Reverie

You can move forward, build a life you love, laugh about things that once hurt, and genuinely feel like you’re okay. And then out of nowhere, something reminds you of the person you were back then. You cry.

And maybe you don’t cry because you want that life back. Maybe you just remember how much that version of you had to carry, and for a moment you feel nothing but tenderness for her.

That’s okay, right? I think that’s okay.

I believe we don’t have to be completely untouched by our past to know that we’ve healed. Some chapters can still make us emotional without making us want to return to them.

Because I really don’t.

I don’t want to go back. I just have a soft spot for the girl who had to make it through all of that.

I'm trying to be better. Not perfect, just better. Taking care of myself, protecting my peace, and choosing myself a little more each day.
