Instead he cited the young players (and to a lesser extent draft picks) the org already has. He cited the success that Coachella has had. Obviously with his background he might be biased toward players who work their way up the hard way, but he's not wrong I think.

It's clear the team is gonna have to earn the league's respect on its own merit. If that means clawing our way into the playoffs as a ragtag group of misfits then so be it. Maybe someday we'll be a destination and star players will want to come here. But until then we have to make our own stars. And you know what's crazy? None of the big star pending FA forwards that have been traded this week were top ten picks. They were all drafted late first round and early second round. WHICH IS CRAZY. Literally we could have Robo at home.
