Making friends with a Great Blue Heron by Artemesia V Via Flickr: I was watching this guy in the distance for awhile and cursing my lack of zooming powers. At some point he decided I was worth landing near and checking out. He stayed there a long while too--letting me get of quite a few good shots. Much respect for that beak kept me close to the door in case he got ornery.

Worth waking up for by Artemesia V Via Flickr: Those who know me know I don't like to wake up early... usually. But when there's a sunrise worth watching, I make sure I'm there.

Venus right before sunrise by Artemesia V Via Flickr: Wasn't sure what this bright thing in the sky was at first. The ISS? No, moving too slow. A little investigation and I found out that it's Venus, which is the brightest thing in the sky right before sunrise when facing east this time of year.
