With Nephi shifting around, Keonhee checked to be sure the other was okay and tried to move with him to make the maneuvering easier on him. He let off a small breath, tilting his head on the pillow a little bit to look at the other again. Conflicting things aside, it's... kinda nice just relaxing like this and the son of Ryujin hoped they could do it more often once they worked things out properly.
And yes... Nephi was... a lot. Before and after they'd met again here but at the very least the shorter was set on getting better. On them being healthier. It got him bonus points at the very least.
"Yeah..." Keonhee sighed a little, staring down at where the other was playing with his fingers. That's another comfort, knowing Nephi wasn't keen on the either but still taking the responsibility. He could understand it more with that too. "We're stupid, honestly, but at least we're going to try to fix it with this then. I can agree that we need to."
He nodded at the plan's outline. It made sense too, though it'd be... difficult-- it was necessary to go that far. The few months as a time frame did ease the rest of the apprehension he had about it too. "Okay... is it alright if I stay here for a bit though? Kinda like a last thing before we go no contact? We never really... did stuff like this and it's kinda nice to do it for a little bit." He paused. "Though if you don't like it as much, that's fine too."
Nephi hesitated for a moment. His eyes, first fixed on Keonhee, travelled to his lips and he stared at them, trying to resist as much as he could to the temptation of their pink plumpness. But his will was too weak and he leant down to kiss the other, quickly but gently.
And Keonhee was too good for this world and deserved far more than what the son of Anubis could ever give him. But he was going to try anyway, if the Japanese demigod allowed him to.
Nephi couldn't help but to chuckle. In all honesty, it was a perfect way to summary the situation. "Yeah, I agree, especially me." He moved a little closer, their foreheads now almost touching. "But I really want to try because I think it's worth it. You're worth it" he added in a whisper. Time was what they needed and the Egyptian was glad that Keonhee would have his sister besides him.
It could take less or more time, of course, but two months seemed reasonable. Physical healing would take him some time too and he truly needed it. He could feel Keonhee calming down at the idea and it reassured him. He nodded at the question, offering a little smile. "Of course. You can stay as long as you need or want." Despite their discussion, it was a nice moment and he wanted to enjoy it a bit longer.
Same Scent MV Behind :: Hwanwoong
She paused in thought of his question. What did she wish? Well, in many ways, Yue was quite satisfied with her life as it was. Even if she had gotten a bit materialistic to be able to keep up with her job, the demigoddess was raised in a rather simplistic lifestyle. As long as she got to be the chaotic person she was, she was happy. "My special wish? I just hope that when I meet my soulmate that they are a simple person. I don't have time to love a hero or villain. If you call that a wish, I guess." She reasoned.
At the mention of a sibling, she thought for a moment. "Of course. I assume siblings would have a similar range of powers. It would be nice to know more about what they have experienced. Some of the philosophy with my powers can be a bit... overwhelming." Yue did not mind being a child of Yue Lao, not the powers that came with it. But at times, they were hard to decipher, even more for her to believe were fair.
When Nephi spoke, she nodded her head with a light grin. "The food here, even the little snacks, are quite the treat, especially in the right company!" She said, taking a small piece off the tray before settling back in her seat. "Yes. Of course. You know, my attention is not free, no matter how intrigued I am to be here." She teases him, playfulness imbued in each word. While Yue was sitting with him because she wanted to, it was the culture of Sakura for him to pay for his maid.
Nephi nodded at her answer, that was an interesting one. But he could understand it though, he himself wished that his own relationship with Keonhee could be simpler than it was. No more hurting, no more tears in the other eyes, no more broken hearts and memories of fire against soft skin. Then I hope that you'll find your happiness he softly said. You deserve it.
But he didn't and that was alright.
"Mm... They do. At least my sister does but it's not like we care for each other much" Nephi acquiesced. He was totally fine with Nora not being into his life anymore. Maybe another sibling would be different but he wasn't in a hurry to discover it. "Do you mind sharing who's your godly parent ?" he asked at her remark, his curiosity piqued.
