It is with profound lamentation that I must convey my inability to correspond further. By the time this missive graces your hands, I may have already departed this mortal coil. The boy I have raised is not of my own lineage, nor is he of his mother's. He is an abomination, a veritable demon in human guise. How grievous is my folly to have heeded her counsel, to have granted that... thing... a place in my life. From the very instant I beheld its grotesque visage, I discerned its true nature. Alas, I have been most imprudent to tolerate its presence for so long.

I have endeavored with every ounce of my strength to expel this monstrosity from my existence. I have undertaken every conceivable ritual, forged countless pacts, even offered the very flesh that bore him. Do you comprehend the desperation that compelled me? Yet, despite all efforts, none have borne fruit. Not a single stratagem proved efficacious. My recourses dwindle, and now I am driven to an inexorable resolution. This manor shall be reduced to ashes with that creature ensconced within. It has been seven interminable years since my eyes first met that fiendish being, and I can endure it no longer. Your refusal to intervene has left me no alternative but to enact the ultimate course. I shall obliterate my dearest love, my legacy. Perhaps this is divine retribution for my actions. Yet, I remain steadfast in my conviction that I am the protagonist in this tragic tale, regardless of the opinions of others.

Thus, my lineage concludes with me. I hope you are tormented by many a sleepless night, haunted by the memory of what transpired, knowing that you could have prevented this calamity had you but fulfilled your duty.

I've finally done it. I've tracked down that slippery weasel. Everyone told me I couldn't do it, but I knew they were just fools. Fools, or snakes in disguise. I've broken every rule by being here. My job. My sex. My race. My home. Every single aspect of myself spits in the face of what mankind knows. I don't care if it's suicide. I'm finally here. The [[Dealer]] has been located. I've tracked down his very position without a single shadow of a doubt in my mind. And just when I thought I couldn't be more sure… it turns out I wasn't the only one tracking him.

The origins of the letter I've received are unknown, and are suspicious at best. But what they say I can already prove to be fact. They aren't liars. But I know there's something else happening here. I've already left for America. After this, I know that I can finally look at myself in the mirror and smile. This is my proof. I deserve to be here. I deserve to live, just as he deserves to die.

…Henry. You were so worried when I left. I know you support me, but I know it would be impossible not to let what others say get to you. They've gotten to me as well. The brave face you put on as you bid me farewell and kiss me goodbye is one I know you must have spent hours crafting. But I know you didn't do it for me. You know I could see through it. Your inability to arrive to work shows a concerning lack of discipline, a feature that frankly, we did not expect from your family. Your desk has already been cleared out, and your personal belongings have been disposed of. If you wish to reclaim them, please check the trash bins before the collection day this coming Tuesday. Please do be aware that we have released a statement about your sudden abandonment to other corporations in this industry. Stan, I don’t know what’s happening, but I know this ain’t you. Don’t listen to these soul sucking vampires, they only care about their bottom line. This place was too good for you anyway. Still, I know you’re too much of a stand-up guy to just abandon ship like this. I tried telling them, but they don’t care at all. I quit today. They’re pretty pissed off, they even tried giving me your old job but that just pissed me off even more. I ended up breaking the boss’s nose and spending a night with the cops.

You’re the only person I ever cared about in this hellhole, and I swear I’m gonna find you. No matter what happened, I’ll find you. Either alive… or at least I’ll get closure. But I won’t let you go missing like you’re nothing. You’re so much more than that. You are to me. I’m using your spare key to take your car, and I swear to god that I’ll track you down. I’ll go to the ends of the earth if I have to. I’ll even go back to the orphanage, whatever it takes to get information. I don’t know why I’m writing this. Maybe it’s just for me. Maybe I’m hoping you’ll come home and find it. I don’t know. All I know is that this crappy world isn’t worth it if I’m not with you.

Before you freak out and panic, like I know you probably will, I’m letting you know I’m safe. I’ve entered myself into a competition of some kind. And yes, it’s legitimate. I saw the documents and everything. I know things haven’t been so easy since I got blacklisted. And I full believe that this is the chance I’ve been looking for. The chance that we’ve been looking for. And while I don’t totally understand everything that’s happening, I have a feeling things are gonna turn out just fine. You know my gut is hardly ever wrong. But just to make you feel a little better, I made sure to write the moment I had a breath to myself.

I’m still not sure what kind of competition this is. They had us show up at some mansion in Connecticut, but as soon as everyone arrived this lady in a red coat hurried us all onto a train. While I would’ve liked to see the inside of the place, I’m certainly not here to complain about the train, either. This thing is the dictionary definition of luxury. The seats are great, the food’s great, and the views are something else. The people are a little weird, but I’m trying to keep to myself. So far the only one to talk to me was some kinda bartender, but I’m not sure if he’s working for the train or if he’s in the same situation I’m in. Probably doesn’t matter.

Anyway, the train ride is supposedly gonna take about seven days, but I convinced the head lady to take a stop so I can mail this. Hopefully you get it sooner rather than later. And make sure to remember your meds. I love you.

First, allow me to apologise for everything that’s happened to both you and your family. I truly cannot imagine living in your position, and I have nothing but respect for your unwavering determination in seeing your children to good health.

Your son has been recovering quite well. The blood transfusions were successful, and he recently awoke with, for what we can tell, a sane mind. Occasional bouts of delusions still haunt his psyche, but it’s nothing we cannot work with.

Sadly, I cannot say the same for your daughter. Her self-inflicted mutilations were rather difficult to contain, but we have managed to get her into a semi stable condition. Her mind, however, seems to be broken beyond any conceivable repair. While we are trying our hardest to find a suitable treatment for her psychosis, we have decided to move her to a more secure position, to avoid her harming herself or others to any further extent. The harm she has caused to doctors and nurses here at the clinic cannot be ignored, as much as I want to help her. I must protect the lives of my colleagues before anything else. Never in my life have I believed a person could be so cruel. So unnecessarily evil. We started these games to change lives, to give people new opportunities. To help them push through their worst moments. What does causing a Rift like this accomplish? Something new? Something unique? Something to keep you entertained? I couldn’t care less if you’re in charge of your game, the fact that you can just rip someone from their lives against their will makes me sick to my stomach.

The games are consensual. We send letters. The participants show up. That’s what we agreed on, that’s what we ALL agreed on. You don’t even have the excuse of an experiment, do you? I know you don’t care about that side of the games, no, you’re just a sick bastard. What will he do if he survives, hm? Have you thought about that at all? He won’t get his prize. Because he doesn’t have one. Because he doesn’t. Have. A letter. I feel like I’m going insane, am I the only one who cares about these humans?
