Hungry Hippos

I love cross stitching. To me it's like putting a puzzle together, and I love putting puzzles together. I can't wait for this finished product and to frame it and hang it on my wall.

I ride the elevator everyday at work. Sometimes multiple times throughout the day. It's nice when you get on and you're the only one, until it stops on a floor and someone gets on. Then there's this awkward silence and just staring at the doors, and the number as it counts down to your floor. I like when I get on and can carry on a small conversation with someone. But what about the times when you get on and it's an awkward conversation. Happened to me twice today. I got on with three men. One was a security guard escorting the Cintas guy, and then a random JEA employee. The Cintas man was carrying a drill and the other guy said, so you're the drill man? And he replied with sometimes when I'm needed. Then the Cintas man and security guard got off on a floor and the random guy says, we contract one guy with a drill and have someone else escort him around. All I could say was "yeh?" The other time was when a manager and I were going back to our floor and he mentioned it being close to time for them to replace our printers. A man got on and mentioned that he had some old model in his office that he was expecting to get replaced, but he's started liking it because it's old. The manager with me mentioned his dad having an even older model he still uses at his house. Then the man got off, and the manager continued talking about printers. Naming off all kinds of models. Also note there were two other people on the elevator. It was so awkward. Why do you feel the need to name off every model of printer you know?

My church, The Church of Jacksonville, started something in 2011 to help the poor, fatherless and the widows like the Bible commands us to do. It is called Day4Change. In Deuteronomy 24:21 it says "when thou gathering the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow." Pastor Michael T. Smith challenged us to save any change we received and put it into a jar throughout the year. At the end of the year we were given a chance to bring what change we collected to the church and add it with everyone else's. The church then gives it to the Salvation Army and another local organization to help out those in our city that truly need the help. He makes note that if you are a person that needs that change to get by then by all means keep it and use it. He challenged everyone that felt they were financially able to put the change aside to do so. He also said if you're in a different place financially and feel that you can live without anything lower that $5, $10, $20 then do that. The way this is done is if you pay cash for something that cost $4.50 with a $5 bill, you would put the .50 cents into a jar. If you decide you can do without singles and you pay for something that is $1.50, you would put the $3.50 into your jar. My husband and I don't use cash often so I figured out a way to give our leftover change. Throughout the year I went through our check register and rounded every transaction up to the next dollar, the amount that it took to round up I would write down and make a list. At the end of the year we wrote a check and dropped that off along with our little bit of change, I am pleased to say we gave over $400. God has really blessed us this past year and is continuing to bless us. If you are interested in participating in this world changing act I encourage you to start now. Put your change to the side and at the end of the year, drop it off to an organization in your city that truly helps out the people in your city. Also, find the group on Facebook "Day4Change". Think of the impact we can make in this world if everyone gave a little bit of change.

My friend Jeremy Wells married my friend Erika a year and a half ago. I was a bridesmaid in their wedding and for each of us bridesmaids he drew us a shoe that matched who we are/what we like. I love westerny things so I got a boot!! I just now purchased a frame for this picture and I can't wait to put it on a wall in my house!! So that when someone asks me who drew it, I can proudly say "my friend Jeremy Wells!" This is going to be worth something one day because he is currently at the Art Institute in LA, perfecting his amazing abilities!! One day he will be working for Disney or Pixar!! I can't wait to see where God is going to take him!!!

My crochet hooks!! They help me create blankets, hats, scarves, Etc. 

My friend Brittany is leaving tomorrow for college in Alabama!! Tonight we sent her off with good eats at Mellow Mushroom and coffee sips at Bold Bean Coffee Roasters!! I'm excited to see where God is going to take her in these next two years!! Brittany have fun and enjoy it. It'll be over before you know it!
