Why are people so against Hannibal being the bottom or submissive for Will? I can accept that for most relationships he is the top and dom; he isn't gonna be vulnerable for just anyone. But when it comes to Will? That man will do anything that's asked of him just to please the man he so worships, the one he is enamoured with. Hannibal is so obsessed with Will he wants to experience him any way possible, and to see Will in his full form, to see him be assertive and cruel, and to be at the receiving end of that.

Hannibal who spends the whole show trying to get Will to embrace this darker side of himself, of course he's gonna wanna experience it first hand - to feel that sadistic nature directed towards him.

Will describes Hannibal's mind as a hot darkness to Bedelia in s3. Hannibal says that Will's has a fevered sweetness in s1. He calls Will's imagination beautiful and remarkable multiple times. And then the ''The way other minds can't.'' ''Yours can.'' dialogue... The ''I can feed the caterpillar'' scene in 2x08, too. There are multiple scenes of Will explaining to others how Hannibal's mind works, because he's the only one who understands, and he always does it with a particular softness. Quiet admiration.

There is even a scene in s2 I believe where he says ''we can all learn from Hannibal's mindset, in a way'' (or something like that) to Jack. Who then stares at him with an 'are you crazy?' face until Will corrects himself. Other characters (Alana and Jack, for example) talk about how only Will understands Hannibal's way of thinking and sees a beauty in no one else sees. In s1 Bedelia and Hannibal talk about Will's state of mind and sometimes along the lines of ''I want to contain Will's madness, like an oil spill.'' is said.

Will is the only one with access to Hannibal's memory palace. He sees the structures in Hannibal's mind, mirroring the Norman chapel, and sees it as it as the grandiose and layered thing it really is. Hannibal, on his part, has seen Will's potential for becoming his ''partner in crime''/the man he has become in The Wrath of the Lamb from the beginning. He saw potential, and thus beauty (because for Hannibal Lecter what is potential if not beauty?) and that way ''helped'' Will become his true, authentic self.

“But it’s confusing!” If you take the time to educate yourself it’ll no longer be confusing. Otherwise you’re just gonna have to learn to be ok with being confused.

“But it’s weird!” You probably do weird things all the time. Everyone does weird things sometimes. Life goes on.

“But it scares me!” Is it hurting you? No? You’ll be fine. Being scared and being harmed are not always the same thing. Learn to tell the difference and then act accordingly.

"But it makes me uncomfortable!" The world is an uncomfortable place and complete strangers are not required to fix that for you. Learning to endure harmless discomfort is a life skill for existing in public.

"But I don't like it!" There's plenty of things in the world and not all of them are fun or enjoyable or For You. This applies to everyone and we all have to deal with that in a mature fashion.
