Cody laughed. “Right… usually I like to come at the same time.” He raised a brow and let out another giggle. He got back to the table after paying the bill and smiled as Matt took his hand. “ One go on the ride and then we need to tick off the next thing on our list, what was it? Singing and dancing? Tattoos? sex shop?” He asked and as they stood in line, Cody rested his head on Matt’s shoulder. “ I’m drunk.” He giggled and then slipped into the seat and sat back as the ride began its ascend, humming and nodding as Matt pointed things out.
Cody looked around at the top of the ride and finally felt like he could breathe, he hadn’t be this relaxed in a long time . “Yeah it is.” He said and gazed at Matt who had the perfect profile. His dark hair and blue eyes made him attractive, but then he smiled and Cody couldn’t look away. He blushed as Matt complimented him and Cody hummed contently as they kissed “ You know.. it feels strange to me when people say I’m beautiful because I see myself in the mirror and I’m just me.” He murmured and then his smile widened. “ Kissing on a Ferris wheel can be ticked off the list. We should write these down.” He pulled out his phone and began to type the list so far. 1. day drinking. 2.Mexican for lunch. 3.Ferris wheel. 4. kiss at the top of the Ferris wheel. 5. sing at a karaoke bar. 6. Get a tattoo. 7. go to a sex shop. 8… Cody paused and then placed his phone back in his pocket just to enjoy being with Matt. “ We should do twenty things. The list should be twenty things long.” He hummed and took Matt’s hand.
“ Is this turning into a date Mr Bomer?” Cody whispered as he mimicked Matt’s accent. He rested his head on his shoulder and sighed. “ That wouldn’t be a problem. However… My bpd might be.” He said quietly as the ride began to descend. “Not exactly the ideal man.” He chuckled as they came to the end of the ride. Cody climbed out and took Matt’s hand to help him and then headed back onto the strip.” Ok where now?” He asked and looked around and spotted a bar with a karaoke sign. “No. I’m not singing. I cant sing,” He said as he shook his head. “But I think we should add more to the list. Like… what was the one thing you wanted as a kid but never got? We should buy that and… maybe visit some places.” He shrugged with a small laugh “ I don’t know what I am talking about, I am drunk.”
As the ride progressed slowly back to the ground, Matt watched Cody write the list. “8 and 9, because it would be one for me and one for you. Go to a location where one of your favourite films was shot. 10. Buy a hooded sweatshirt with a university logo on it. 11. Go and see Marilyn Monroe's mirror in the Roosevelt Hotel. 12. Get a photograph of us in the lamppost exhibition outside the L.A museum of Art. 13. buy something that one of your characters would wear. 14.watch the sunrise.15. Give to charity.” Matt listed off as Cody rested his head on his shoulder “ Yes, this is our first date.” Listening to Cody, Matt squeezed his hand. “ There is no such thing as the ideal man. Just be the best you can be.” Matt placed his arm around Cody’s shoulders, pulling him closer.
Matt was thankful for Cody’s hand as they climbed of the Ferris wheel. His eyes lit up as Cody mentioned the karaoke bar and he bounced a little on his heels. “ Yes!” Matt hissed with excitement and pulled Cody to the bar. “A skateboard.” Matt shrugged as they crossed the road. “ I lived by a lot of fields so having a skateboard was pretty pointless, You?” Matt walked into the bar which was empty, apart from the staff, and sat down, pulling a seat out for Cody. He flipped through the book and began to fill in notes for different songs. “I’m going to pick a song for you and one for me and one for both of us. Then we have to go onto the next thing on the list. I will make you sing.” Matt laughed and waved to a waiter who came over and took Matt’s order for drinks.