The son of Anubis grinned, reaching for one of the snacks and munching on it. It was absolutely delicious. "Yes, of course. And I don't mind or else I wouldn't be there." Paying for someone's attention didn't bother him but he was lucky to have found Yingyue. She was cute and interesting but her interest in him still seemed genuine. He probably would never admit it but he was quite thankful for it.
The little squeeze of his hand did help a little too, though he was still a bit frantic the tumbling thoughts had slowed. He still wasn't sure about any of it, but the assurances still did their job. He'd sighed a little, leaning in when pulled closer. He couldn't really argue the other's remarks, as much as he wished he could.
Nephi was right and at certain small points he did agree slightly (their relationship as it was, wasn't a great one with too many uncertainties and not great contexts) but at the same time he couldn't help but want to deny other points (being 'good enough' for someone wasn't a concept he could agree with, no ones perfect and the idea of someone not being good enough for another person was a whole other level of things beyond everything else). But all that aside, he mostly could understand where the shorter was coming from.
"I don't really... like it, everything's all... mixed up. But I know there's a lot of stuff we need to actually deal with in many ways. Like... feelings... and what we are... and stuff like that. It all got really complicated, really fast." He murmured back, half hesitant before just pushing it all out, the whole situation has been extremely muddled for a while now.
He took a breath, sighing more afterwards. "What are we doing... and what are we going to do? Taking a break basically? But a full... plan... might help? Since it's not forever, lining it out will help with making sure we can actually... sort out all-- this." He made a vague gesture, indicating the general energy of the conversation and the things being said along with the things not being fully said too.
Nephi shifted in the bed, holding a wince of pain as he moved, moving Keonhee around until their heads rested together on the pillow. The young man was calmer but the son of Anubis still didn't let go of his hand. It was warm against his own skin and he felt quite peaceful, even if the circumstances of that moment weren't the best.
Was it what intimacy was supposed to be ? It was nice and he could easily get used to it.
There was being 'good enough' and there was 'being an asshole' and, unfortunately for Keonhee, Nephi belonged to the second category. Even if they now got along, there was such a common past behind them that they needed to address and heal before they could totally be happy together. As happy as possible anyway, after everything that had happened between them, even before Mount Phoenix.
"I don't like it more than you" Nephi answered, playing with the other's fingers. "But we need to. We jumped into this... relationship without thinking and we should have. I really didn't imagine it'd go that far." He nodded as Keonhee talked, looking up at him.
The Egyptian demigod offered the other a small smile, so discreet than only someone knowing him well could notice. "Yes, basically. Not seeing each other for a while. Maybe a couple of months ?" He would need some time to heal too. "Would that be ok for you ? Maybe it could help us to know if we really want to be together ?" And then they could look for a way to resolve their other problems.

Yue nodded her head. "Most definitely." Years ago, while traveling by foot to help one of her clients follow the red string to their soulmate, the pair had gotten stuck outside in the woods in a bad storm. The crash of thunder and lightning around them had been absolutely terrifying, and having been in dangerous conditions, those feels seemed to always come back at the drop of a storm. Nothing he needed to know. Yue wondered if they would even see each other after this.
Tilting her head in thought, she ultimately shook it. "No. Blackmail is rather boring. Why get yourself in potential trouble? I definitely want the fun route. Maybe internal thought to know how they really think about someone. Or, to know what their wants and wishes are. That definitely gives you an idea about someone." She reasoned, rather pleased with herself at the thought. At his question though, she raised a brow. The demigoddess merely shrugged. "While I do not know of one, I cannot say they do not exist."
The demigoddess smiled. "Sounds good. I think I will get me a lemon drop. It is the yummiest. But, give me a few minutes. I will be back with our treats." The demigoddess explained. With a smile, she slid from the table, and it did not take long for her to return with two drinks carefully balanced in one hand as a snack platter did the other.
Events of that kind always left a mark on a person. Even when growing up and becoming adults, childhood's trauma could come back at any moment. A sound, a smell () Anything could trigger such a memory. He had been free of them for a long time but now, after his meeting with Yanluo, Nephi's nights were full of nightmares of blood and beating hearts in his hands.
They might not see each other again but, at least, this meeting would remain engraved in his memory. It was fun and easy, no strings attached.
