I would very much like the good omens fandom to retire the south downs cottage thing as if it's the only possible ending for the characters. not only because it's not actually canon, but it seems seems to have come predominantly from neil gaiman, and I don't think we need to be accepting his word as definitive at this point given...things. I also simply don't like it and find it annoyingly domestic and hetero/allonormative. like maybe we don't take the queer characters who can be headcanoned into literally any queer identity out of their queer community in soho so they can play house and look like a nice cottage-core married couple that straight people would think are "some of the good ones". maybe we don't need to do that. so much.
