I’ve seen a few people recommending Monstrous to read after Heated Rivalry which I’m very excited for and I hope more people do read it

But I would like to warn people to PLEASE read the warnings

It’s a very good series and I love it with all my heart and I’d love to recommend it to everyone, but it is a lot. It gets quite graphic and not just in the sexy way, I don’t want people going into that series unprepared, thinking you’re getting something like Heated Rivalry.

If you’re in it for the romance it’s amazing, the world building is great, but I was a bit surprised by how graphic some descriptions were on my first read.

#and I might be making it sound a lot worse #but there’s graphic torture and murder scenes #maybe I’m a wimp idk #I am a wimp I hate horror movies #the sexy scenes get pretty freaky too but it’s nothing crazy imo #monstrous #monstrous lily mayne #monstrous series #heated rivalry #I’m working through the game changers series and it’s not terrible but it’s nothing special #it’s growing on me but it’s not a masterpiece #I’m enjoying it but some parts are quite cringey #and there’s like zero subtext #no reading between the lines at all #there’s a bit of subtext for a second and then it gets explained 2 paragraphs later #monstrous though #i do not have the words to express my love for this series #lily mayne the woman you are #okay maybe the sixth one gets a bit crazy #but I enjoyed it #if anyone reads it PLEASE message me about it #like live updates of how you feel about it #I’m not joking #I want to vicariously read it for the first time #still no update on when the eighth book it coming but when it’s here I’ll be a hermit for however long it takes me to read it #I’ll probably go ahead and read it 7 times just to be sure

More thoughts on my latest reread

Can’t believe I didn’t realize that it’s definitely a baregh (probably Gryf, who else?) they describe seeing on chains in the prison

Now I’m worried I knew lyri was in there so obviously it makes sense, and I know at the end of Lor Lyri says that he’s okay but I gotta know what happened man why isn’t he with them?

ALSO the monster Edin and Hunter meet at the entrance (the one who takes Edin’s name and gives them the number and bracelet for Hunter) is the same type as Ruke right? How many times have I read this and I’m still noticing new things?

Also this one’s from a short and I just hadn’t thought of it, but it’s always been unclear when the apocalypse happened. Going on the timeline in Lor it happened sometime in the late 90s. HOWEVER, Charlie has a thing for elves, specifically the elves from the lord of the rings movies. The first lord of the rings movie came out in 2001, so unless they were still making movies after the monster apocalypse, then it happened in the early 2000’s

Finally read the most recent short on the website (spoiler alert even though I’m sure nobody will see this)

There’s sooo much lore, they keep mentioning vints and how they’ll be traveling to the monster world and starting their lives together, AND there’s another tear somewhere in the us?

I know I’m just getting my hopes up but oh my god she better not be fucking with me right now because this is making it seem like Lyri might actually be coming soon I’ve been waiting so long

I’ve been here since before Moth came out and she announced Seraph and what she referred to as “cats book” before there was ever any talk about Lor

I don’t think anybody understands how ready I am for this damn book I’ve been waiting literal years for it

#please I need to know what happened to cats sister #and I want lyris perspective he seems so fun but there’s gotta be some angst lurking under there #and I know from the end of Lor that him and Lyri are reuinoted but I NEED to know the story that leads up to it #my brain is in limbo right now #no matter what it seems like I’m focusing on just know that at least half of my brain power is being devoted to thinking about this book #and how it might potentially go down #however I have been wondering something #she already set it that around a year after jugs wakes up is when lyri gets back #within that year is when Wyn takes place because Lor and Jugs see him and Danny in thinir during that time #but she keeps writing Christmas shorts #there’s been at least five christmases since then #when are all these christmases happening if lyris supposed to be getting back less than a year after the Wyn novella takes place?#monstrous lily mayne #monstrous series #also unrelated but I’m excited for the Christmas short this year I hope it’s Charlie and moth celebrating at their safehouse #but I would also be happy if it were seraph and lilac because I love them and there’s not a lot of shorts for them #like we’ve got an Edin and hunter solo Christmas short #wyn and Danny have their own so do jugs and Lor #I guess it would make sense if it was rig and Gloam or ghost and Aury because they don’t have their own yet and they weren’t focused #on much in the whole camp Christmas short #but still Charlie and moth are my faves closely followed by seraph and lilac so that’s what I’m hoping for #I’ll probably be happy with any of them #I hope she keeps doing shorts even after the books are all done #because now I’m thinking about all the cute possibilities once they’re all happy and settled in the monster world

Rereading the Monstrous series again and I was overcome with the urge talk to someone who gets why I’m so obsessed
