I like the idea that different servers have to have code (or lore magic, depending on the server) to accommodate different hybrids, and different servers do it differently. Maybe every server comes with some amount of prewritten code that is a blanket cover to prevent pain or injury or dangerous Instincts (eg making it so water-based hybrids can breathe air, undead hybrids may be sun-sensitive but not catch fire, vampire hybrids don’t want to devour everything/one, netherborn can survive at overworld tempetures)

Some servers have more accommodations (eg hermitcraft, which continuously tries to make the world as comfortable as possible for the players and often updates its code) and some have lore-specific ones (like vampires or empires, based on the stories told within)

I’m imagining a group from an established, well-protected server visiting another that’s run by non-hybrids, or who had the members all create their own custom-coded accommodations. the Experienced group expects at least the blanket protections, of course, because they’re everywhere. The Inexperienced group has a bunch of individuals who spaghetti-coded something to keep them looking human and not in pain. The blanket protections were deleted in a corruption event or by someone who didn’t know how server running worked. The members don’t know how to code or why their protections work, and they forgot to tell the Experienced group. queue a bunch of players ready for a great

collaboration spawning in and several of them spontaneously collapse. a creaking hybrid cannot move, a merplayer can’t breathe, blazeborne starts to catch the grass on fire. mad scrambling, possibly a server restart, and a server admin yelling at the spaghetti coders.
