It's crazy how my boy Hyunwoo has less than a minute of screen time, yet he's still triggering haters left and right lol. I wonder why they can't accept the possibility that Luka did care about him. It's not like Hyunwoo will ever be more important to Luka than Hyuna, but stillāthey were friends. There was be a connection there. Why are people so angry about it?š„²š„²
From the anon's response, it seems like they're just very very very very invested in their specific image of Luka so having someone contradict that aggravates them.
Which, understandable. But even if their emotional reaction is valid, their actions are definitely not.
Idk why they chose me to pick a fight with but hey, maybe I should take that to mean they think I'm the loudest person on Tumblr to talk about Hyun Woo and Luka.
Whatever it is, they will continue to have unpleasant experiences in fandom ā especially the Alnst fandom ā if they can't come to terms with the fact that people are gonna have different reads on the characters. Alnst is one of, if not the most, interpretive medias I've ever had the fortune to encounter. So even if I also get frustrated sometimes, when it comes down to it I personally believe everyone should choose the interpretation that brings them the most joy. If my posts interrupt that, blocking me is the best thing someone can do for themselves.
Because no matter how many insults are slung at me, nothing will change the fact that they have no counter argument to Karma or the Vivimeng commentary that has been brought up. Thus there is no way for them to ever receive the response they want to get from me.
(different anon here) it's been a hot hot minute since ive seen someone so mad over fandom discourse, goodness.
im sure you already know this, but dw about that person. luka/hyuna/hyunwoo arent even my favorite characters and i still love reading your meta analyses because i find how you break down their respective characters and relationships with each other to be very insightful :3
on a different note: is there anything you're hoping to see out of any of those 3 from ZOMST?
Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it š«¶š«¶š«¶
That's a good question -
So far what little we know about Luka, Hyuna, and Hyun Woo in Zomst comes from Hyuna's teaser video and the Zomst comic.
Interestingly enough, it doesn't look like Hyuna has completely drawn the line with Luka like she had in Alnst (she condones being in the same shared space here), but we do get the sense that she's being very cold and that there's a one-sided strained relationship between them.
It seems a safe bet whatever went down involved Hyun Woo, but I don't think it's resulted in his death this time around.
For one, murder, unintentional or not, is a bigger deal in modern human society than Anakt Garden, yet Luka appears to be living freely in the comic, without social ostracization or dark rumors following him. Hyuna has also not chosen to completely break off contact with Luka, which I suspect wouldn't be possible for her if her brother was dead.
Hyun Woo himself hasn't appeared in the comics or videos yet, but the key visual does show a boy on the upper left who shares Hyuna's hair color (this is worth considering because even Sua and Ivan, both black-haired, have different hair highlight colors to differentiate them).
All of that being said, I'm trying not to put too much stock in the comic and key visual when it comes to theorizing about the Zomst videos because the continuity is so ambiguous.
Mizi's and Sua's legs both show up on the cover of the "old" movie Mizi's holding, and the opening scene of said movie is the same frame as one that appears during Mizi and Sua's confrontation scene.
Mizi and Sua are also never shown in the video wearing the comic's blue plaid school uniform.
(Ofc it's possible the video's graduation scene and uniforms are from junior high, and this comic takes place between their junior high graduation and Mizi's debut)
Whether the comic is canon to the main Zomst timeline or not, the teaser seems to hint that Hyuna knows Mizi and co (same school?). Isaac suspects Hyuna has a personal reason to be so invested in bringing down Zombie Stage, and Hyuna's response is looking at the poster with Mizi and co's names when she thinks to herself, "This is no place for kids to play..."
Another thing on my mind is the role reversal theory. You kinda get the sense from Vivimeng's interviews and commentaries that they place a lot of importance in switching things up and that they don't like rehashing content.
(Ex. Ivan and Till's relationship was adjusted to avoid too much thematic overlap with Mizi and Sua. Ex. They made a point to change up the music styles of the mainline videos whenever possible.) (Patreon R6 and R2 commentary)
Knowing this aspect of their creative philosophy, the role reversal theory isn't far-fetched because it would be a good way to have an alternative universe without rehashing Alnst beat for beat.
