OOOH you're going to appreciate how he handles things going forward. He won't be perfect, and Aerea won't make shit easy for him at all (they'll but heads a lot especially on parenting), but you can consider this the start of his 'I have a new fave child arc' 😂

Ooh, fun fact! It's going to be special feature of sort, where you'll see the lizarding from two separate perspectives; first in an Outsiders POV where you'll get to follow Mildrith and her day to day, dealing with lizard nation bullshit, and then Aerion doing said lizard sex 😂😂😂

An hour later, just as Bess had prepared a plate for her to take to the Princess, the Prince appeared.

“Aerea’s not in the dining room,” he'd announced right at the door.

He strode into the kitchen slowly, tossing the black cloak onto the ground without care for who will pick it up. The air seemed to shift at his approach, the gathered halting their work in seconds.

“Aye,” Mildrith rushed to answer, before he could direct his ire at a specific target. “She's taking her meal in the library.”

The Princeling’s brows lifted. “And I’ve not been told about this because?”

Mildrith sighed.

“Because she requested to eat alone today.”

Silence. The women all quickly returned to their business, shrinking into themselves as much as they could to escape notice.

A slow, creeping smile curled the corner of Aerion's pouty mouth.

“Is that so?” reaching over, he snatched a grape from one of the bowls on the counter. “And pray tell, what spurned this unexpected decision?"

She tried to feign nonchalance. “I don’t know, my Prince. She said she was feeling sour today. So she asked to eat alone.”

More smiling. After a moment, he puckered his lips, and directed his attention to the second bowl; one containing dried fruit.

“Well, if that’s how that’s going to be; then I suppose I must be sour too,” without warning, he jammed his fist into it, scooping up a handful of raisins

Like a petulant child, he stormed over to the food platter and dumped them right in. The raisins mixed with the meat and gravy, vanishing into the mess in such a way that there was no fishing them out.

Their only choice would be to remake the plate entirely, but she knew the spoiled thing wouldn't allow that.

“Tell her to enjoy herself,” the Prince smiled, then gave Violet a quick little wink. Mildrith might have told him that wasn’t like to see his wife change her mind; she might have even chastised him for being so petulant.

Violet reminded her exactly why she shouldn’t.

“Like that?” she mumbled, grimacing at the lumpy gravy. “But the Princess hates her raisins.”

Aerion dragged his tongue over his top lip.

“Does she now? Tell me, what does my Father pay you for?”

Violet blanched. “Uh… to uh, clean the… dishes.”

“Exactly. To clean the dishes. Not lecture me on what my wife likes and doesn’t like,” he scoffed and pushed the tray at her. “Now do what you’re paid for and take this to her.”

Violet sputtered some more, her gaze frantically darting Bess's way.

“I’ll do it,” Mildrith quickly swept in, seizing the tray before he could dump anything else into it. The Princeling kept smiling, then stuck another grape between his teeth

I hope aerion and aerea manage to actually communicate and atleast spend the last few years of their lives together in peace (before one of them dies or something since aerion ends up dying while drinking wildfire in canon)

You'll get several moments. I'm lowkey debating doing a few post exile A Dragon in Human form chapters to get Aerion's POV on things, so it will be twofold; both his and her perspective (this mostly came about because I spent last night awake until 2 in the morning thinking about the post exile plot, and then I started scribbling stuff that made me cry ngl)

I recommend checking out all their stuff cause its sublime. But also, be warned, they ain't shy about writing about some extremely messed up things.

Mostly cause it's a boundary for her. She's in a lot of pain when she gets it, so sex is about the last thing on her mind.

They did bone when she was on her period, but only once (in the woods, when she tried to escape, and then he fingered her in the bathtub when he dragged her back)

Yeah, you should be. Her health will deteriorate significantly and Papa will have to step in and do a lot of work to make sure she's okay.
