hi this is mono and welcome to my anime corner. i talk about anime that i watch and post art that i will occasionally do.

artfight is over, i'm surprisingly not burnt out so i can get back to work on this immediately.
however, my travelling schedule will be weird for the next month and i dont know how that will play out yet. i also want to purchase a full size pc so i'll need maybe a full weekend to build/install it.
so, that will result in some delays.

the best course of action i think will be to push the chapter 3 release until september, where i will only be missing for one week instead of like. on and off for 3.
instead, i will release fully revised chapter 1 by mid-august and chapter 2 by the end of august.

additionally and completely unrelated to wbhxh au, i also want to keep working on all my demon slayer projects so now that artfight is out of the way i can focus on those.

so this chapter changed my stance on "canis is the watchman" theory.
this is pure speculation but walk with me for a bit
i dont think canis is actually the big guy in the sky. and i think that for a few reasons
we now know that the god and canis were two different people AT SOME POINT.
Canis was cursed by a god and atm i dont know which one
i think he died alone based on his will and his kit
so my running theory now is that each apostle had their own god. there is merit for god (singular) but for now let's assume every apostle had their own god. which makes this a 4 god polytheism.
we know that somewhere along the line the humans decided to rebel against the gods. and conveniently, there is an apostle who supposedly created the tools perfect for fighting gods
the cancellation cuffs
ophelia must have been the prime source of rebellion because she alone has the power to fight against the powers of the gods, using the power of another god.
she creates the hellguard to fight with her and the other apostles (and probably the gods) realize what she's doing could actually work. but the recorder and macaca aren't combatants. they likely didn't want any part in the conflict and sought to protect their own.
which leaves canis completely alone to do what he thinks is right.
and we know that the surebrecs are just (morality is genetic, it's an anime rule look it up /j) so canis did have the stance of justice on his side.
because imagine for a second that the Ground was thriving under the gods' rule. or at least was prosperous in the sense that everyone could become a Giver, so at the very least individual people were very happy.
there would be power struggles as there always would be and there must have been some social unrest brewing that no one addressed- certainly not the gods- that ophelia noticed and decided to tackle herself.
but in waging a war, so many poeple would lose their lives- or worse their powers- and their way of life would be completely overturned.
canis the pacifist decides to intervene and try to fight on the gods' behalf, on the belief that their power isn't the thing that is evil.
but, no one will take his side. because ophelia's force is too strong. even if you have jinkis yourself, she can just cancel it out and your useless little fleshbag is way less durable than a god.
so canis is completely alone, but he is an apostle, he should have power greater or equal to ophelia's. and he makes the watchman series. with all six (maybe more) pieces of the series, he is a very dangerous force to be reckoned with.
but, despite all of that, he loses.
and then this part either goes one of two ways
canis' god forsakes him and curses him for his failures
canis' god grants canis one final wish
either way, canis manifests the surebrec curse. the markings on his hands appear and he gives it his all in one final outburst of rage.
maybe he survives the battle or maybe he doesn't. but the hell guard wins that fight and carries on to take down the gods.
and then he dies
his children then inherit the curse (leaning more towards "god forsakes him" theory) and the cycle repeats where the surebrecs inherit the gods' power, now imbued into the watchman series, but if they give into their rage, they lose their minds and attack anything in sight.

but the most important part of this i think is that canis fought completely alone at some point. it just makes sense for his character, the way it's written and every surebrec that came after.
they're all loners by circumstances they couldn't control and wanted to leave behind something for their descendants so they could live a better life. even if canis' will was just a simple apology.
ugh i cant explain it properly cuz i had like 2 new theories pop into my head while writing this.

their growth would look the same, except instead of heavens arena they'd probably learn similar to how they did on greed island. and since they aren't rushed by a 4 hour time limit they're able to refine the four basics a lot better and maybe move onto advanced techniques by yorknew
their abilities would be the same ngl. both of their abilities are very personal to them and since the "joining period" would only be like a year or even 2 months at best, their choices will not be affected by their mentors.
killua and feitan would get along great ngl. don't ask me why that would be a completely separate post and we'd be here for 3 hours. gon would probably get along with nobu and uvo. uvo being his role model and nobu being his mentor. yes it's a gimme answer but come on. it would work.
advanced techniques. probably also be asked some pretty hard moral questions earlier in their journey. like yorknew would be their chimera ant arc.
probably. like if the troupe really fw him they'd notice his behavior is Not Normal and investigate. that and they have an in with illumi so if they put the right pressure on illumi they would find out and be able to remove it.
same as canon, do not fuck with that shit. tbh chimera ant arc might not even happen. the ants might be stopped by the association or kite solo dolo and the troupe are none the wiser.
nobunaga. he's the only one patient enough to teach kids i feel like. everyone else gets pissed off way too easy or break their bones on accident.
paku would protecc and uvo would attacc. i mean if you want everyone's interactions with both of them then we'd be here all day but i think they'd enjoy gon and killua's company. it's nostalgic for them.
do i have a completely fleshed out hypothetical of this au starting all the way back in the hunter exam arc.
