Fire Country 1.12 “Two Pink Lines“
he laughed along with him, shaking his head. "nah, you're good, man. you just sound like an uncle who's serious about the title. i respect the hustle." he smiled a friendly smile, since they were on a first-name basis now. "i'm minjun, by the way."
he listened to the rundown of the competition, his expression purely amused. "okay, a horse trainer and a fashion designer? those are some tough opponents. one has ponies, the other has cool clothes... and you're fighting back with carnival rides. i like your strategy. fun will always win, i think you're onto something here." he . "so, you mentioned a twin. is he one of the rivals i should be picturing you in a turf war with?"
"good good, thank you minjun, is a pleasure meeting you. i'm glad someone understand the hustle." he smiled back playfully putting his hands in his pockets with satisfaction.
he nodded with a -see what I have to deal with- expression before shrugging and smiling again. the one thing he was exceptionally good at was having fun with his niece. "Right? It's her first time coming so hopefully she's not too overwhelmed..." He let out even though he was prepared with a plan B just in case. "Oh, no. Worst, he's the dad, you can add him to this war with 25% advantage over the rest of us. But only 25, I'm pretty sure she likes me better than him must of the times."
he made a show out of pulling his wallet out of his back pocket while samu got ready to take his shot. he unfolded the leather and licked two fingers before beginning to pull out and count a few bills. normally, he paid by card, but fairs often were cash only, so he'd hit the bank before stopping here. "born ready." he replaced the cash into his wallet and slid the wallet into his back pocket. "if i win it, i'll give it to her. i'm a charitable man."
"oh please. are you suggesting I can't beat you?" he let out with a lifted eyebrow playfully before taking a couple of steps back and trowing the ball that went through the tire without problem. "You need to ask for something if you win dude, give me another reason to want to beat you." he let out before throwing one more time, but this time that second ball hit the tire bouncing back to them. "well shit, see you are distracting me."
"You'd be surprised," Beck laughed. "Some people love a big guy. He got a sense of humor, at least." Beck had seen a few of his movies, but they couldn't claim to have really followed him or his career. Beck chuckled at his big brother's reaction. "Sometimes a tiny lesbian wants to be tossed around by a Miss Trunchbull type, I dunno what to tell you, and then you wanna be comforted and taken care of by Miss Honey," he shrugged, but allowed the subject to be changed.
"Sweet as pie or whatever it is they say," Beck scoffed. Emotional vulnerability wasn't always his thing. He had been raised around tough guys, and while the real kindsa toxic masculinity pissed him off, he still naturally held onto a hint of it. He tended to be guarded with his emotions at the best of times. In the aftermath of Ethan's death, he'd been inconsolable, but the sadness had been largely covered by his anger. "I'll make you train by carrying me up and down five flights of stairs on your back. What kinda tattoo would you want? I'd go with ya. I'm running outta room at this rate."
"He does have a cute little smile, but I like being the big guy in equation..." He shrugged not really sure why they where talking about that. "Miss Trunchbull!?" He couldn't contain his laughter looking at his brother with surprise before hiding his face in his hands trying to control it. "I'm sorry dude, but with all the beautiful big jacked girls out there you chose the creepy old teacher from Matilda as your example..."
"Let's leave that for the academy drills thank you... I don't know. You know me I don't put too much thought into it. I just know that it's time for a new one." being a no plan, go with the flow kind of guy was maybe the one thing that had got him in trouble the must while he grew up, and probably still even now. It was the one thing their parents couldn't understand about him and probably the one thing that had pushed them apart.

