She winced when he touched her face. The question got to her slowly. "I... I don't know..." she said way later than she should. "I was alone..."

“No not for 30 years. Look you ended up being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I just need to sort a few things out.” Carter knew at some point her FBI friends would come looking for her. The last thing he needed right now was for Derek Levine to bust in and tear the place apart.

“Carter! What the hell is all that noise? Is that bitch putting up a fight?” He heard one of his father’s associates shout out from behind the door. Carter walked to the door and slammed his hand against it. “I’m handling the situation Vlad. Go report that to… him instead of wasting time outside this damn door. Remember who you work for asshole.” He kicked the door in frustration and then glared at Flora. “Do you want to deal with him instead?” He hoped that would have scared her enough to cooperate for now.

“Well that is not my fault, is it?” she repeated stubbornly, still some of that fire remaining in her. However, she pushed her back against the chair when she heard another guy shout at him. Vlad. Did she know a Vlad? She didn’t recognize the voice, so it had to be someone new working for them. However, this person sounded much more violent than her kidnapper. … Carter. Things slowly started getting back to her - of what she had seen, who she had seen.

He walked to the chair and gripped his hands onto the back of it. He dragged the chair to the grey wall directly behind them. “If you don’t learn to control your mouth, you’re not going to make it.” He said coldly as he abruptly let go of the chair so that it slightly shook her up.

“If I let you go they will go after you and finish the job so like I said be quiet and you will survive.” Carter didn’t know how he got himself into this situation or how Flora had to be at the warehouse of all places. He sighed and walked to her. “I’m not going anywhere but for now we’re both stuck here. If you don’t yell again then maybe you don’t have to be restrained.”

“Okay I’m going to need you to calm down. You’re safe... for now. Don’t do anything stupid.”

Carter glared at Flora. “Are you sure you didn’t have a brain injury as well? Because you act as if you can’t understand simple instructions.” He said bitterly. He thought that maybe if he was rude enough she would leave on her own before she saw his father who was hiding behind a stack of pallets in the warehouse. “I own this warehouse now and you’re trespassing. It’s time for you to leave.”

She gasped at his comment “I thought you had gotten some manners when I saw you at the supermarket, but clearly you have lost all of them,” she said at him with an offended voice. She couldn’t believe this guy. He popped up in every place where she didn’t want him. She didn’t want to see him at all. “You own this?” she let out a laugh. “Since when? What are you going to do with it, sell drugs?” She stepped inside two steps further. “Since you own it, it shouldn’t be a problem for me to be here. Just a few minutes.” She sighed. “Please, I need this.”

Carter recently found out that his father was still alive. He finally thought he was free to forge his own destiny and then the man who poisoned his life was back. He took control of the mob and was back to his nefarious ways. “What was that?” Mr Reed asked after hearing the voice of what sounded like a young woman. “I’ll check it out.” Carter mumbled as he walked to the entrance. He saw what appeared to be the Flower girl who he always seemed to run into at the most inappropriate times. “You shouldn’t be here.” He said as he emerged from the shadows. She couldn’t see his father alive, she was too close with his father’s enemies and Carter knew his father wouldn’t mind eliminating her. He wouldn’t let it happen but he also knew Flora never really listened to him. “If you were smart, you’d walk out that door right now. Do you understand?”

As Flora stepped inside the warehouse, she thought she heard footsteps. You’re crazy, she told herself. There was nothing here. The building was even more abandoned than before Sapphire and hear had gotten into the explosion here. But her gut feeling was right. She jumped up when she heard a low voice. Her hand shot to her waist, but she realized she had left her gun at the FBI, thinking she was done for the day. She stepped back carefully till she could see who the figure was. “Carter,” she let out in a breath. She shook her head. “What are you doing here? It’s supposed to be empty here. Why should I go if you’re here?”

“Come on Derek, I’ll be fine, it’s not going to explode twice,” Flora laughed as she kissed the cheek of her best friend with the golden hair. “Besides, you know I have to do this alone. See you tomorrow at the training?” she asked before leaving the FBI headquarters. She was going back to the place of her accident, where she had been in an explosion. After months of rehabilitation, she was doing good. Her body wasn’t as strong as it had been, but she was already incredibly grateful to be back on her feet. Now only her mind still needed to get back to a good place. And she knew she needed to visit the place of the accident again to find closure. For the nightmares to stop. Because it had happened, but it was over now. She drove her car - an old wreck bought from an old lady, and she loved it - to the abandoned building almost outside of town. She swallowed as she stepped out. It didn’t even look as dark as she had thought, almost like it was still used. The windows were now closed with wood instead of windows. She used her phone as a flashlight as she pushed against the door and it quickly opened to her surprise. “Come on Flora, you’ve got this,” she stepped inside slowly.

“I just won’t say anything that will put you in an awkward situation.” Carter knew that was easier said than done. It wasn’t like he could come home with a blood stained shirt one day and not be able to explain what happened. Carter wrapped his arms around her waist, closing the space between them as he kissed her passionately.

“And I won’t tell anyone anything you tell me.” It was hitting her so much now just how much she had missed him, even if Sapphire had been the one to walk out the door. Her hand tangled into his hair, caressing his neck as she kissed him. She pulled back slightly, eyes flicking around the kitchen, “It shouldn’t surprise me that this place looks exactly the same and yet it does.”
