to hang out at the orphanage, but when he aged out of the system they all had to figure out living somewhere else.

tryx has remained the most unchanged (relatively), and her backstory is staying the same save for the fact that she now DIYs her hormones until she comes into contact with Dr. Ribo (another oc who i will go into more depth in a different post lmfao). the only thing thats really changed is her sense of style and interests! instead of being specificallt into one music artist and a couple of shows, tryx is specifically into the rave scene thats happening on springrock (she dies each time a tour happens and its never in fucking maya), really likes whatever scene kid stuff she can find (pray for her soul itll take ages for her to find shit🙏), and she specifically chose her name from a magical girl series where the protagonist has a very androgynous civilian form (the running gag would definitely be her getting mistaken for a boy) while her magical girl look is very flashy and feminine (which she embraces rather than shuns). tryx also does fully uses she/her now (largely cause i was a dumbass and accidentally put that on her af ref sheet so now im just committing)

Taeninatio is an Octoipod (I know that. They don't look really like that) who was a former member of a "Major pest control" group. They were freelance and beast slayers, taking out the creatures that you can't really put a bounty on.

They looked up to their squadmate: Bit. Bit was more or less the leader of the Country Carnifmiers.

Bit other one who was on the same skill level as him. Bit is the one he cared for and even relied on at times; but one unfortunate day, after falling into one of the worm tunnels during a normal hive-clearing gig,

Taeninatio watched in vain as a sandworm ate them whole. He shot at the worm, threw whatever he had, even ran after it as far as they could on foot; but it was all in vain, as the worm ultimately got away in the end.

This led to an arc in Taeninatio's life where they dedicated a great deal of their time to just hunting down this singular sandworm. Barely any sleep, barely eating, never resting and often going out alone until they found the same worm.

it took a full year, but Taenintaio finally did. They found it and killed it; and decided to eat it as part of this revenge fantasy that's been brewing in his head for the better part of his search. He would have done while it was still alive, if it wouldn't be impossible. When they did. They swear, by all the planets and stars left in the sky- to whatever gods may still be kicking; he could taste their essence in the flesh. He could feel their memory, existing and stolen, in his mouth and disappear on his palette. For that moment, Taenintaio felt satisfied.

That was until they found the actual worm form that day a few months later. The team figured it out by the shock-round still embedded into it's side from when Taenintaio shot at it as it was fleeing, and the casing's condition verified this timeline. In disbelief, since he was so certain the first time, Taenintaio ate this worm. He didn't even wait, simply cut a chunk out and bit down.

It tasted exactly the same.

That day, the idea of revenge soured. It felt empty. He finally got it, but it did nothing to ease the absence that he was so blinded by rage to properly notice until now.

He quit, and the group disbanded soon after.

Taeninatio went on to become a chef, funding a restaurant with the large sum of rounds he kept during his career.

He had a lot of worm meat to go through, and he for sure didn't want to be the one to eat it.