Nephi pondered her words for a few moments, thoughtfully tapping his chin. "I guess you could do that, it does sound fun." It wasn't something he needed though, able to read others' hearts at will, playing with their feelings and fears if needed. "What about you though ?" he asked, grinning. "Do you have any special wish ?" He considered her answer, he liked the logic of it. "Would you be interested to have siblings ?"
The son of Anubis leant against the booth as he waited. The evening was turning out better than he had expected it to be. Yingyue was an agreeable company and he somehow hoped that something could come out of this. Some friendship, even. "Oh, that looks delicious !" Nephi exclaimed, standing to help her with the glasses. "I hope you told them to put those on my tab ?"
That stare did not last for long; it wasn't meant to; usually, when Vitas looked at someone--whether it be in annoyance or not--it was unsettling, but he rarely let it linger regardless of reaction (or lack of reaction) that he received. Before the stranger spoke, his gaze had already redirected to the floor, not looking to anything in particular until the guy asked if he worked there. The motion in his limited peripheral vision warranted a glance toward the name tag.
New hire.
Gae Nephi.
Anubis charms on his lanyard. Likely Egyptian pantheon--or perhaps one of those Egyptomaniacs who were completely obsessed with the ancient culture; he'd met quite a few of those during his studies and travels; but, given their location, the former was more likely. His own lanyard demonstrated the two pewter ravens as well as the single enamel raven charm on the ring attached to the badge. Now, he could have responded to that question with a snarky comment about wearing random name badges for shits and giggles, but he didn't. New coworker. Historian coworker. Annoyance dissipated to what may have been interpreted as an inkling of respect for that position.
"Yes," he responded with a subtle gesture of his fingers toward the 'archivist' position written on his badge. "It appears we will be working frequently with each other. Welcome to the team."
Nephi didn't mind the stare though, it wasn't very different than his own. People were interesting to meet, especially new ones, but he always tried to remain as indifferent as he could. It was a good camouflage, allowing him to read the others' hearts while his own remained secret. So he noticed the young man quickly looking anywhere else but him.
The son of Anubis' gaze moved to the designated badge and it lingered on the two ravens charms. They were beautiful and elegant and a small smile graced Nephi's lips. Probably another demigod proud of his heritage. "Vitas Halvorsen" he repeated after reading the name. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Archivist. And thank you, I'm really glad to meet another of my new colleagues."
Surprisingly, it was true. The young Egyptian felt at his place, probably for the first time since his arrival on the island.
"In fact, I think you are the person I was looking for." He showed the documents in his arms. "Those had been forgotten by my predecessor but I guess they belong to the Library ?"
For the newest coworker @mpnephi
It was all part of the routine: scanning documents, translating them, uploading them to the digital archives, and returning the original materials to the library circulation desk. That was just what Vitas did this day, which thus far had proven to be a fairly typical day. He liked it that way, when things went how they were supposed to go without any unexpected interruptions--though he did usually make accommodations. Usually.
As he returned an armful of materials to the circulation desk, he had heard someone approaching from behind, but did not acknowledge them, assuming they mean to speak to the librarian on the other side of the counter who was already assisting another patron; however, upon turning around, he realized he had underestimated how close the individual was, having been in the blind spot to his left and thus the archivist took a sharp step to the side, out of the way, giving this person a stern look that all but screamed a warning about invading someone's personal space despite his silence.
Nephi hated to admit it but he was still a bit shaken. He had obtained the job he had dreamed about forever, Historian at the Phoenix Library & Museum. He wasn't truly sure how he had managed that deed but he was thrilled, impatient to start. But the most important was he truly felt at his place, probably for the first time in his life.
And, of course, the job came with a private office. Not the biggest one but it was enough for him, where he would be able to build his own universe (without the canopic jars though). So he spent his first day cleaning and arranging the place, reuniting the old documents forgotten there by the former occupant.
The afternoon was well advanced when Nephi finally took the path to the Library, a pile of old books and documents in his arms to return them where they belonged. All the librarians were busy assisting people so he just stood there, right behind another young man, waiting for his turn. It didn't take long until the other noticed him, moving away and Nephi could feel the annoyance at his close presence. But he didn't budge under the eyes (eye ?) throwing daggers at him, his own gaze fixed on the lanyard around the man's neck.
