Believe It

“All of you on a team? That sounds spelltactular! And the man in the moon–that’s a story I’ve only heard about, I’ve never read it or seen anyone related to it.” Brooke grins at Jack, clasping her hands in front of her.

She briefly considers telling him about another version of Jack Frost she’s heard about–one who took a bit of a villainous path against Santa Claus–but she decides against it. Not everyone needs to know about that particular incident. “I always did think that was a rather silly turn of phrase anyway,” she finally agrees. “Frost art is gorgeous.”

He gave a pleased nod, even if he has to admit to himself that the  sound of being on a team with all of them in the beginning was the last thing he actually thought he’d ever be a part of. Funny how things work like that, huh? 

His expression however grew brighter when she agreed to the beauty of frost art. His physical age truly showing as his smile was almost childlike, a sad truth about dying at a young age, perhaps. Truthfully, he was quite proud of his own whenever he saw it grow on windows or the ground below him. Even if humans tend to just scrape it away.. At least some appreciate it. 

“Are you even making any sense? I’ve heard all sorts of strange things, but what you’ve said is truly out there. First you’re talking about bunnies and now a kangaroo?”

Perhaps she was just truly starting to feel her age. Or more likely she wasn’t one for the continued oddities that this city seemed to enjoy piling up on her. Either way, she was not exactly happy with this youth.

              “---The kangaroo is the bunny.”

Jack, sweetheart, please. She isn’t going to understand the references you’re making about Bunnymund. You’re LITERALLY the only one who even compares the poor  bun to a kangaroo. 

              “He has an Australian accent,                so I call him a kangaroo. He                hates it, but it’s not far from                the truth.”

“A frost spirit???” 

Now he’s even more excited.

“Tell me more about that.”

              “Well, I mean there isn’t much to it.               I can control snow and ice, usually.                But that’s been a bit on the no-go               side of things since I got stuck here.”

He sighed, scratching at the back of  his head before leaning fully on his  staff.

      ✖ ✖ With a smile, as per the norm, does the blonde regard the other, simply staring at him for a few moments. As she does so, the former guardian’s head tilts slightly, her ashen gaze still hidden by overgrown bangs.

      ❝ What if I told you that I had not even a clue as to who that is? :-) ❞

Holy crap did she just say what he think he just heard? --Truthfully, he shouldn’t be this shocked that she doesn’t know who he was talking about. Lots of religions don’t even talk about a Santa Claus  after all. Guess this is just what happens when you’re stuck having to hear his name so much back home. 

𝓣he girl gave the boy an incredulous look before practically bursting into laughter, kneeling over momentarily before regaining herself and wiping the tears from her eyes.

❝ Oh my gosh, I haven’t heard that one before! Okay, okay, my turn… ❞

Star took a deep breath, preparing herself dramatically before shaking out her arms and legs, as if she were preparing for a fight.

❝ Alright, if athletes get athlete’s foot… What do elves get??. ❞

❝ Mistle-toes! ❞

Mistle-toes. Okay, she got a good laugh from him with that one. Mainly cause now all he can  imagine is the little elves back at the workshop running ‘round with it. ---Even if that’d honestly suck if it’s their version of athletes foot. Ah well, still funny. 

              “That’s a good one! Have ya heard this one though?”

              “What did Jack Frost say to the snowman?”

       . . . . .  

          “Why does the rabbit bring toilet paper to the party?”

Pause for effect....

          “--Because he is a party pooper.”
