slightly messy lol!! I don’t use guidelines when I do pen drawings!!

did this because I’ve made a few connections between the two. they both have a sort of false facade about them which is how they front/present themselves at first. they both are kind of in a way incapable of loving (normally) nagitos luck cycle makes him feel both unworthy of love and like he’d probably be an unsafe person to be with, while Estella was brought up to be loved, but not to love back due to how she was raised my Miss Havisham (“I am what you designed me to be. I am your blade. You cannot now complain if you also feel the hurt”) (I quote great expectations comfortably as I’ve read the novel over eleven times) if Estella was a character today, I believe she would be classified as an ill character, mentally warped by trauma and emotional manipulation throughout early childhood. similar things can be said for Nagito, severe mental illness/disorder. they both seem to view human lives/emotions as “stepping stools” for their goals. Nagito has his hope, and Estella has Miss Havisham. they’re both very morally grey/gray characters. Estella is at times downright cruel while Nagito… Nagito has the whole 5th chapter thing. (along with the rest of the sabotage and antics and murder plan) but they are both victims of their circumstances. they also both take on a role of twisted fascination and act as a catalyst for the protagonists character development. (without Nagitos death there wouldn’t have been much exploration of Izuru Kamakura imo) (without Nagitos death Estella, she’s Pips whole reason for chasing a better more impressive life for himself) also Nagito is very homoerotically obsessed with Hajime in a very toxic twisted way. which Estella has a complex and toxic relationship with pip.

idk I love both of them, and I could go on and on about Estella specifically, because she is probably my favorite character out of all media I’ve consumed.
