Gonna start making my partner watch more of the monster high movies again. The problem is I made them watch Boo York and they loved the musical format too much. They want all of it to be musicals now. Fuck. I raised the bar too high.

I got one of the new monster high dolls for Christmas and yknow for as much as I have issues with G3, Venus is so cute, her braids are so good and her accessories and vibes she slays so hard and I love her. Same with Abbey. Whilst I don’t love the new abbey as much and want an older G2 abbey she is still cute and I love having her on my shelf.

All this to say I love monster high and I will never stop. Even if I don’t post here much, I love it.

Okay so like, tell me I’m wrong here, but is monster high or is monster high not one of the more accurate versions of Frankenstein’s monster we have seen in mainstream media?

Hear me out here:

- she’s intelligent: Mary Shelley’s Monster was very eloquent in his speech and also successfully frames someone for murder

- The movies explicitly talk about her mother, I.e the monster’s wife, who may not have been completed in the book but definitely existed

- They also mention how her father dislikes her grandfather, Victor Frankenstein himself, similarly to his book self

- she wants to be accepted by human society: Mary Shelley’s monster’s whole thing was he wanted to be accepted by humanity and then decided to take vengeance when we tried to kill him

There’s probably more but I haven’t read the book myself so like, thoughts?? I just think it’s interesting is all

Okay what really annoys me about the new movie, is that they just up and changed all the characters entire personalities with the only good reason being idk, they’re the main characters of monster high? It sells more dolls?

But personally, if they wanted to make a witchy vampire that feels very in touch with her human side and maybe a lil out of touch with her vampire side that would have been a great character and a really interesting concept. But it’s not draculaura.

A shy nerdy werewolf who’s interested in dating? Yeah cool! That’s not Clawdeen tho!

A couple breaking up and moving on? That’s perfectly alright! But cleo and deuce would not do that!