So if this theory is true, I already know what I'm kinda expecting from Ivan and Till's video.
When I say role reversal, I don't mean everything plays out the exact same way just with swapped characters. (Aka I don't think Zomst will have Ivan liking someone else while Till is obssessed with Ivan.)
What I do think is plausible though, is Till entering Zombie Stage to save Ivan.
Whether Till entered Zombie Stage for Mizi and diverts to saving Ivan, or finding Ivan was his goal from the very beginning; whether we get a reverse meteor scene where Till is trying to get them both out, or Till losing on stage to Ivan this time ā there's plenty of ways it can be executed.
Personally, right now I'm leaning towards Till trying to find Ivan on Zombie Stage to save him but fails and loses in Round 2.
On the other hand I have no clue what to expect from Luka and Hyuna's video if the role reversal theory is true.
After all, Hyuna is already shown trying to tear down Zombie Stage the same way she tried Alien Stage (and using a broadcast again no less).
So... yeah that's all I got.
Tl;dr I honestly don't know what to expect but I'm excited to find out.
What went down between Luka, Hyuna, and Hyun Woo in this timeline? Is he still alive? What could have made Hyuna clearly displeased with Luka but not enough to cut all ties with him?
Huh, bold of YOU to think that "kinda dislike" = "care about." You cant dislike someone and caring about them at the same time. Thats not how it works. And you got it wrong (again). I don't dislike Hyunwoo. He's not an important character in the show, so I don't have any feelings toward him. I'm trying to help you come to your senses. Believing and deadass posting that Luka had other significant and impactful relationships besides Hyuna is delusional and spreads misinformation. Since you have a blog here, you can influence people into thinking the same as you.Do you need Vivinos to show Luka smashing Hyunwoo's head with a rock for you to understand that he doesn't give a shit about him? I mean, him laughing, making heart eyes at Hyuna while leaving Hyunwoo's body behind weren't enough for you. Neither was Hyuna crying at Hyunwoo's grave while Luka was having the time of his life. None of that was enough to break the fantasy you've built. So I'm seriously starting to think that you need professional help. You're romanticizing and belittling the situation when you say, "Oh, Luka actually cares about Hyunwoo too," blah blah blah. Thats bullshit. That is you putting your pink glass on and refusing to face reality.
"You can't dislike someone and care about them at the same time."
Does... does Hyuna mean nothing to you. That's explicitly what her and her relationship with Luka is entirely about š
On this blog I've made a point to always include all the sources, screenshots, and evidence that has led me to each node of reasoning and each conclusion I pose, specifically to give the reader a chance to come to their own conclusions.
That didn't change even when you come into my askbox with accusations of delusion.
I've defended my reasonings to you more times than I can count with the receipts. If this isn't enough to convince you by now that I have a valid leg to stand on, and in fact inversely only triggers more harassment and insults from you, then I'll spare myself the effort from now on and make this the last time I respond to you.

Since you love analyzing the canon material, please analyze this; Vivinosā own words āLuka and Hyunwoo would always kinda dislike each other.ā :) Ready to admit that your interpretations of Luka are wrong?
Idk kinda bold of you to send a message with this tone without even including the source or context (which honestly I would appreciate because I love getting new canon material but haven't been keeping a careful eye out recently due to other commitments)
I do believe it's real though because it sounds like something that Vivimeng would say, thus:
Bold of you to assume this debunks anything? Like genuinely confused which takes I have that this quote would invalidate lol
Hyun Woo is a critical aspect of Luka's guilt and his death had a big impact on him (full analysis)
[Supported by Luka coming face to face with Hyun Woo after Hyuna's death in Karma, Hyun Woo and Luka's heart in Karma, and confirmation from Patreon that each heart represents a relationship not a person -> Luka is the only one with 2]
Hyun Woo and Luka mutually considered each other a friend (with the nuance that saying this doesn't mean declaring it was the status quo from start to finish)
[Supported by Luka's drawing of Hyuna and Hyun Woo holding his hands and the Weige scene of Hyun Woo having fun with Luka, and Vivimeng explicitly confirming it at an Animate panel]
___
"Luka and Hyun Woo will always kinda dislike each other" is actually a really cool addition to this whole collage of their relationships that I'll definitely take into consideration in my analyses going forward but I don't see why you'd think it negates the previously established points?
