Do you really need all that candy?”

Ivan froze with a yet another box of candy in his hands he was about to put in his cart. He could feel hinself blushing bright red and he didn’t even meet man’s gaze for Gods sake! Not that he didn’t know who it was. He’d recognize that voice anywhere.

He finally turned, meeting Luka’s amused gaze. He felt like a child being caught with his hands in a cookie jar. Damn Luka and his ability to turn Ivan into a confused mess.

“That’s-that’s not all for me. Or for today. It’s-" 

God, Ivan wanted to slap himself. What was wring with him? Usually he could charm anyone he talked to but the second Luka talked to him he forgot his own name. 

Luka’s reasuring touch on his arm almost makes him flinch before he melts into it. 

"Hey it’s alright. I was joking. I am sorry if my question was too intrusive." 

Ivan wasn’t sure if he should laugh or cry at that statement, because this was partly because of Luka.

Ivan haven’t been stress eating in years-he couldn’t because of his diet and football was basically a constant stress so he got used to it. Feelings however, he didn’t know how to deal with that. 

Luka was a constant in his life, it felt like he had been there since forever and will forever be here. So he wasn’t sure when did he strat feeling something more than friendship for him. One day he just did. But he was starting to accept it just now.

Which meant lots of sugar. 

"Hello? Earth to Ivan? Are you alright?” Luka snapped his fingers near Ivan’s face to get his attention, looking concerned.

Ivan smiled shakily at him while slowly putting the box of candies in his cart.

“Yeah I am fine don’t worry about it. Anyway I gotta go, I have uh…things to do." 

Before Ivan could make two steps away from Luka and even attempt to run away, Luka grabbed his arm, spinning him to face him.

"You don’t have to lie at me. You are terrible at it anyway. Com'on. Buy what you need and then we’ll get some coffee and talk." 

And that’s how Ivan found himself in Luka’s flat, hot chocolate in his shaky hands. He was looking down at dark liquid, at anything at all to avoid Luka’s eyes. 

"Something is obviously wrong. You rarely eat sweets, let alone as many as you bought. And you don’t even want to look at me. Did I do something wrong?" 

Ivan’s head snapps up suddenly amd he is instantly trapped by Luka’s stare. But he won’t let him think that this-any of this is his fault.

"No! God no it’s not your faut at all. It’s not your fault that I…” He trails off, relizing with horror what he almost said.

“That you what?” Luka steps close, his eyes looking directly into Ivan’s soul and his breath catches.

“Nothing. It’s nothing.” He stutters out, lowering his gaze again. 

Luka gets closer again and without a word, gently takes the cup from Ivan’s hand and puts it on the counter before lifting Ivan’s chin so they are looking at each other. 

“You keep staring at me when you think I am not looking and brushing your hand against mine when you think I won’t notice. And you have been avoiding me lately. Am I wrong at something?" 

Ivan’s heart is beating so hard he can hear the pounding in his ears. He knows, he knows, he knows. He doesn’t say anything, deciding tjat option for silence is the best right now.

Luka’s hand moves from Ivan’s chin to his cheek and he gets even closer so now Ivan feels his breath on his earlobe. 

"Now tell me, what exactly is the reason you didn’t tell me? Were you afraid I wouldn’t return your feelings?" 

Ivan gulps and just nods, his voice failing him. Luka gently bites on his earlobe and he shivers.

"You were wrong. So very wrong Ivan." 

Luka moves so they are watching each other again and Ivan can’t look away. He still can’t wrap his head around the fact that this is indeed happening. But even if it’s a dream, Ivan was about to just say fuck it and enjoy it.

He closed the gap between them and kissed him. Luka melted against him, his hands immediately wrapping around Ivan’s neck. It was so natural to hold Luka so close in his arms. It was like breathing, like he always belong at this exact place and time. Ivan didn’t want to let go.

But eventually they had to part for air but they stayed embraced, with their foreheads touching.
