SIIIIGHHHHHHHH......

SIGHHHHHHH sometimes I’ll use the Wayback Machine to check out what the old Supa Strika website used to look like before it all got taken down. A lot of it looked really cool but I think the biggest and most tragic loss for me has to be the “Comic” page of the site. They had a ton of issues on there you could flip through and I’m sooooo sad that the archived page isn’t functional and not too many comics were saved……………

so anyways, @abyss-strikas and I worked together to collect and archive a bunch of old Supa Strikas comics that you can flip through on the new “Comics” tab on the Supa Stars website!!:

This is something I never thought would even be a POSSIBILITY of us having on our website, and it wouldn’t have BEEN possible had it not been for my amazing friend Abyss and everything she’s done throughout this journey.

We have comics ranging ALLLLLLL the way back from Stirkas’ early days, when Supa Strikas had VASTLY different players and oppositions, stories that haven’t been seen in FOREVER, all the way to the more recent comics that have the iconic characters we know and love today!

SOME QUESTIONS (and answers!):

“How did you get these comics?” - Through insane luck and timing, I won’t even lie. I happened to be at the right time and place and met some very wonderful people who were able to help send these comics to us.

“How long did this take to do?” - Much longer than anticipated. Coding the page took a hot minute, but actually RECEIVING the comics was the longest [and scariest] part.

“Aren’t some of these comics in that one Google Drive/shared by this one user?” - Nope! We can assure you everything that’s on this Comic Page is 100% ours. The collection we got just so happened to have some duplicates that are already known throughout the community. However, while we’re on the topic, I would like to shout out some users and link to some posts, such as @nenemii, who’s a wonderful member of the fandom that’s gone out of her way to scan and translate multiple Strika Comics: Trapped, Dooma's Day, Just Desserts, Building Spirit, and Hypno Test! @strika-archyvez, who’s shared a TON of great Supa Strika facts and panels from the older strika comics [and what got me insanely interested in the older comics in the first place], and @crimsoncognito, who has collected and shared a Google Drive containing a ton of archived Strika comics from the later 2010s! Thank you for sharing so much Strika stuff with the community :]

OTHER NOTES:

TRANSLATIONS - Some of the comics we received were in different languages. We’ve taken the time to translate them to the best of our ability, though there were certainly a few rough spots here and there [there’s one issue. I’m not gonna say which one. But Klaus says something kind of out of left field. We triple checked the translation and apparently that IS what he said.] Also, some of the translated comics had to be flipped, as the original publications were made to be read right to left, so if you notice some numbers or labels facing the wrong way, that’s why!

NAMES, DATES, AND ISSUE # - We tried our best to label and date these comics, however some didn’t have names, and others didn’t have dates. We worked with what we had + used the archived Strika Site for reference.

THE VERY FIRST COMIC - The comic you see on the top left corner of the first row, despite having text inside stating it got published in 2006, we believe might not be the case. Not only is the art style drastically different from the other 2006 comics, but when you read the story, you’ll see it’s VERY early on in Shakes’ career, and it references a real world tragedy that took place in 2002. However, we do not know when it COULD have possibly been published. This is why it’s been listed as “Possibly prior to 2006” on the site!

SIDE NOTE BOUT THE FIRST COMIC - It’s file size is larger than the other comics, so it takes several extra seconds to fully load! Wanted to give a proper heads up about that!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this, and being so patient for this surprise we’ve been working on for some time. I want to thank both @yanxioustrikas and Abyss for helping with the testing of the website to make sure everything was functioning alright, and I want to sincerely thank Abyss again for everything she’s done throughout this, from the scanning, to helping with the translations, none of this would’ve been possible without her, and I’m so glad to have a friend like her in the Supa Strikas fandom.

It’s so exciting to get to share so many comics with you all that were once considered lost media, with the only proof of their existence being old pictures of covers or snippets of pages. Please enjoy reading them, and thank you again for your time.

Studying Northquido under a microscope..

While theyre honestly just yaoislop and purely just fun rivals, i think you could read them alot deeper if the 'North used to play for hydra, and was a rookie the same time as liquido' headcanon is kept in mind

Firstly, their senses of victory are tied to eachother. Surfing specifically because they often blur the lines between the actual sport and the fact that the other plays it. One scene thats a perfect microcosm of their dynamic is in rookie season 'Sphere of missing out' (while their relationship there was really rinsed of anything deeper and honestly just dry, this scene still sticks out bcs at first North gets distracted from talking about a defence tactic when he sees a wave (because surfing is one of his biggest distractions obviously, and then he sees liquido inside that wave and he mutters his name in contempt while the rest of his teammates yell bcs they assume he was staring solely at the wave.) Its the concept of losing any sense when he sees something he likes/ wants to do, because he has terrible impulse control and is easily distracted by extreme sports and generally things that excite him and yet something about his brain categorises liquido in that same category of excitement? or hightened emotions where everyone else's words go in one ear and out the next.

Aswell as that, they generally just aren't good for eachother, I'll reference the comic here as Rasta and Big Bo both tell north that "Liquido brings out the worst in you" "and the worst in your game" because 1, they get too competitive to the point that others are caught in the crossfire (ex. 'depth charge' where they snuck off on their own just to compete in a race and 'worth his weight in goals' where North being so unwilling to back down he lets Tiger get caught in liquidos schemes.) And 2, said competitiveness means that North easily falls for Liquidos taunting (This mainly furthers my theory that they used to play together as rookies), as Liquido seems to know basically all of Norths tells, and all of his plans to throw North off work. On that same note North always runs back and rises to Liquidos ragebait despite knowing its most likely a trap likeee hes exactly where he wants to be...

On Liquidos side of things, I want to say that his many many attempts on Norths life can be read as wanting to get rid of his strongest bond (bond in this case being one of the few people that challenge him, and that he enjoys getting reactions from.) You have to keep in mind that whenever anyone gets ahead of Liquido his first thought is immedietely sabotage/violence (most likely because Del Aqua is an enabler that doesnt punish liquido for his actions, leading him to take the easy way out after his skills fall short more often than not. and if you look at liquidos actions through that lens, it shouldn't make sense for North to continuously keep engaging with him if its always gonna end in dirty trick. (Though show liquido and comic liquido are honestly quite different from eachother, comic northquidos dynamic is alot more akin to two besties that get into the worst trouble imaginable when left alone.. its very important to me that you see the first two things liquido does after crashing into north is first blame it on him, and then grab his hand to swim them away from danger)

It kinda extends to my next point about how their character traits are perfect balances to eachother, if North wasn't so laid back and confident in his own skills, he wouldn't keep accepting whatever challenge liquido goads him into accepting.. basically just that nobody else can deal w liquidos bullshit and not get tired of it besides north. Whilst on the other hand, I dont think anyone else can excite North the way liquido does, hes categorised any fight with the other man the way he normally would with an extreme sport,, that is to say with extreme adrenaline and intense emotion

Now use all of these points and see my theory that they used to be hydra rookies together but would cause so so much trouble when bickering because neither would ever back down that it escalated to deep shit constantly.. and then Coach signs on north and he and Del Aqua silently agree to keep them as far away from eachother as possible because anytime they go lax and forget why they do it .. like 10 minutes later the stadiums sinking and theyre still bickering