You can absolutely "kinda dislike" people in your friend group and you can absolutely be impacted by the death of someone you "kinda dislike" and honestly the fact that you believe otherwise concerns me
It's still WILD that Hyun Woo remains the most controversial thing on this blog but as stated previously, if you're a Hyun Woo hater please be considerate of yourself and others and block this blog
I like the little details where Mizi listens on her phone, Sua listens on an electronic dictionary?, Ivan uses his smartwatch, Till uses a iPod, Luka uses his phone, Hyuna listens to a cassette player
The moment they lose the other to a place they can't follow
ćZombie Stageć
Sua loses Mizi to the kpop industry, a place she can't follow because she couldn't pass the audition. Even more than that, the kpop industry is the place that tore Mizi down so completely she became a soulless husk of herself, which is the source of their emotional rift and the start of Mizi pushing her away.
Also, in a way, Mizi died metaphorically after her debut, as shown by her dead eyes and empty smile in all of her scenes after.
ćAlien Stageć
Mizi loses Sua to death in Round 1, a place she can't follow in any meaningful sense.
The moment they see the face of the person they love hurting and in need of saving
ćZombie Stageć
Mizi is the one who needs saving.
Mizi's suffering is the main focus in the scenes depicting their childhood, while Sua is just happy to be with Mizi (as clearly seen in the frame where Sua leans in to kiss a bruised Mizi for the first time).
Mizi's active suffering in the kpop industry is also one of the main focuses of the video.
ćAlien Stageć
Sua is the one who needs saving.
Many of Sua's childhood art depicts her dead-eyed and presumably dissassociating to escape from a painful reality. In contrast Mizi was usually depicted just being happy to be with Sua.
Sua's loneliness and tendency to bear her suffering alone without sharing it with others is a major character theme.
The moment they try to reach the other and help, but are pushed away (literally)
ćZombie Stageć
Sua desperately wants to help Mizi, but Mizi pushes her away because Sua will never be able to understand what she went through in the kpop industry and that fact makes her unbearably hurt and angry and lonely.
ćAlien Stageć
Mizi desperately wants to reach Sua, but Sua pushes her away because she needs to go through with her plan for Round 1. Sua is also under the assumption that Mizi doesn't know/wouldn't understand because Mizi's pretended not to know this entire time, which in turn has subjected Sua to the loneliness of enduring all of this herself.
The moment they smile blissfully at the one they love, despite their partner's pain
ćZombie Stageć
Sua smiles in this scene because she's finally found a way to stay with Mizi. The zombie virus and Zombie Stage has become a "paradise" for her because despite the horror, it allows her to reach and be with the one she loves.
So when she reaches out to kiss Mizi who's still trembling from the pain of decomposing as a zombie, it's with a smile of pure bliss.
ćAlien Stageć
Mizi smiles uncertainly but eagerly as she reaches out to Sua while they bathe in the same tub, despite Sua showing extremely concerning tendencies, bringing Mizi's hands around her neck as an unspoken display of the pain that has driven her to arrange her own end in Round 1 at Mizi's metaphorical hands.
The moment they remembered their happiest memories during the climax of the story
ćZombie Stageć
For Sua, that moment was practicing together with Mizi in the studio, before she debuted.
ćAlien Stageć
For Mizi, that moment was the crystallization of their greatest wish, their final duet.
The moment they danced with their lover's (un)dead body
Tl;dr Zombie Stage is a role reversal bc Mizi is the one suffering and in need of saving while Sua is the one chasing after her shadow after losing her.
Mizi is drawing parallels between what happened with her mother, and what's happening now with Sua.
There's a couple different ways to interpret it but I personally think the throughline is that just as her mother was never able to protect her despite how much she loved Mizi, Sua isn't able to save her from what she's suffering from now either. No matter how much Sua loves her and cares about her and clings to her, she can't do anything about what's going on.