"Hey, do you work here too ?" he simply asked, pointing to his own badge.
Yue raised a finger to her chin, tapping it as she did think. While she was playful, she would give a real answer too. She wanted a real conversation. Flirting was her speed, but since he seemed captivated by someone else, she was not as motivated to focus on that. Though, that did not mean a stray flirt would not happen. She was Jiang Yingyue after all.
"Fears we hide from?" She tilted her head back and forth before halting. "If so, then, they are long forgotten! I guess a thunderstorm does quite bother me at times. But, that is the extent that I can tell you." Yue had nothing to hide from the other, so she had been completely honest. The fear would just have to surprise her, and when it did, she would deal with it then.
Though, his question stopped her from thinking on it further. "Well, I wonder if those demigods can turn it off or do so intentionally. If I can listen when I want to, then I think it would be fun. But, I get your point too." Returning her hands to her side of the table, she nodded her head. at his question. "Yes. Thank you. It translates to 'reflection of the moon.' Which seems fitting based on my father." She chuckles softly. When they had figured out her heritage, she had been the first to see the connection.
Finally turning her attention back to him, the fact he was unsure where the other was raised some red flags, but she did not see it appropriate to comment on it. "Mhh. I see." She states, offering him a smile. "Nephi, did you want anything to drink? A small snack? We should make sure you have a good night!"
Oh, Nephi didn't mind the flirting. It was amusng, interesting even. A good way for him to see her strengths and weaknesses. He was too involved with Keonhee to have any romantic feelings for someone else.
He chuckled at her answer. That girl was truly growing on him, finally someone interesting. He was still on the defensive, as almost always when he was meeting a new person, but she was truly an agreeable person to deal with, someone he could have a stimulating conversation with. He felt no conflict in her heart so he knew she was speaking the truth. "I'm glad for you then !" he exclaimed, grinning. "Thunderstorms can be quite scary sometimes."
Nephi leant on the back of his chair again, tapping on his chin the same way Yingyue had done before. "This is a good argument" he commented. "Also, it depends what you intend to do with what you hear. Blackmailing could be quite a possibility." He got lost in his thoughts for a few moments, considering her answer. "It's quite a lovely name. But tell me... Do you happen to have a half-sister ? I know someone who loves walks in the moonlight."
The son of Anubis wasn't going to reveal much more. Keonhee and him had a lot of things to settle before knowing exactly where they stood. And not of this concerned Yingyue in any way. He jumped on the question, appreciating the diversion. "An Old Fashioned sounds good. And some snacks would be welcome. What about you ?"

Chang'e observed the demigod for a moment, letting him take her in before shifting as she caught the little wince that followed as the other abruptly sat up. "Careful." She stated softly, reaching out a hand that had surrounded itself in a warm and comforting glow. She eased the pain a little for the other, fingers gentle as she lightly touched the demigod's shoulder. She couldn't heal him much more than she already had, but at least she could sooth the ache while she was there.
"Yes, I am." She began, taking a seat once she'd finished making sure the demigod's pain was soothed for another hour or so. "I heard it was lucky I came across you. You were in a terrible state. But it's not a problem. You may have died if I hadn't found you, I'm just happy that I did. I'm glad you're awake now. You should definitely be careful though..." It had been clear he had picked a fight with something or someone more powerful than he was, so the warning was necessary.
Nephi seemed to relax as soon as the goddess touched him. Her hand was warm against him and he could feel the same heat spreading into his whole body. He curiously looked at the soft glow as he leant against his pillows. The pain was subduing and he felt better, comfortable even. "It's nice" he whispered.
He turned his head to look at her as she sat near the bed, his eyes then looking down at his hands in his lap. He nodded at her words. "Yeah, it seems so. I don't even remember how I came back to the city, I truly was lucky to meet you." Now that the events were coming back to him, he truly realized how foolish he had been. I will try.
Slowly, he looked up at the goddess, carefully extanding a hand towards her. "I'm Nephi" he announced. "But you probably know that already."
