This, ladies and gents, is Jeff Maynard (in the yellow). He was the official photographer for some of the earliest Star Trek conventions, back in the 1970's. After passing away, he left his collection of photographs and negatives to Angelique Trouvere, who ended up finding our auction company, and having us list the photographs in an auction that ends tomorrow, January 1st, at 8:00 PM (CST).

There are 8 lots in this consignment (in an auction with about 300 lots total including vintage comic books, and vintage b-movie posters). Of those 8 lots, 7 consist of the photographs and negatives. There are pictures of the crowds, the costumes, and the public aspects, as well as behind the scenes green room looks at the cast of the original Star Trek. Tons of Science Fiction celebrities & important names - Isaac Asimov, Harlan Ellison, William Shatner, Deforest Kelley, Leonard Nimoy, Walter Koenig, James Doohan, Geoge Takei, Nichelle Nichols, and of course, Gene Roddenberry!

Included in the lot are photographs of David Gerrod, Al Schuster (CON Chairman) Fred Phillips (Star Trek Makeup Artist) transforming a committee member named Al into a Klingon, Mariette Hartley, Joan Winston, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, Deforest Kelley, Isaac Asimov, Hal Clement, Joan Winston, DC Fontana, Allan Asherman, Elyse Rosenstein, Richard Hoagland, Lenard Nimoyand many fans in costume including our consignor Angelique Trouvere who received these photograhs from Jeff Maynard before his death. Everyone seemed to like the other Star Trek original convention photos, so I decided to post up a few more.

This collection, which includes hundreds of vintage, original photographs and negatives, is focused on the earliest Star Trek conventions, back in the 1970's. There were a couple of earlier conventions in the late 1960's, but those were smaller affairs held in public libraries - these photos show the first large scale gatherings where the cast of the original Star Trek (as well as costume designer Bill Theiss, and other luminaries of Science Fiction including Isaac Asimov, Gene Roddenberry, and more) attended. These conventions more closely resemble modern conventions - including cosplay & costume contests/masquerades.

The original staff photographer, Jeff Maynard, took these photographs back in the 1970's, and we are auctioning off the collection.

Lot 124: Collection of Original Vintage Star Trek Photos by Jeff Maynard

Jeff Maynard was a staff member and official photographer for some of the earliest Star Trek conventions ever held, back in the 1970's. His collection of original photographs is up for auction, in a sale ending on January 1st. Our January 1st Marquee Comic, Movie Poster, & Pop Culture Auction features a very unique collection of vintage photographs from some of the earliest Star Trek conventions ever held. The original photographs & photographic negatives are being sold, which would give reproduction rights to whoever wins the pictures!

Above, you can see Leonard Nimoy double-fisting the Vulcan Salute to the crowd during the International Star Trek Convention (ISTC) in 1975.
