He smirked and nodded. “No problem.” He liked being able to help her like this and hopefully she could find a place she liked since here was closed. Nick waved her off and shook his head. “Please. You can’t intrude a thing. Retirement means I’m mainly free so don’t worry about a thing.” He assured her before nodding. “Then let’s get going. You wanna stick around this neighborhood or looking for something else?”

“Ah, retirement,” Morgan thought about the day she could retire blissfully, “I look forward to hearing about all the free time you have,” she teased with a growing smile. “I’m up for whatever, surprise me really. I have yet to explore most things in Fallbrook,” though that typically was because Evan didn’t seem to venture out too often. She wondered if he liked it here, or if he was just putting on a front because of her want to bring Stevie into her life. 

“God, you’re so right,” Liv said with a nod, a laugh escaping her lips. “I can’t find anything, ever. It doesn’t help that I have three kids either.” Even though she cleaned her house regularly, with three boys running around it never stayed clean. “I hate it when you strategically put something somewhere so that it will be easy to find and then you forget about it.” It was always so unfortunate. “I’m Liv, by the way. Are you new in town? I don’t think I’ve seen you around before.” 

“You are truly a saint with three kids and keeping your bearings,” she laughed softly with the compliment. “I’m already scattered brained enough some days.” Truly, it was when she was in the air, flying private planes for people that she felt the most grounded when the ground was thousands of feet beneath her. “The strategy ultimately fails you and I think that’s the most disappointing thing,” she admitted with a shake of her head. “I am new in town,” she nodded her head to the woman’s question. “which if you’ve noticed you haven’t seen me before,” she paused, a teasing smile on her lips, “you’ve definitely lived here most of, if not your entire life, huh?”

She smiled and nodded. “Awesome. I moved here in September so not much longer than you. And I’ve lived around and in Seattle, New York City, and Boulder so I understand. It took me a little bit to get the hang of places and still get a little lost.” Ashlyn explained to her and hoped she helped make her feel like she shouldn’t know the place right away. “Right? So far, they’re all pretty great. The Halloween one especially.”

“Oh wow, you’ve lived quite a few places.” Though Morgan had done some moving around herself, it didn’t seem quite as extensive as the other. “Any of those places rank in your top places to live?” She questioned out of curiosity. “It’s such a cute place, though,” Morgan couldn’t help but admit, “I really like it but I’m not sure my boyfriend is sold on it,” she twisted her lips in thought, “we are talking about staying, so fingers crossed it grows on him like it has me.” Morgan paused at the woman’s words, “A whole Halloween event, too? Wow, I really hope he does want to stay,” she laughed, “I do love the fun of Halloween though I’m not much into being scared.” 

Evan smirked at her light tap as he always loved the playfulness between them. “Don’t pretend like you don’t love my sass.” He teased her back with another chuckle. For majority of his life being playful was not an option. There were a lot of hardships and difficulties that he had gone through so it was nice to finally be able to have fun. “Do you want to stay?” He questioned, tensing up as he asked the question. As much as he wanted to support Morgan he knew he couldn’t stay in Fallbrook. At least he couldn’t stay in Fallbrook as Evan Moss. 

“You’re right, it’s my favorite thing that I love about you,” Morgan grinned up at him, her blue eyes sparkling in his direction. She did love Evan, more than she had loved anyone else before. And it was true love - one that they had worked at for themselves and for each other. “Stay?” She chewed on the corner of her lip, shrugging her shoulder. “It is really nice here,” she admitted to Evan. Morgan twisted her lips to the side, “if you want to stay,” she paused a moment, “I think it’s something worth talking about but we don’t have to make any serious decision tonight.”

It was definitely something that was the case with how you were with places you lived at for a long period of time. Atlanta would never be anything special for him, despite being the place where his family was. Maybe if they were closer and there wasn’t a sense of betrayal there, he’d feel differently. However, being in Fallbrook, he hadn’t gotten to that feeling just yet. Maybe he had to be there a bit longer. “Oh, it is.” He said about his business. The law firm was doing amazing and he thought it always would. “And no, I’m not. I like to keep myself available for anything.” He smirked at her before taking a drink and listening to her talk about her work.” Oh, I can imagine.” Jeremy said before sitting up a little and taking her business card. “Perfect. It’ll be a great perk knowing a private pilot.” He reached into his pocket to get his wallet out and put her card in while pulling out his own. “Here’s mine. You can use it for anything  you need.”

