Hello Mark, a request (which might have already been fulfilled) and a question.
I have a non-rare cube and UG's theme is +1/+1 counters. You have had that as a theme in many sets so you would think this would be well supported, but it is by far the weakest and hardest to improve color combination in the cube. The issue is that while there are plenty of great green cards that care about +1/+1 counters, and UG cards that care about counters (which I have limited slots for), mono blue goes not have nearly as many good options (lot of C to D level cards, even in a normal draft, let alone a cube).
So, first, I would like more good mono blue commons and uncommons that care about counters. So far in SOS, Tester of the Tangental seems potentially decent (thank you), but none of the rest I'd want. Second, is there a reason this seems to happen? Even if we limit ourselves to sets with a UG counter theme (so not GW or GB counters) green seems to get both more and stronger cards to pull you into the archetype, while in blue the theme tends to be not a "loud" and relies much more on the green cards to be viable.
Blue is the color least focused on creatures (and the most focused on spells) so it doesn’t use +1/+1 counters a lot, especially the granting of them to other creatures.
As someone who plays a WU counters deck, I would appreciate the boost a little too. Blue may not have the best cards for +1/+1 counters, but there are decent cards to proliferate or do other things you would want. Maybe including some small evasive creatures in blue as well. I feel like it is worse in a draft where many of blue's better additions are non-creature.