OPEN STARTER LOCATION: the austin big fair In theory, taking your daughter to the county fair should be easy. Sawyer had always said no, turning down the puppy dog eyes every year and saying she was too little. But then one of her best friends had mentioned they were going and it "it wasn't fair", so here he was. Surrounded by loud rides and sugared up kids and wishing he'd taken up one of his siblings on taking her instead. Because he's almost certain they wouldn't have lost Juniper ten minutes into walking into the fairgrounds, three seconds of looking away from the young girl before she'd taken off somewhere. "'Scuse me, you ain't seen a little girl around here have you?" He asking the first person he can find, searching the last place he'd seen his daughter before she'd taken off. "About yay high, brown hair with a pink bow?"
He had been walking around the fair, trying to digest the food he had stuffed his face with the moment he got there when the guy stopped him. He couldn't hold his expression, his eyebrows went up the moment he heard his question. "I haven't being paying much attention, sorry. But, let me help you find her... How old is she? What is she waring?"
celine: open starter
it was the annual fair that came around every year, at least for the last couple of years, and celine couldn't pass up going. mainly because she remembered how wonderful the fairs had been growing up in south carolina. while back then she had been the one trying to go on as many rides as possible, now it was all about the food. She had just gone to one of the different trucks and ordered, taking a few bites before sighing. "the mexican street corn is a 10/10, if you're looking for something best thing I've had so far." As she had had a few different things thus far, she'd consider this her dinner because life was short, eat the faire food.
Jowie had spent the whole day at home preparing his classes for the next few days. Just stopping a few times to get himself a cup of coffee and maybe a few crackers. He decided it was time to stop when he looked at the clock and notice he only had a few more hours to enjoy the fair. So he had gone spright to the food trucks and haven't moved form there. "It does look good, maybe after I'll try that next." he enjoying his turkey leg and making a mental note to find the street corn next.
a bright laugh escaped him at the guy's dramatic relief, his smile growing bigger. "just saving lives, one dropped piece of paper at a time." he joked, his tone light and friendly. "but hey, the 'favorite uncle' title is a pretty serious competition, i get it. happy i could help you stay in the running. now you just gotta win."
he gave a playful nod, genuinely amused by the whole situation. "that's a really cool thing to do for your niece, man." he glanced at the tickets. "so, got any serious opponents going for the title?"
"is how you change the world." he joked back with a growing smile full of relief and gratefulness "oh it is, believe me. i have been doing everything I can think of with the little time I have with her..." a questioning look covered his face for a moment as he looked away and back to him. "did that just made me sound like I divorce dad?" he ask shaking his head, someone else would probably be embarrassed but samu was taking notes to joke about it with his brother later. "wait until i tell my twin brother i have been acting like his ex." a short laugh came out of his mouth while he rolled his eyes at him self. "Thanks again. I'm Samuel by the way, you should know my name before I tell you my life story..."
"Well there's a horse trainer and a fashion designer... Junie is five, you tell me..." He let out, he knew the little girl liked him but he also wished he could spent more time with her like his siblings did. "They're keeping me on my toes man." he joked.
austin held his arms out wide in a where else would i be? kind of gesture, a playful grin making his mouth upturn on one side. he reached for the drink he'd abandoned as he watched samu get ready. "well, what do you want if you win?" he paused, letting the sentence linger for a second as he took a drink and then tipped his chin towards the stuffed animals hanging on the wall behind the booth. "i think the flamingo or giraffe is the play."
"Oh definitely the giraffe... I'm on a mission. Need to make it to my niece's best uncle position over my brother AND sister..." he let out gripping the ball with both hands getting ready to trow. "I'm also going to ask for beer and fries, so get your wallet ready." he said with a grin. "you ready?"
"Shockingly, The Rock was never my type," Beck said with a completely deadpan tone. They didn't like men, and The Rock was about as manly of a man as it got. Six foot five and built like a dang freight train. "Put that build on a hot, crossfit lesbian and get her to throw me around a little, and I'm listening," Beck teased. Probably (definitely) TMI for his brother, but he was never very good at keeping his jokes to himself.