Keonhee listened as the other explained what happened, almost moving to try and soothe the pain he could see in the shrug before stopping and gently squeezing the other's free hand instead. He couldn't heal or anything like that but he wanted to help in some way.
He did freeze, however, when the other's whisper dropped. He'd nearly panicked, not sure what to say or how to react given the sudden and rather upsetting remark (things aside, he wasn't built to deal with sudden confusing surprises like that) until the other added 'at least for now'. He calmed down a little with that, glancing down at their hands and Nephi's fingers messing with his own.
There's... a lot of things they needed to work out properly and to work through too, it's true. Tsukiko's comments still stuck with him now, weeks later. But... He just... He didn't know why or how, or what even happened to make Nephi suggest this. Maybe the other had gone through some realizations but...
"Why...?" He opted to ask, at least to get a reason. He's in a mild turmoil but a reason could help him understand better.
Nephi probably would never admit it aloud but Keonhee's simple presence was enough for the son of Anubis to feel a bit better. The young man had been a soothing presence in the last months and he truly appreciated that, how the other had calmed his mind.
The Egyptian felt the confusion, the panic in the other's heart so he squeezed his hand tightly, wanting to reassure him. It wasn't a goodbye, at least not yet. Things were bad, really bad, but there was still a possibility they could go better. With time and patience, things that Nephi knew he had to learn. He almost died, that had put things into perspective for him.
"Please calm down" he said, pulling the other closer. "But I don't think I'm good enough for you. I hurt you so much already and I don't want anything else to happen to you." He reached up and gave a quick caress to the Japanese demigod's cheek.
"It'll be alright, Keonhee, I promise. I'll try my best, for you."
Yue settled comfortably across from the man before her. The conversation kept her interested. He appeared harmless to her, at least in this setting. She doubted she would see him outside of it, but she was always open to being wrong.
“I’m not a delicate, little lady. I don’t think there is much that can scare me at this point.” She said with a smile. In her travels and pursuit of creating love, there were many dangerous and nearly deadly situations that she ran into. Had it not been for her training in the monastery, she may not be here. “Sadly, I cannot read minds though. What a power that would be to have!”
Lifting her hand, she chuckled softly into it before moving it to take Nephi’s hand, delicately resting it in his palm to signify that she did not want merely a shake. “Nephi, the pleasure is mine. My name is Yingyue, but many people just call me Yue.” Smiling at the other, she was rather intrigued. “While I do love a challenge, I would never dare to threaten love. What kind of demigoddess would I be? I am curious though. Is your heart bandit busy tonight?”
Looking harmless was one of his strength. No one would suspect someone like him to be able of any kind of violence and it had often been an advantage. He had seen the surprise on so many faces while their hearts were ripped by his small hands. Being wrong about Nephi often meant death so maybe it was better not to see him anywhere else than at Sakura.
"Are you sure ? We all have fears we hide far away until we think we forgot them" he answered, copying her smile. Of course, he ignored her past or her heritage so he couldn't be totally sure she wasn't lying. But given his own experiences, everyone feared things they didn't want to admit. "I wouldn't want that, to be honest. All those voices in your head, all the time... Wouldn't it be annoying ?" People's emotions were far easier to manage.
Nephi kept the contact as much as she did. "Yue... It's Chinese, isn't it ? It's a pretty name." As pretty as she was. Given her words, he concluded that she was related to a god of love. They reminded him of Jiayi too, the discussion in the moonlight, an eternity ago it seemed. He considered her question, slowly taking back his hand. "I'm not sure. I guess he's at home ?" Anywhere away from him would be good.
Yingyue was rather pleased, amused even. She feigned as if she had to consider such a question. Though, her own mind was not full of rainbows and unicorns, nor did she think it was as really as dark as he claimed. While she could be quite the bubbly woman, Yingyue find too much interest in fighting and violence to ever mirror such a description. In many ways, it was a rather hard ordeal to make her be uninterested in anyone.
"A little doom and gloom makes life exciting. Someone with only rainbows and unicorns in their mind has lived a rather uninteresting life." She reasons to the other, no need to hide her though pattern. Yingyue knew she interesting enough to just be herself. "So, still makes it a worthwhile prize as long as the content within it has some merit."