“Why am I not surprised by that,” she laughed softly as he smirked at her with his words. “I think it’s a great perk, at least once I get hired for jobs.” She teased him once more. Morgan was in no rush to be back in the air but there was a part of her that did already miss it. She was gone a lot in Los Angeles when she and Evan lived there. It was nice that the two of them were getting to spend more time together now that she was working a more stable job. “Thank you,” she smiled at him, taking his card from him and slipping it into her purse. “I do hope that I never need a lawyer, but it never hurts to know one.” Looking down at her phone that lit up, she smiled back at Jeremy, “Seems my boyfriend is on his way home from work,” she noted, “I’ll see you around, lawyer.”

He still didn’t see anyone approaching and he looked back at the blonde. She had a familiar look to her, but he couldn’t place it. “There is. There’s the Garden down the street and Golden Cove. They’re more restaurants, though, but I’m sure they’re doing drinks now.” He explained to her. “But if you’re looking for a bar, there’s the Pit Stop and Barnyard. Lord knows we have a lot of options when it comes to getting a drink in town.” Nick told her. “Well, I can show you some things, if you’d like. “I’ve been here my whole life so I know a thing or two.”

As the man next to her began to list off a few places, Morgan made mental notes. “That is all very helpful,” she smiled at him, knowing that in her time in Fallbrook she would have to make an attempt to go to all the places he mentioned and more. “Really? You don’t mind. I don’t want to intrude on your day or anything.” She told him, not wanting to be a bother. “But it would be nice to actually get a tour of town from a seasoned local as yourself.”

Stevie deserved a break. Even though Melisa knew her friend enough to know that to make Stevie take a break you had to tie her down to the bed. Which is essentially what Melisa did when she showed up and took Ali out even with Stevie protesting. She had enough with the twins that day, she’d take her niece out for the afternoon to give Stevie a little break. Once upon a time she might have imagined herself with children, but right now that was a little hard for Melisa to ever think of. So, for the time being, it was all she could do to be an aunt to her friend’s children. After doing a loop around the local park, Melisa decided to stop by the local boutique on Main street. She stood flipping through a rack of clothes before she held one up to show the smily and babbling baby. “What do you think Ali?” She asked, holding it up against her chest and looking down at the cut. “I think I’ll try it.” She was turning back to the rack when another woman approached Ali and spoke to her. “It’s okay.” Melisa smiled graciously at the stranger. The sight of a stranger soothed her actually. She still felt like people talked behind her back. “Ali here is friendly and she wouldn’t mind talking to you.” She reached down and gently stroked the little girl’s tuff of soft hair. 

“She is very friendly,” she smiled down at Ali, “I recognized her,” she began to explain, realizing that talking to random babies was probably frowned upon in Fallbrook as it might be anywhere else. “I met Stevie,” she noted, “a few weeks back and nearly ran into her and Ali at the flower shop.” Morgan went on with a smile, “It’s no surprise that I recognized her sweet face out and about again.” She looked back up at the woman pushing the stroller, “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, we haven’t been introduced yet, I’m Morgan,” she introduced herself to the other. “Are you, are you Stevie’s partner?” She gestured to Ali, wondering if Stevie was in a relationship. She still had so much to learn about her half sister, though she had not told her that they were related yet.

“Your boyfriend?” Damien didn’t know why he hung onto that through everything she said. He had been connecting the dots in his mind because Lucas, well, Evan Moss had been in town for the last month. “Who is your boyfriend? I wonder if I’ve met him yet.” He muttered, raising his hand up to the side of his head as he tapped his index finger against the side of it. “My memory hasn’t exactly been the best since my accident last August.” He told her, turning his head to look at her. “He will be. You’re going to have to fight him on everything. We call him stubborn old man.” He chuckled, standing up straight. “Of course. Feel free to call the office if something goes haywire.”

