Prompt: Bucky x Reader, where he is madly in love with her, protects her. Reader is hurt and Bucky is in the winter soldier mode and only reader can stop him.
Note: Buckyyyyy. Omg, I’ve been dying to write some Bucky fic since I saw Civil War.

“(Y/N), the situation’s escalated,” Steve told you through the com in your ear. You huffed in frustration, holding your newly-shattered ankle. This mission was not going at all as planned.
“Tell me something I don’t know,” You replied. “What happened?”
“Oh no,” Your stomach dropped. You already knew where this was headed.
“Oh yes,” Tony took over. “He’s coming up on your left. Is there a problem? Can you handle it?”
“Shattered ankle,” you told them.
“Shit,” Nat cursed. “Nevermind. (Y/N), I’m bringing him to you. You have the safe words?”
“Committed to memory,” You tapped your temple, not that any of them could see it anyway.
“Angry assassin with a metal arm incoming,” Sam warned, swooping overhead as Natasha led Bucky over towards you. You grabbed a metal railing and pulled yourself to your feet, reciting the words in your mind.
“[Safe haven]” You recited in Russian, facing Bucky as he came at you walking quickly. “[Two. Sunset. Lovers. North Star. Red. Zero. Sword. Life. Blue. Sunrise.]” Bucky slowed, the edge still in his gaze. He advanced towards you, power in his step. “[Sixteen. Remember. Return.]”
You finished, struggling to stand on your ankle any longer, you fell backwards. Bucky rushed forward and caught you in his arms. He sighed, the murder leaving his stare.
“(Y/N),” he whispered, realizing what had happened. He had lost control, but once again, your voice had pulled him out of it. “Thank you,”
“No prob,” You shrugged, pain on your face. He looked down and noticed your ankle, swollen and bruised. Carefully, he slipped an arm under your knees and around your waist, holding you to his chest. You gripped him for support.
“Why is it only you that can bring me back?” Bucky asked, his voice low, barely even a whisper.
“I don’t know, Buck,” You replied, your voice soft. Your eyes met his and you smiled gently. “Maybe there’s something you’re not telling me.”
“You know there is,” he replied, smirking. You brought a hand to his cheek, stroking his face with your thumb.
“Maybe we should continue this conversation when we get home.”
“I think that’s a great idea,” Bucky nodded.
“So do I,” Tony groaned over the coms. “You two make me wanna barf.”
“Aww Tony, shut up. It’s cute.” Nat smirked. Your cheeks burned red. So did Bucky’s.
“Let’s get you outta here,” Bucky told you, carrying you back to the quinjet. You couldn’t imagine a better place to be than right in his arms.