With such an interesting set of clientele, Sakura had been only slightly what Yingyue imagined. However, she should have known better regarding an island of powered individuals. "The only difference from the heart and mind is it's energy. The heart brings about passion and desire. The mind brings forth logic and intelligence. So, if I have consumed your thoughts, I have won all of your brain power and shifted your thought. If I had won your heart, I'd have been awarded your emotionality and drive. Regardless, they are both equal prizes for me."
She would be surprised. Nephi's appearance, his small and lean body hid a darkness far bigger than him, something he couldn't always contain. He was trying though, especially since his meeting with Yanluo, since he had truly understood that he was nothing compared to a god. He was still interested by people, their weaknesse and their hearts, doing his best to keep his greedy paws away from them.
"I agree" he answered, his lips turning up into a smile. All the people he had met so far on the island were hiding pain and shadows behind their own smiles. Only their eyes showed the truth as he could feel the agony of their souls in his very core. He looked into the young woman's gaze but found only honesty there. He liked that. "I guess so. I think you wouldn't be disappointed if you saw what was going on in my mind."
Blood. There was so much blood up there. And bright eyes and a scar above a heart.
Nephi considered her words, carefully, taking his time to answer. She was smart and he realized that he had no desire to kill her, no urge to plunge his hand into her chest and squeeze the life out of her. To consume her heart, to steal her desire and passion. "I'm afraid that you arrive too late though. Someone had found mine before you."
He let a few moments pass before holding his hand out to her. "I'm Nephi, nice to meet you."
( reunion with a deadly child ) x nephi
for @mpnephi
it was a monday, and as per usual, yanluo spent mondays wearing his beloved robes. today he was not at work though, and still wouldn't be for a while, but he was out and about. on the to-do list for the day was a visit to both his son and xiwangmu at asclepius hospital. he had visited xiwangmu there before and would be popping in for a brief chat after he'd gone to check-up on his son. yanluo had brought with him some healthy energising fruit juices and some still-steaming, homemade egg drop soup in a tupperware container. benji's eating habits were abysmal at best, yanluo had noticed, and he hoped that what he'd bring would help his son get through the day. working as a nurse was a highly demanding job after all!
and so when yanluo entered the hospital, he ignored the looks of interest - most likely because of his attire - and went straight for the reception desk. placing the bundle of wrapping cloth in which he'd wrapped the food delicately atop the counter. yanluo smiled politely, and asked the lady where he could find his son, at which department he worked. unfortunately, yanluo hadn't gotten round to asking benji himself yet.
as yanluo was talking, the stench of a murderer suddenly wafted towards him and the god's smile froze. he remained where he was, however, as the smell was a familiar one. yanluo took a sharp breath, trying to keep himself composed. he hadn't turned around yet because he couldn't and wouldn't. because he knew that if he turned around and gazed upon that sick child without having taken control of both his emotions, rationale and powers, that he would lash out and undoubtedly actually kill the demigod. no interruptions this time.
however, as yanluo was grounding himself, his aura had changed, becoming somewhat menacing and the receptionist was stuttering at this point, reaching a hand out into the direction where yanluo would have to walk in order to get to benji's department. the god's smile unfroze but it had become a bit stiff by now. his eyes were crimson red but he thanked the lady politely. as yanluo turned around, hand holding tight onto the bundle of food, he found himself looking straight into the eyes of the demigod he despised most.
Nephi was truly trying to do better. The urge to kill was still there, still gnawing at him, unbearable at time. He didn't allow himself to go out too much unless necessary, knowing the temptation would be too hard to resist. His outing to Sakura had been his only exception to that new rule and he was thankful for Yingyue's company that night, for keeping his mind away from thoughts of beating hearts and bloody chests.
But surprisingly (well, maybe not), the thing he missed the most was Keonhee. He was so used to the other's presence by his side, his conversations and the warmth of his body that everything seemed empty without him around. He constantly wondering what the Japanese demigod was doing and though he would never admit it, he hoped that he was fine, relieved that his sister was there to take care of him.