“You might have,” she wrinkled her nose, “he doesn’t get out much outside work,” she told him, “but his name is Evan Moss,” she smiled at the thought of him, “we met when I moved to Los Angeles and well,” she shrugged her shoulders, “one thing led to another and it’s been happy in love ever since.” Though it had taken a lot of trust work for the both of them, but they worked through it together. “Oh, no,” Morgan’s smile fell from her face, “I’m so sorry,” she couldn’t imagine what it would be like to struggle with her memory, not being able to recall events in her life. Even if she had often wished she would forget what happened to her before she met Evan. “That feels on par,” she let out another laugh, “a stubborn old man is the perfect description.” She nodded her head, “I appreciate that. Can I offer you lunch? Coffee? My shift is about up here and I could go for just about anything.”

“Oh, for sure! Even without discounts, I think I’d still be like you and spend too much money on smoothies and coffees.” Sera stated with another small grin. “I’m Sera, by the way. I haven’t seen you around before.” She introduced herself. When the blonde said she wanted the sample, Sera clapped at her hands together and smiled at her. “Excellent!” She said in a happy tone, picking up the small plastic cup and holding it out for her to grab. “It’s one my favorites honestly! Mango, pineapple, banana, and vanilla Greek yogurt yumminess.”

Morgan laughed, “You know, at least I am not the only one.” Not that the blonde suspected that she would be, “Nice to meet you Sera,” she smiled back at her, “that’s probably because I haven’t been around all that long. Just moved here a month or so ago with my boyfriend,” she told the other, “I’m Morgan,” she quickly added, almost forgetting to introduce herself in return to the young woman. “Oh wow, that sounds very delicious,” she took the small plastic cup and lifted it to her nose for a passing moment before sipping it back. “Wow,” Morgan hummed, rubbing the back of her hand against her lip to gather any excess, “that is actually really amazing and do you think I could drink ten?” She laughed with her own exaggeration.

“Damn. Definitely long.” The woman said and laughed softly, but settled into the line for the food stall. “It is really good food. I’ve had them a few times since I moved here and I definitely like them.” She said and smiled. “So, is it safe to assume that you’re newer in town? Or just haven’t had their food at all.” She laughed softly. “Or you’re just here for the festival. I’m sure there’s people traveling through who saw and stopped by  and you could be one for all I know.”

Morgan was looking forward to trying the food at the food truck, especially after the woman’s comment. “Just moved here with my boyfriend in February,” she explained to the other woman, “it’s a lot smaller than Los Angeles, but I still haven’t made it around to trying everything just yet.” She laughed softly, nodding her head. “I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if people traveled for this festival, it is really something.” Morgan couldn’t help but be impressed by it, “LA didn’t have much like this, or at least if we did, it was so busy and packed that I wasn’t interested in going.”

Sera laughed at the woman’s comment and nodded to agree with her words. “Yes, I definitely feel that. I’m grateful I work here so at least I get a discount.” She stated. Her boss didn’t make the prices insane like Starbucks, but even a dollar or two adds up every day. “I am the same way. Weather kinda makes your drink choice sometimes.” Sera said and glanced over at the menu once more. “Hmm, well I do have some samples of our Mango Madness smoothie here if you wanna try that and see?” She offered her, motioning towards the small plastic cups the smoothie was in.

“Discounts are always a plus,” Morgan had quickly grown to appreciate that about working at the local book store cafe. She didn’t read often but books were nice to have when she was out on work vacations. As a pilot, it was work to fly her clients there and back but until they were ready to go back into the air again. “Weather does influence it,” she laughed softly, nodding her head in agreement. “Mango Madness,” Morgan hummed the name, her tongue flicking against her lips. “that sounds absolutely delicious, so yes, I’d love a sample.”

Liv always took her kids to the festival, so her two older kids were running off to play games while she held her almost two-year-old on her hip. Seeing the joy on her boys’ faces was a wonderful thing for her to see and it was special to see them having fun at an event she had so much fun at as a child. As her toddler started to have a small meltdown, she reached into the diaper bag and grabbed his drink for him and in the process her phone fell and she didn’t notice. “Oh, thank you so much!” Liv said, an appreciative smile on her facial features as she set her son down momenatrily to pick up the phone. “I really need to find a better spot for it because this isn’t the first time this has happened.

