FACTS (to be expanded)
Childhood:
Willa was too young to remember much about the untimely murder of her parents when she was just a child, only recalling the feeling of holding onto the hands of her younger twin siblings, Bambi and Addison, as their eldest brother encouraged them to hide in a closet during the home invasion. Despite the tragic loss of their parents, though, growing up with the unfaltering love of her siblings made up for their absence from her childhood in spades.
With a near boundless support from her family unit, as well as her found family in the circus trope that raised her, Willa excelled at a great many things growing up, picking up most skills she tried her hand at with ease (though, remaining interested in her many hobbies was a different beast altogether). She trained as a trapeze artist along with her brothers, an activity that she managed to stick to throughout the majority of her childhood.
A curious girl with more questions than her older brother Dustin could reasonably answer, her penchant for getting to the bottom of things made her a model student in the circus trope's homeschooling program. With a natural aptitude for academics and a fervent desire to learn new things (paired with her more unconventional background), Willa eventually earned a scholarship at an Ivy League university. The decision to leave her family behind to pursue this opportunity was a difficult one to make, but she viewed the change as a new adventure and ultimately took the leap.
But of course, learning wasn't the only thing that awaited Willa at university. There, she met a mysterious and intelligent young man, Eric, who swiftly charmed her and became her first serious relationship. But behind the smooth talking and big words he so loved to throw around with abandon lurked someone else entirely, a person she didn't recognize. Slowly, his "love" for her morphed into something uglier and more controlling. He relished in twisting every other word out of her mouth, discouraging Willa from talking to anyone outside of his orbit, including her once unbreakable family unit.
The abuse in their relationship escalated from the occasional psychological games to frequent physical and sexual violence, until Willa no longer recognized either of them. Desperate and feeling truly alone for the first time in her life, she waited until Eric went to work one day and reached out to her older brother, who wasted no time in removing her from the situation.
Present Day:
After years lost to this dysfunctional dynamic, Willa is more than ready to spread her wings and earn her independence in Sin City. Excited for the chance to be her own person after spending so long tethered to a wolf in sheep's clothing, she makes an active effort to not allow that experience to taint the way she views the rest of the world. But despite her desire to see only the good in people, putting her trust in just anyone remains a struggle. Just because she is well read and educated doesn't mean she's always the best at trusting her instincts or using common sense.
Though she is incredibly tenacious and quick-witted, Willa's struggled to put any of her big ambitions into motion after she graduated from school. With an aptitude in a wide range of subjects but no clear direction for her future, she was unsure where to put her newfound time and energy until a job opening at the local news station as an on-air reporter gave her a newfound sense of clarity, reconnecting the brunette with her love of journalism, writing, and performance.
Reconnecting with her family has been her biggest priority since moving to the city. The Graves-Seong kids share an close knit bond, something that Willa missed dearly during her college years, but especially throughout her fraught relationship.
To this day, Willa's curiosity about the world around her persists, fueling her desire to learn as much as possible through the books littering her apartment and the documentaries she has a penchant for renting. But could any amount of book learning in the world prepare her for what awaits in the seedy underbelly of Las Vegas? And are all mysteries worth solving?
