I have learned over the years how essential gentleness towards oneself is. When you are having a bad moment, bad day, bad year, or a seemingly bad life you owe it to yourself to be kind, to be patient, and to be loving. Beating yourself up over mistakes of the past or present doesn’t help you in anyway to do better. It’s an act of abuse against yourself, and it will only make you hurt more. Don’t break apart your own soul. Don’t crush your heart into pieces. Please don’t destroy yourself from the inside out. Be gentle with yourself every single second of every moment of every single day. You are learning, you are growing – you will fumble and stumble but I know you can and will rise again. You are worthy of your own attention, care, and forgiveness. If you’ve been treating yourself badly today I really hope that you’ll take this opportunity to no longer speak hate into your life but rather love, hope, healing, and joy. You are not a bad person. You are not a failure. You are not meaningless. You are not born to suffer. You are not fated for misery. You are a precious human being. Sweetheart, YOU ARE A PRECIOUS HUMAN BEING. A bad moment doesn’t change that. A mistake doesn’t undo your worth. You are a magnificent treasure, and I hope that today you would begin the process of restoring your soul.

Maybe you lost someone you never expected you would lose. Maybe you lost yourself. That’s even worse. When you have bad days that just won’t let up, I just hope that you will look in the mirror and remind yourself of what you are and what you are not. You are not your mistakes. You are not damaged goods or money from your failed explorations. You are not the opinion of someone who doesn’t know you. You are a product of the lessons that you’ve learned. You are wiser because you went through something terrible. And you are the person who survived a bunch of rainstorms and kept walking. I now believe that pain makes you stronger. And now I believe that walking through a lot of rainstorms gets you… Clean.

Your most negative thoughts about yourself are not who you actually are.

I think the worst part about going through a betrayal, a loss, a breakup, someone leaves your life, someone proves to be not what you thought they were, the worst part about that, is that you immediately feel stupid for having trusted somebody and having let somebody into your life. And… I think that’s so terrible because trusting people and letting people into your life are beautiful things to do, they’re not stupid things to do.

Her advice was, ‘Don’t worry about being cool or trying to be perfect. Say what you need to say and be who you are because in the end that’s going to be what makes you normal.‘

Tell me, do I need to be like her for you to love me the way you loved her? Why can’t you love me for me? Because I don’t want you to love me just because I am her, I want you to love me because I’m me.

You know what you deserve? You deserve so much better. So many things have happened to you whether its a bad break up, family issues, friends, whatever it is.. you pulled through. You have made it this far and I’m proud of you. You truly deserve the world and since no one can give you that now, find someone that will, apologize, forgive but don’t forget, find new friends. Ones that make plans with you and free their time to give you attention. You deserve all good things and don’t for a second think you’re not worth it because you remind me of the sun, you hide away but always come back even more beautiful than before.

No words could ever describe you in your completeness and yet, I am spending my life on earth trying to make you immortal and keep hold of you by writing a thousand poems about the way your eyes sparkle when you laugh or how your lips appear so kissable.
