Maximilian – Max if you please – has grown up with a furry little problem all his life. You know, he’s a werewolf. His dad’s human so needless to say it was a bit of a shock to the system when his mom had to fill him in on the supernatural world. You see when you’re born to one werewolf and one human there’s presumably a one in two chance that you’ll grow up human. Max was part of the unlucky other half – depending on how you look at things. He started to get sick roundabout his fifteenth birthday and his mom decided to give him the bite in order to save his life. Max took everything well considering and grew up a healthy, happy and mostly normal kid. He played on a bunch of his school’s sports teams, was a member of the prom court and got a ton of college acceptance letters. In short his life was good. Okay so maybe his friends might have teased him a little over the fact that he never had a girlfriend and was pretty much the King of the Friendzone but that’s not really a real thing his eye rolls would say. He’s a good friend and some guys are meant to be the shoulders to cry on. Some guys are meant to carry your purse. Some guys are meant to bring pizza over at 3am because you just broke up with that ass-hat Troy or Chad or whatever his name was.

Mr. Good Guy – that’s who Max is. Mr Pushover? Maybe but it’s nice to be nice, you know? He was one year into college when he met her. Now you see growing up with a supportive half-werewolf family he’d learned how to be in control during the full moon a long time ago. Running around, stretching his furry legs under the silvery glow of the moon was just another one-day-in-the-month for him. Only this particular full moon he ran smack bang into another wolf – a black-eyed one. Keeping his distance he tracked her all through the night and waited with blankets until she woke up the next morning as her human self. That was the night he met Bethany Morales. She had been bitten – she couldn’t remember the attack all too clearly – and had ran from her home-town Havensdale Valley afterwards. She was eighteen and scared and there was no way he was going to walk away from her – he couldn’t. From that point on Max took it upon himself to look after Bethany. They become great friends. Best friends in fact. He taught her everything there was to know and soon enough she had her life back on track.

Graduating top of his class Max went on to teach and Bethany took on a number of odd jobs as well as classes. They were living together and it was really great to have her around especially during the full moon. Max was the one who taught her self-control and how to enjoy the transitions. There was one full moon Bethany went running away from him after hearing screams. It was stupid of her to run but Max followed. Humans were being attacked by a group of black-eyed wolves and it was because of Bethany that they both managed to save two of these humans. Margaret Lewis and Harry Lewis made the transition to werewolves and stayed with both himself and Bethany. With those two in their care and seeing just how much Bethany had grown as a woman and a wolf he finally said what he’d been thinking for months. Bethany was Alpha material. She was a real leader, caring, protective… She was wonderful. Taken aback at first Bethany agreed to take on the responsibility. She just wanted save those who had been hurt just like she had and Max wanted to teach them that it wasn’t so bad after all. Later they came across a lone wolf named Drake Santos and adopted him into their pack too. Max does have his doubts about him but Bethany has faith and he has faith in Bethany – that’s all that matters.

Max was born to one human parent and one werewolf one. He was what is known as a ‘half-life’. There was a 1:2 chance that when he reached a certain age he’d start to get sick- really sick and would either die human or be bitten and make the transition into a werewolf. Max was that one because he did get sick but he also received the bite and made it.

Life as a werewolf isn’t so bad for him. It’s just a part of who he is now and he likes to enjoy it as best he can. Yeah the supernatural world is messed up and do not even get him started on vampires but all in all it’s pretty good.

When Bethany and he agreed to take Margaret and Harry into their home so they could be a real pack- a real family- he was overjoyed. He just wanted to make sure they were safe and happy. He sees Maggie almost like a daughter and Harry as that best friend of a little brother he never had. They really are his family.

Then Drake came along. Max immediately felt distrustful of him and as a werewolf you’d expect his instincts to be pretty strong but Bethany told him to relax. Max is trying but Drake is just trouble- there are no two ways about it. There’s something shady going on with him and Max intends to find out what it is.

Another thing he intends to find is who bit Bethany in the first place. Max had heard rumours of an up and coming War but they’re just rumours so he hasn’t though anything of them. At least he hasn’t told Bethany about them yet.
