《暴風雨》的故事取材自古希臘時期牧歌戀情中的柯羅葉和達菲尼斯，運用了相當直接的構圖，描繪一對年輕而純真的情侶在雨中奔跑的瞬間。作品的標題似乎象徵著「愛情總如暴風雨一般讓人措手不及」，也暗喻著年輕的愛戀總是面有著許多的挑戰與苦澀。場景裡的微微陽光、寫實的衣物質感、人物表情與肢體語言，甚至微翹的腳趾，再再鋪陳了一種自然甜美的氛圍。男孩柯羅葉略帶微笑的看著焦急皺眉的女孩達菲尼斯，兩人的表情生動地呈現了初戀中情侶「總有人不考慮得失，也總有人患得患失」的心情與處境。本作曾完成大、中、小三種版本。除了藏於紐約大都會博物館的本作；小畫目前是由台南奇美博物館珍藏。