"You wanna get a tattoo, big guy?" Beck offered, his small cup of water already empty. He reached over to refill it, the machine pleasantly cold to the touch. His water bottles tended to go room temp or warmer pretty fast when he was working so much outdoors. You couldn't beat one that was icy fresh. "You could get one too, y'know. I bet my artist wouldn't mind repeating the design for family. We could all do it." Beck waved a hand at the softness of Sam's words. lip curving into a vague, half-smile. "Shoot, don't make me emotional now. We still gotta get your cardio in. Now that's something I've gotta be better than you at, right? You're carrying what, a hundred extra pounds of muscle on that big ol' frame?" He paused for a moment. "Shit, I'm proud of you too, whatever that means. Fuckin' firefighter superhero bastard."
"I don't think the rock is anybody's type" he joked, he did find him kinda of attractive but it had nothing to do with how big he was. "Ookay... let's move on." he let out with a laugh, not wanting to go into that with his brother. He stretch his legs and shrugged at her question, not really ready for it yet. "I don't know, maybe... at some point." he said not really sure about it yet. "I'll keep it in mind tho... I mean, if you can get me an appointment for something else I wouldn't mind getting a new tattoo." he smiled at their gesture before faking disappointment, he did enjoyed his cardio. "You know what, yes you probably are and I do have a few extra pounds of muscle but I also train to carry another extra hundred pounds so... i don't know we'll have to see. " he let out before snorting and getting up from the bench. "Your sweetness is overflowing little bro."

ella rolled her eyes dramatically at his comment about his closet, swatting his hand playfully. "obviously i've seen your closet, that's not the point. i don't need you to be a fashion expert, that's me, remember?"
she sighed, her face dropping for a moment. "i'm on a really tight deadline, samu, and i'm having a major creative crisis. you're the only one who can help." she looked at him seriously, it was a very serious situation after all. her reputation depended on it. "you've been giving me feedback since i was drawing stick figures in triangle dresses. you have the best gut instinct of anyone i know, so your opinion is the only one i actually trust. you might not be a fashionista, but you have the intuition of one."
she pushed the two fabrics towards him again. "okay, so stop thinking about your t-shirts and just feel them. don't think 'expensive,' think... which one feels more like a movie star? like a rich, mysterious widow at a gala." she let out dramatically but fully serious, urging him to imagine her words. "so, the blue satin or the black velvet? which one?"
"right, right, sorry..." he sat more comfortably in bed, looking at everything, his eyes stoping on the design and stoping to appreciated for a moment . "oh shit ella..." he looked at her again with a grin, he had been too asleep to pay attention a moment before, and he knew she was good. He had always helped her out when she need and opinion but would always get amazed by how much and how fast her talent had grew.
"okay, fine... Just give me that. How can you be here complimenting my gut instincts when you made that?" he snorted a laugh taking both of the fabrics in each of his hands before closing his eyes. "okay, movie star, movie star... I'm still liking the blue one." he opened one eyes with a questioning look after thinking about it for a while, hoping that was the right answer. "I don't know, is softer in a way, lighter and light would reflect better on it no?"
"Not everyone is five foot eleven and built like Dwayne The Rock Johnson," Beck said with a laugh. They weren't very good at taking it easy or resting anyways, but sometimes their body still reminded them to slow down. They weren't supposed to do any heavy lifting for three months after their surgery, but they might've compressed that timeline, just a little. It was argiculture. You didn't exactly get paid vacation leave. The work had to get done.
Beck's body was small in stature next to his older brothers. They had always been on the tall and burly side, a bunch of cornfed looking farm boys, and Beck was a skinny little kid who never had the growth spurt he'd so desperately prayed for, but he was happy in his skin these days, finally at home in his body. It was muscular, toned, with defined biceps and back muscles, a good set of abs for someone who ate too many corn dogs and cold cans of spaghetti, and now, most importantly, a completely flat chest.
