BIOGRAPHY:
Growing up as an only child to an elderly couple had its ups and downs. Spoiled rotten by his parents who had wanted to give him everything they could before their time came, had caused many problems once he started school and tasted the somewhat unsupervised life of a kid among his peers. As a troublemaker he had gained a reputation and not all that was said about him was positive. He was loud and unruly, had a knack for making other people’s lives terrible and thrived on the attention his misbehaviour earned him. But he always had a heart of gold and it was only a matter of growing up and setting his priorities straight that took some time.
It certainly helped when he had made his very first friends. For the first time, he realised that other people’s lives differed from his rural, closed-off upbringing. People had problems that didn’t consist of boredom and loneliness of only ever seeing the same handful of faces each day. But that still paled when compared to having fun, even if it meant constant detentions. The novelty only wore off after a couple of years and the war growing outside of the protective walls of the castle brought forth the awareness that hadn’t been there before. Choosing a side was simple for James.Â
There was no question in him whether he should join the fighting or not. He had a goal, a naive one, of keeping his loved ones safe and sound, and that meant being proactive. And his parents, though they were afraid for him, showed support. He didn’t need to worry about money or his future as he returned to live with them and joined what little action he was allowed to participate in as a literal kid at war. But when the war ended, with both leaders dead, he didn’t know what to do. He has had hobbies and things he loved to do before he graduated, but there had never really been much thought in his mind for the future further away. On a whim, he applied for an intern position at the Ministry of Magic and somehow landed the job. Now, two years later, he’s on a steady rise, secure in the office work that allows him to explore the behind-the-stage of the industry that had fascinated him so much when he was younger.
But the past is not something he can forget and move on from. It sometimes catches up with him, how odd it is that after all the fear and all the fighting he’s allowed to have this peace, where his biggest problem is getting the right person to sign the correct document. He will never stop looking behind his shoulder wherever he’s walking down the street, and will never stop trying to read the miniscule expressions on strangers’ faces least their intentions are malicious.
But life has different hardships for him now. His parents, old now even by the Wizarding standards, are frail and in constant need of help. His mother in particular is suffering from dementia and so James never moved out, helping out where he can and making sure she’s well taken care of and that his father isn't alone in that endevour.Â
It's his own personal battle now.Â
