Writing, Behind The Scenes

I’m off the familoos for Christmas celebrations with my mum (we eat chinese and watch lord of the rings whilst hate-wrapping presents last minute, very traditional) and I shall not be around on Christmas day to wish you all good tidings so I thought I’d do it now!

So, a merry Christmas to all who celebrate it and a happy holidays to everyone that doesn’t! And to my fellow writeblrs, I hope your new year is filled with excellent stories, the motivation to write them and more plot bunnies than actual rabbits in Easter! 

Awh! That’s really sweet, I’m so touched you do the exact same thing as me and save the last episode/chapter of something for as long as I can! 

Thank you so much, Kali is easily my favourite OC, and it is so difficult not to throw a “Kali” is ever other story now haha! I am doing lots better now, thanks, and I’ve been doing some more Cheap Thrills lately too, timed that well eh? 

Oh gosh, fanart?! :O Are you sure you don’t mind?? And let’s see, Kali is about 5′8, she’s a bit on the heavier, but her height helps even it out some, has good arm muscles! She’s got short red hair, very fluffy (I see it as similar to Selina’s from Gotham) grey-ish green eyes and she’s a full time mechanic for Purrferct motors. (a real place in Vegas, not far from her imaginary home) 

Made a book cover for the first part of CT, I wanna get the story so far printed out on Lulu and just have a solid copy for myself, which would be awesome and I’d never let anyone I know ever read it! 

So, I’ve been fairly inactive for quite a while, very un-talkative and extremely unsociable. I’ve been dealing with some issues that I don’t think is right of me to share. Also managing my new medication has been an absolute blast and I couldn’t write a word for nearly two months. 

For fans of Cheap Thrills, I’m so sorry about my absence and I hope you know that I’ve been slugging along with it, and the side story for Bella. 

And for friends and mutuals that have tagged me in anything, I’m hope you don’t think I’ve been ignoring you. I’ve just had a lot on my plate and honestly didn’t want to burden anyone with my foul mood and accompanying problems. 

On the plus side, things seem to be resolving themselves somewhat. I’m getting a little healthier day by day and Christmas is looking to be less of a stress for me this year financially (now if only every git would tell me what they bloody want -_- ). 

I’ve also managed to struggle my way into writing again, which has been really... I dunno, I wanna say soothing in a way. However I’ve somehow managed to come up with yet another story, a horror involving bitchy magical girls that I hope to introduce fairly soon.

And finally I have been practising  really hard at my photoshop colouring skills, and I coloured in this cutie recently:

As you can see I like playing with rainbows and she has the shiniest of butts. It’s not perfect, but I think I’m getting better at least.

I’ve been doing fairly well lately, been working diligently on Cheap Thrills, I’ve finished chapter 16 but it needs some heavy editing and I want to do more to the side story before I post it, so there’s a wait on that. Otherwise I’ve been tapping up my new story Calamity Cavalry, my epic fantasy story full of fighting and magic and betrayal and sky pirates! I’ve got most of the main characters backstories worked out and now I’ve just got to make notes on the history of the different races! 

Life has been pretty awful lately, and I’m feeling more antisocial than ever but I’m still trying and that’s really the best I can do.

I’ve been spending the past ...I’m not sure how many hours making a map for my new idea that I’m still fiddling with the title for. An original story about magic, inept rulers, war, sky pirates, flying mermaids, all kinds of fantasy races, possibly some romance, lots of adventure and all that good stuff! 

It feels very cliche, but I really just wanted to so something fun and if writing Cheap Thrills taught me anything, I can make a cliched idea somewhat readable

Besides, I learned that writing should be about what I want to see, not about what I think everyone wants to read, I managed to get so much of CT done just because I enjoyed writing it so much! (Promise I’m still working on it by the way!)

I’m currently working on the second part of Cheap Thrills, so let’s go from there!

1. First sentence of WIP

Kali had used fucking Takeover on me.

2. The genre

Comedy, Romance, Adventure, SI-OC, with a lot of dark themes and death.

3. Name and age of Main Characters

Kali is 26, Jasper’s 160-ish, and Izzy’s technically only a few weeks old.

4. First bit of dialogue

'Not yet, hon,' A final, fourth voice said, more coherently than the rest.

So a really thoughtful (and absolutely lovely) review I received this morning got the cogs in my head turning, and I have spent the entire day writing nothing but notes so I can finally get back to Cheap Thrills!

I’ve been having a ridiculously difficult time trying to tie in Bella’s side story with the main fic, and a lot of the time I just stare at my keyboard in dread. Patiently trying to work on it in the back of my head has really paid off and I’ve got over half the side story planned out and two chapters written. 

Something that ties in both stories and is a main plot point for the next part, is the witch. Working in her motivations and who she actually is has been the most trying part, but I feel like I’ve got a better grasp of her character and I couldn’t be happier! I think when I can sort of see how an OC would talk to someone in my head, I’ve got a handle on who they are. I’m really looking forward to introducing her!

So life has been a little bit busy lately, I went away to Wales with my boyfriend and had a great time, there was a deaded keyboard incident, and other than that I’ve buggered up my usual sleeping pattern so I keep waking up at 4am D:

But, onto writing! 

I’ve been working on a couple of things, I’ve restarted my Naruto fic and it’s got about 38 pages now. I also restarted my Shaman king fic too, just cause I didn’t like how fast it was going, it’s a story big on friendship, and I felt like that needed to be built a little more.

As for Cheap Thrills, well I’ve been doing lots AROUND that. I’ve made lots of notes and I have so many ideas for what Kali and Izzy are going to do whilst they’re on the run. I typed up the letter to Jasper that Kali leaves for him to find, but most importantly, I’ve been working very hard on the Bella’s side story, Chasing Home.

My last one sort of malfunctioned somehow (it actually was not my fault this time) so I’ve been waiting impatiently for this sexy bitch :D

I got a venom, mechanical gaming keyboard, and seeing as how I play a lot of games in my free time, the helpfully marked WASD keys will definitely be handy!

Five basic facts about your OC

She’s got a mouth on her

She isn’t afraid of a fight (bit of an invincibility complex)

Using a heated mix of Dragon Blood (the herb) and Chinese Hibiscus, she can steal bodies until she inhales them again, which is when she changes back

She works in a garage and loves playing with cars, especially painting them

She’s a foster child that knows how to make her own family, and makes friends very easily

What superpower would your OC have, and why?

Kali would probably want to be super strong without stealing a vampires body. Stuck in a world where everyone can pick her up and throw her over a house, she’s just a touch jealous.

Any villains in your story?

For the first Arc it was Edward and Alice, but both of their motivations were brought on by the breaking of their mate bonds. Alice got the worse end of the stick because of how long she’d been with Jasper, Edward managed to snap himself out of it somewhat though. I wouldn’t really call them villains though.

Is description or dialogue easier to write?

I spend more time of descriptions, but dialogue is definitely easier with Kali.

Brandon Sanderson screaming “WRITE IT BADLY”

What story would be associated with your WIP?

Besides the obvious? A series of unfortunate events :P

Where do you get inspiration from?

Mostly from everything around me but also from the things I don’t see that I want to, I started writing a scary mermaid adventure story a while back because I couldn’t find one to read! My favourite thing about writers is when they bring something new to the world, and I’m always dying to read books that breathe new life into old genres.
