ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CONE DEODORANT

Here's something you didn't learn in history class...

Ever notice the strange looking cones worn on people's heads in Egyptian paintings? Believe it or not, the ancient Egyptians were the first ones to invent deodorant. The cones on their heads acted like personal air fresheners.

Each cone was made from scented grease and worn on top of their heads. As the grease melted, it ran a cooling, fragrant that trickled down their face and body. They were worn by everyone from, pharaohs, priests, nobles, artists, craftsmen, peasants, farmers, servants, slaves and more. After all, no matter what social class you fall under, we all produce the same noxious odor.

We recently took a trip to Chet Zar's studio, where we saw tons of monsters and not one, not two, but all three of his adorable pups!

Sam Simon, co-creator of Fox's animated hit The Simpsons, passed away in his L.A. home on Sunday afternoon after a long battle with colon cancer. Three years ago, Sam was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was told he had two months to live. He died at 59. The nine time Emmy winner was a fighter, and a tireless leader in the animal community.

The passionate philanthropist created The Sam Simon Foundation, an organization that helps rescue dogs find homes, and allows those in need of service dogs to find their new best friend, for free.

His foundation made the announcement on Facebook Monday afternoon: “It is with much sadness that we must let you know that Sam Simon has passed over. We all miss him, and in his honor, we will continue bringing his vision to light through our work at The Sam Simon Foundation. We take comfort in knowing how many greetings he is receiving across that Rainbow Bridge. We love you, Sam!”

Exciting news for all you Dr. Seuss lovers! A new book by Mr. Geisel is set to be released in late July. Nearly 20 years after the American writer and cartoonist's death, a lost treasure has been found. Seuss' widow, Audery Geisel, discovered a manuscript in the fall of 2013 along with two more of Dr. Seuss' unpublished works, which are said to be released at a later date.

Kelly is a world-renowned arbiter of style who has captured our collective imaginations through her dynamic interior design projects, and her home decor, jewelry and accessories collections.

She has been widely celebrated in the media for her visionary work, brought to life through her fearless use of vibrant color, and unexpected textural juxtapositions. In the Fall of 2011, Wearstler opened her first free standing boutique, located in Los Angeles on a chic stretch of Melrose Avenue.

Her work has been featured in international publications including, Vogue, Elle Décor, Harper's Bazaar, Architectural Digest, French and German AD, The Financial Times, InStyle, Elle, Conde Nast Traveler, Women's Wear Daily and The New York Times, among many others. In an extensive 2009 profile, The New Yorker called Wearstler "the presiding grande dame of West Coast interior design." She has also been documented on the CBS Morning Show. Her designs are frequently featured on such design blogs as The Coveteur and Apartment Therapy.

Yes, Pablo Picasso was one of the most influential artist of the 20th century, but did you know he had a secret love affair? 

In 1957, Picasso met Lump (pronounced"loomp"). Lump, the Dachshund, belonged to legendary American war photographer and friend, David Douglas Duncan, but when he met Picasso things changed.

It was love at first sight. When Picasso asked David if Lump had ever ate off his own plate, David said no. It was then when Picasso painted Lump his very own dinner plate. Lump immediately felt at home and went on to live with Picasso for the next six years. The two were inseparable. The dog slept in Picasso's bed, ate from a dinner plate and used a bronze Picasso statue as his urinal. Can you say spoiled?

The Spanish painter always liked animals. In fact, he had many other dogs, but he was never as close to any animal than he was to Lump. Lump was diagnosed with a spinal condition in 1964, which he eventually died from. A book was later published by Duncan which tells the story of Picasso and Lump's devotion to each other, you can find it here.