"Few days ago. And I'm showing you now, ain't I? I can't expect you to give up being all heroic and pulling all those cats outta trees to come hold my hand," he laughed. "The artist I like had a cancellation, so I took it. I didn't wanna get a name and birthday or something lame. I got other nature stuff and flowers mixed in with my sleeves and stuff. Nobody but our family has to know what this one's about."
"the rock would love to look this good." he let out puffing his chest out for not even a second before laughing and letting him self drop in the bench next to them swapping the sweat from his forehead with his towel. samu had always been into exercising but had never had the time to actually build muscle the way he started doing once he got back home. at first it was a way to spend more quality time with his brothers, then it became a hobby and when their brother passed it became a way to deal with his grief, his way of mourning.
"well i'm expecting you to... i'm exceptional at holding hands, thank you very much." he joked faking being hurt before laughing with them. "no but for real, it looks good on you, it was good decision." he drank some water from his bottle taking a moment before speaking again. "i thought about it you know... doing something for him. but i don't think i'm ready yet..." he let out, elbows against his thighs looking away from them for a moment. grief was an interesting thing and even though it had been over a year now it would still hit him hard some times. "i'm really proud of you beck." he let out looking back at them with a smile.

while the kids and younger crowd seemed to gravitate toward the rides and games, alfie found himself looking forward to the food stalls more than anything else. he strolled with other, who was keeping pace beside him as the crowd thinned near another row of stalls. a sign advertising some new fried candy bar caught his attention and he let out a low chuckle. "would you look at that," he mused, an amused smile tugging at his lips, "they're still investing new things to fry, huh? i kinda miss when deep fried oreos were the craze. i could’ve lived on those for a week if they’d let me."
"fried oreos are the bomb, but man whatever that is, smells insane..." he let out following behind the other gravitating towards the food as if it was calling for him, perfect example of why people kept coming up with new ideas and recipes no matter how crazy they sounded. "we need to try it." here's there reason why he visit the gym at least and hour daily, jowie was a foodie, he loved to try new things and exotic foods so he wouldn't miss out on the fair and the opportunity to try new stuff.
Just a reminder Ismael Cruz Cordova FINE AS FUCK!
Starter For: @mossnfire (Samuel) Location: Impact Zone
"Alright, big fella, give it a rest," Beck laughed, his legs almost unable to hold his little body up for any longer as he leaned against the side of wall and eventually slid into a bench to pour himself some water. Beck wasn't that big on working out, mostly because he typically was outside exercising all the time anyways, just in the riding arena or on the ranch. "Hey, check this out," Beck said with a sideways grin. He pulled his shirt off, fully, revealing a bare chest that for so many years he hadn't been able to share with anyone. Beck was fit and athletic, but slender. His own body was tiny, even smaller than he usually looked against Samuel's massive frame. Fresh ink lay on his pec, a carnation tattoo above top surgery scars that were now almost fully healed. "It's a carnation. Isn't it cool? It's Ethan's birth flower. D'you like it?"
"Oh now you're backing up on me?" He teased but followed them to the bench taking a towel and his water bottle not angry at all about taking a break. "Oh shit! When did you get that? why didn't you let me come with?" he questioned as he got closer to inspect the work. he may not be into tattoos as much as his brothers but he could appreciate the art specially with the meaning behind it. "it is really cool, it looks perfect... I think he would have liked it."

"oh-hey! excuse me!" he called out, jogging a few steps to catch up to them. once close enough, he gave the other person a light tap on their shoulder, before holding out the object he'd seen fall from their pocket just a moment before. “hey, uh, i think you dropped this?” his voice was casual, an easy, friendly smile already playing on his lips as he waited for them to take the object.
"oh shit... yes, thank you." he took the folded paper from the young man like the receipt was the most important thing in the world, and at that moment it kinda was. “You just saved my life…” he said unfolding the paper to show a bunch of tickets for games and rides. “I promised my niece to take her to every single game at least twice…I’m fighting for the favorite uncle title.”
