"I'll toss to ya one of these days."

Atsumu Miya had made the promise years ago. He hadn't thought about it much until a ball of sunshine and distractions steps onto his court. Shouyou Hinata, the sun itself, becomes part of his team and his heart.

Bokuto has been going on all day about his star pupil trying out for the Black Jackals. Atsumu rolled his eyes, walking into the gym.

“Star pupil, my ass,” He muttered to himself as he walked over to the rest of the team.

“Where’s this Star pupil of yours?”

“Hey! Tsum-Tsum! He should be lining up with the rest of the people trying out!”

Atsumu scanned the crowed, looking for... he didn’t even know what the guy would look like. Dorky? Like an owl?

He smirked to himself, it was probably some goofy uhderclassmen from Fukurōdani.

“There he is!” Bokuto shouted, waving his hand wildly.

That’s when Atsumu saw /him/. An actual ray of sunshine. Right there on the court. He covered his eyes momentarily, his heart thumped hard in his chest.

What was /that/? He thought to himself, blushing.

He peeked through his fingers at the ball of pure light that had infiltrated their gym. He sucked in a breath, Shōyō Hinata.

“I’ll toss to ya one of these days,” it rang through his head like bells on a Sunday afternoon.

He couldn’t take his eyes off Shōyō.

His tan face was stretched back in a wide smile, showing off vibrant white teeth. His messy orange hair was cut to a short length now, but it was still unruly as ever.

He had grown a bit too, not just in height, but all around. Shōyō was /built/.

Shōyō Hinata was no longer a wisp of a kid. No, he was, well, Atsumu’s blush deepened, gorgeous.

He couldn’t take his eyes off him. In fact, no one in the gym could.

Shōyō may have been the hottest out of the lot, but his bright presence had all eyes on him.

If only that had been the end of it.

Atsumu sat in the locker room going over the notes from try outs.

Shōyō has been a force in high school, but now? He was a monster on the court.

He flew higher than before. Soaring over the net, if he had wings, they would have been stretched.

Atsumu hadn’t known what to expect when the tryouts began. He knew the guy had hops, but he lacked practical skills.

Today he got to see the new powers of Shōyō.

His sunny aura became an intense focus the moment the 3 on 3 matches began.

/HE/ led his trio to victory.

Shōyō Hinata was his own powerhouse.

“I’ll toss to ya one of these days.” He smiled at the memory. Shōyō was /his/ Spiker now.

They were going to recruit Shōyō Hinata onto the Jackals. And Atsumu’s season about to get a lot brighter.

Sakusa: We are inside. Why are you putting those on?

Atsumu: Wait for it.

Atsumu: *Looks at Sakusa* He’s just so damn bright.