As for his own siblings... Nora was a lost cause but Tau, Tau was good. He had been excited about having a younger brother, willing to meet him again, even giving him his phone number in case Nephi needed him. They had texted almost everyday since then, sharing memories of their common birth country, Egypt. Someone was caring for him and he felt good for that.
But on that cold Monday morning, Nephi found himself at the hospital once more. A scheduled check-up to make sure that his wounds were healing well and some physiotherapy for muscles reinforcement. It was painful, it was long but he knew it was necessary if he wanted to keep all of his physical capacities.
As he was leaving his therapist and crossing the welcoming hall, Nephi stopped in his tracks, feeling his chest constrict. It was hard to miss Yanluo's silhouette by the desk, his robes contrasting with the other people's modern clothes, his stature imposing a respect that the son of Anubis had denied him.
Seized by fear, the young man was unable to move, his eyes fixed on the other, the pain in his shoulders unbearable, making him want to throw up and disappear in a hole in the ground. And then the god turned around, their eyes meeting, the same crimson eyes he could see every night in his nightmares. Nephi moved back, trying to find an escape even if he knew there was no way that Yanluo would allow him to leave.

a short little check-in from the time he was injured for @mpnephi
After her normal patrol that lead into a subsequent rescue of a demigod in need of strong healing, Chang'e had been checking up on the demigod periodically. Upon receiving word the demigod she had helped was awake and coherent, the goddess opted to visit later that day after said demigod's guest had left. She wanted to visit and chat but she wouldn't have wanted to interrupt their meeting.
She had noticed Keonhee's worry early on and thought the boy deserved his time to ease it.
So, once the room was clear and ready for another guest, the goddess gave a light knock on the door before entering. "Hello there." She greeted, a soft smile on her lips as she spoke and approached the bed where the demigod laid. "I'd ask how you were feeling but I imagine you've already heard it today and I won't make you suffer answering again. I am Chang'e, I believe you were probably given the basic run down but if you have extra questions I can potentially answer them."
Nephi groaned at the knock, having just sent Keonhee away after a difficult discussion and hurtful decisions taken. He truly didn't need or want someone else to bother him, not with the lump he could feel in his throat. So he didn't answer but the door still opened and someone came in. He only shrugged in answer and turned to look at the newcomer.
It was a woman, pretty and elegant with long and silky black hair. And from her came a strong aura, alike but also very different than the god's he had tried to kill in a dark alley of the city above the Bridge. A goddess.
The son of Anubis immediately sat in the bed, bowing his head, a soft wince from the movement painting itself on his face. He now knew better than not showing respect to a deity. "Hi" he whispered, gesturing towards the chair to invite her to sit down.
Chang'e. The Chinese moon goddess Keonhee had just told him about. "You're the one who save me, right ? I... Thank you."
Yingyue easily flowed from the wall to her seat once she received confirmation from him. She had expected him to let her sit. What was the point in going to Sakura if not for her or the other maids/hosts attention? And, she had to guess he was bored all alone, though she did not give that too much mind.
Crossing her legs, the demigoddess leaned toward the table, allowing her elbow to perch on the table so that she could rest her cheek upon her hand. Yingyue was interest, curious more than anything. Each table presenting her with a new possibility, whether it was a good outcome or bad.
"If you have no heart to steal? Then, I can steal your brain." She playfully responds. A bright and cheerful grin on her lips. Her words stayed light and lively. "To have your thoughts consumed by me is as dangerous as your heart beating for me."
He was bored, out of his mind bored. Not seeing Keonhee had been harder that he had thought it would be. He missed the other's presence, his smile, his pretty eyes. He missed their walks, their coffee shops' rendez-vous and, of course, all the things they did in the secrecy of their apartments.
Nephi wastched as the young woman sat face to him and settled in her seat. Her whole attitude was open, curious even but, of course, it was part of her job. He didn't mind though, that was still better than swimming in loneliness.
He chuckled at her words, leaning forward a bit, mirroring her position. "I hope you don't mind if my brain isn't all unicorns and rainbows though ? It's a bit dark up there" he said, gently tapping his finger against his temple. "Oh, is it now ? Please, tell me more about this, I'm quite passionate about hearts."
