Sometimes, you have to learn the hard way. Before every wrestling match, we were issued one jockstrap, singlet, t-shirt, and sweatpants. But somehow, my jockstrap kept disappearing. I was sure I had it—watched the equipment manager pile my gear together and shove it into my gym bag. Yet here I was, for the third time, changing into my singlet with no jockstrap in sight. Each time this happened, they billed my student account $10 for the missing strap, which was outrageous considering these things were far from new—washed, sure, but definitely recycled through countless other athletes. Now, once again, I had no choice but to wrestle free-balling in my singlet, hoping it would give me enough support—and praying my heavy balls wouldn't hang too low to make things too obvious.