Morgan smiled as she reached the woman with her phone. “Not a problem at all,” she figured anyone would have done the same for her in Fallbrook. She hadn’t been in town long, about two months but she had already picked up on how people were and how different they were from living in California. “You know, I think sometimes we just don’t learn as people, do we?” Morgan let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. “Like the amount of times I put my keys in my purse as if I think I will be able to find them without taking everything out of the bag.”

Ashlyn had been working at the Rage Cage game all afternoon and was finally done for the day. She loved working it though and showing her strength and while she wasn’t as up to par as she was when she was a firefighter back in Colorado, she still seemed to have a decent amount of strength. She was happy to be feeling good and back to her normal self in time for the event and was excited to see what else there was. Since she was finished, she was starving and so, she was making her way to the food stalls. She finally decided what she wanted, but was unsure where the line started. She went up to someone and tapped their shoulder and smiled at them. “Hey, are you in line for the Cantina? Is this the line?”

Morgan had been without Evan for the better half of the weekend. He said he wasn’t feeling well but didn’t want the blonde to miss out on any of the fun. While Morgan would have happily stayed behind, she had been itching to get out and enjoy Fallbrook during its cherry blossom festival. Morgan moved around, finding herself in line for one of the food trucks. She had heard great things about Cantina Mariposa and had been dying to try it. Standing in line, a voice behind her caused her to turn. “Yeah, it is,” she nodded her head with a smile, “long, huh? Which only has me more excited to try the food.” Morgan admitted to the stranger.

Sera kept her customer service smile across her face when the woman greeted her. She felt the nice tone the other woman had was actually sincere and kept the smile as she explained her situation. “Hello, of course! Stevie makes the best drink recipes!” Sera’s eyes trailed over to the menu chalkboard that was set up for the booth. “Alright, well are you a coffee, tea, or smoothie kind of gal?”

“She really does, I have yet to find one that I don’t like, which will be a problem for my bank account in the future. Or now,” she admitted with a shake of her head as she laughed. Certainly she would have to start working extra hours at Moore’s Cafe Book Store to make up for the difference she was spending in coffee. Even living in Los Angeles, she didn’t spend this much on coffee. “I like all of it, but with the weather today, leaning ice coffee or smoothie,” she said with a smile. “The warm weather warrants a drink to compliment it.”

Since she worked at the cafe, Sera volunteered her time for a shift to work the vendor booth Stevie had set up during the festival. There were a variety of drink options like coffee, teas, and smoothies as well as some simple sandwich options. Sera gladly helped Stevie with setting it up and any ways she could. She told Stevie to go enjoy some time with her kids while Sera would watch the booth. “Alrighty, how can I help you today?” She asked the person who approached. “We have plenty of everything!” Sera added with a smile.

Morgan, since her arrival, had been to Fallbrook’s Hilltop Cafe more times than she could count. After all, her half sister worked there and she had been hoping to get more run ins with the blonde. She knew she had to tell her, Evan telling her that there would be no right time to do so. Moving up in line, she reached the booth to find someone else behind the counter and not the woman she had been hoping for. “Hi,” she smiled at the woman, “I’d love whatever you recommend,” she let out a soft laugh, “honestly, I’ve been here a dozen times since I moved to down and I’m determined to try just about everything,” she glanced down at the menu, “I’ve tried these first six options already.”

Evan had taken off, leaving Morgan to attend the festival to her own regard. She was meeting up with her boyfriend later, but for the moment, she was free to do her own thing. Morgan didn’t even know where to start. The festival seemed to span a rather large area of Fallbrook, or seemingly so. Food trucks, vendors and floats were all around. The blonde felt a bit overwhelmed, even more so than she ever did living in Los Angeles the last few years with Evan. Morgan moved around, looking for something to catch her attention when something hit the ground by her. Morgan quickly reached for it, realizing it was a cell phone. “Excuse me,” she called out, hoping the woman that walked by would hear her. in case she didn’t, she began walking toward her with a quickened pace, “excuse me, I think you dropped your phone.”
