I have this Headcanon that Gareth is Dustin’s cousin (like Gareth’s mom is Dustin’s aunt) and that they’re pretty close and that Gareth would end up finding out about the Upside Down and Vecna and what happened to Eddie from Dustin, (who really didn’t want to tell him about Eddie’s death) then he would (with the other Hellfire members) help defeat Vecna (since I think they would have helped and I think it was a mistake in the story that they didn’t)

(Basically, Nancy dies in trying to save Holly and the rest of them in the Upside Down and Steve and Jonathan are heartbroken and devastated. They come together to take revenge on Vecna and the upside down and form a bond (shared trauma) which starts off their friendship and then in the years to come - their relationship.) — sorry Nancy :/

(I thought this would be a great time for Steve to apologize for his earlier actions and then afterwards they become friends a bit etc.)

The thing I don’t get about S5 is the lack of caring (you never hear about anybody else caring about Eddie’s death, except for Dustin) about Eddie and his death, because obviously the Hellfire Club members (Mike, Dustin, Gareth, Jeff, Erica, Lucas, and Ronnie) would definitely care… I also was saddened to know that none of the Hellfire members were going to get involved with the whole plan to take down Vecna etc., we could have had a totally awesome thing happen where the Hellfire Club could find out about the upside down and what happened to Eddie and they could have helped in taking Vecna down and everything. It’s just kind of sad and feels like a loose thread to the series.
