The first time, you didn't think much of it. You reached across the bed with your eyes still closed, expecting warm skin and the familiar weight of Morgan curled half on top of you. Instead, your hand landed on cold sheets.

You frowned, blinking awake. His side of the bed was empty. Your phone lit up on the nightstand.

Stayed at the BOV house. Filming ran way later than we thought. Didn't wanna wake you. Love you, be home asap in the morning ❤️

It was 3:47 a.m. You smiled despite yourself. It wasn't unusual. Whenever the boys decided to film, Morgan would end up staying over if it ran over. It was often late night filming.

Love you too. Eat something good besides energy drinks today.

Three dots appeared almost immediately.

You rolled your eyes before rolling over and going back to sleep.

The second time happened after nearly three weeks of nonstop filming. You barely remembered him leaving. You vaguely recalled him kissing your forehead early in the morning. 

"Recording today," he'd whispered. “Hopefully I'll be home tonight.”

You'd hummed something unintelligible and buried your face back into the pillow. When you woke up, the house felt strangely still. No shouting from the streaming room. No keyboard clicking. No loud music.

Just silence.

You wandered through the house anyway, almost expecting him to magically appear. Nothing.

His mug was still in the sink from yesterday. His hoodie was draped over the dining chair. His shoes were gone.

You made breakfast for one. It felt silly how different toast tasted when no one stole bites off your plate. Around noon he FaceTimed you from the BOV kitchen.

"You look sleepy." He smiled as your face appeared on the screen. “How are you, love?”

"Tired. You look like you haven't slept yourself."

"I haven't."

"I can tell." You laughed, “How’s filming going?”

“It’s going good,” He looked around, then back at you. "I'll be home tonight."

"You don't have to rush." You said, “Just come home whenever, I miss you.”

"I miss you more, hopefully I won’t be too late."

Your chest warmed. "Okay."

Hours passed and the same thing happened again. It was 2am, you were laying in bed waiting for Morgan to get home. Your phone lit up once again.

Sorry babe, filmings overran again. Still got an hour or so to go. I’ll stay here and be home asap in the morning ❤️

The third time bothered you. Not because he wasn't home. Because you'd forgotten he wouldn't be. 

You woke up instinctively reaching toward him again. Empty. For one confused second your stomach dropped.

Then you remembered.

Twenty-four-hour stream.

Morgan had planned it for weeks. You knew he was sleeping at the Bov house during it. You’d spent the day with him on stream, he even offered for you to sleep over but you didn’t want to. You liked your home comforts. 

The bed felt too big. 

When you woke up, you spent the morning cleaning. Then doing laundry. Then reorganizing a cabinet that absolutely didn't need reorganizing.

Then he finally called. 

“Still alive?” You laughed as you answered the phone. 

"Barely."

"You sound awful."

"I feel awful." He yawned, “Good stream though, did you manage to catch it?” 

"A little bit this morning, but I’ve been organising the house.” You said, folding laundry with your phone on speaker. “Took Spike for a walk, now just making some dinner.”

“I’ll be home soon, just gonna take a nap then I’ll be home.”

You knew he wouldn’t be, but you tried to believe it anyway.

The one time you woke up together again, nothing special happened. No alarms. No texts. No late night streams or filming. 

Just sunlight filtering through the curtains. Morgan was still asleep beside you, one arm thrown lazily across your waist like he'd found you sometime during the night and refused to let go.

His hair stuck up in every direction. He was breathing slowly, completely relaxed. You stayed still.

After so many mornings waking up alone, the weight of him beside you felt almost unfamiliar. Comfortable. Quiet. Like you were at home.

A few minutes later he stirred. One eye cracked open. "You staring at me? Take a photo, it’ll last longer.” He mumbled 

You brushed his hair out of his face, placing a kiss on his lips. "Maybe. Maybe I’m just enjoying the view.”

He squeezed you a little tighter. "I missed this."

You turned just enough to kiss the top of his messy hair. "I know, me too baby.”

"No, like..." His voice was still rough with sleep. "I know we see each other every day, and FaceTime, and text, and all that."

You waited.

"But sleeping next to you..." He sighed. "That's different. I’m sorry I’ve been so busy.”

Your heart squeezed. “Don’t be sorry, baby. You’ve been working hard.”

“I love you.” He sighed tiredly, placing a kiss on your neck. “So fucking grateful for you.”

“I love you more.”

Neither of you moved after that. Your phones buzzed somewhere across the room. Probably messages from the bov boys group chat about something silly. Probably another filming scheduled. Probably something that couldn't wait for them. 

For once, neither of you cared. The house stayed quiet as both of you dozed back to sleep. Everything in the world could wait.
