Review Proper (when you see no emojis, that could only mean one thing)
I went into this excited. The first two chapters reeked of sexual tension and I was even thinking of making this my go-to BLCD for 2018 and it might have been have I not read the raws along with listening to the CD. I was really hoping for the tension to pile and pile up until the big climax in track and chapter 3 where it’ll explode and we have a messy, juicy, and hot beach bambo.
I mean - I wasn’t wrong but, that really was disappointing.
I did read somewhere in the comments of chapter 2 that we were going to have rape in the following chapters but I wasn’t expecting it to be perpetrated by the seme himself. And that wasn’t the end of my issues with this. There’s a sudden timeskip in the plotline and there are still so many loose ends like how Enomoto-senpai not getting the jail-time he deserves after his kidnap and assault of Kurama. Yo boy just gone and forgave the man so fast like 1, 2, 3 what the fuck? If that was me, I’d have him stay right there as I called the popo on his ass. I mean, I do understand that Kurama’s father might have not wanted to press any charges for fear of a scandal but, didn’t he disown Kurama? Okay, so maybe Kurama himself didn’t want to press charges because he didn’t want to make it a big deal but, would you really just treat the act of kidnap and rape so lightly like that? It’s like Kurama was so caught up with Kirishima’s sins that he didn’t think that much about Enomoto’s which was as or even more horrific than Kirishima’s??? And when he decided to meet up with Kirishima for the last time, the logic was nowhere to be found! There’s really nothing to get out of sleeping with someone AGAIN if you want to forget them ‘cause that only leads to more problems. He’s got a backbone for standing up to his father like that but, he’s got no backbone when it comes to Kirishima.
There’s literally so many plot-holes in this that you’ll just have to thank the VAs for putting this all together (I’ll talk about them later). Next we have Kirishima’s older brother who’s trans. He just suddenly pops out of nowhere and even with the knowledge of the horrible things done to Kurama, tries and fucks Enomoto - I mean, sure, everyone should get a second chance but, not like this man. The timing is so wrong. It’s like they jammed up everything in the last few tracks so they could pull off a finale in this mess. And now that we’re on the topic of Kirishima, I really wanted to like him ‘cause I’m now Furukawa Makoto x Satou Takuya trash but, this is by far the worst seme Furukawa Makoto has played. I mean, I, in no way, can bring myself to like Furukawa Makoto’s Eisuke in Ambivalence but I’ll take a so-so seme than a hot sex on legs but borderline abusive seme any day. I still have morals, you know. Kirishima really starts okay but when it’s time for the dancin’ he almost turns berserk - I need to put this out there: they only have gentle sex ONCE. I don’t know if he’s low-key crazy or some shit but it’s really a waste of character design AND SPEAKING OF CHARACTER DESIGN - WHAT DID THEY DO TO HIS HAIR IN THE TIME SKIP??? HE LOOKS SO WEIRD AND SO MUCH MORE RAPE-Y WITH THE MIDDLE PART.
Neither of them says their feelings out loud like, Kirishima’s “please go out with me” is the closest thing we’ve got to an “I like/love you”. Some of y’all might come up to my face saying that they don’t need to say those things out loud if they express it through their actions but bitch their actions say something like: “I love your body” at best.
*breathe in, breathe out*
Okay, bottom line is that the plot started off so great (I was even laughing my ass off during the first part) and went on a jaggedly slope. I did not care for anything post time skip except for Kurama’s dad okaying the same-sex marriage bill. I mean, I don’t trust him but, anything to support the cause.
I’m still so disappointed tbh. I wish that I had put that long ass titled Furukawa Makoto x Satou Takuya work for last ‘cause this is the last work I have of theirs (and it’s probably the last of this year). But they’ve portrayed their characters well despite how shit they were. I do prefer Eisuke over Kirishima but I would have to say that I was more satisfied with Furukawa’s portayal of Kirishima. Again, they’ve done it so differently than in Tada no Classmate and Gelateria Supernova. Ugh, they’re vying for 2018′s power BL couple and I’m really considering giving it to them right here and now but, I’m really hoping that Maeno and Okitsu can level out the playing field I think it’s too early. MORE FURUKAWA MAKOTO X SATOU TAKUYA IN THE FUTURE PLEASE.
*sigh* if I only knew that things were going to be like this then I would have listened to this before Cupid ni Rakurai. I still have Kusa no Kanmuri Hoshi no Kanmuri and Wonder Border left and I’m at a dilemma since I’ve already made some bad choices. I’m really worried that both of them are going to suck. Please spare me and my time.
So do I recommend this? I suggest never reading the manga (if you haven’t yet or have only read the translated chapters) but, the CD’s pretty decent so if you’re into rough sex and not a good plot, definitely give this a try.
