Lestat is known to not be the most reliable teacher of vampire things and Louis, born in America has never even heard of the rice counting thing until one night they’re strolling the streets in the middle of an argument when an old lady drops a bag of rice and it spills on the ground.

Lestat curses and drops onto his knees starting to count and Louis just keeps walking because whu wouldn’t he? Until Lestat yells at him ”13… Louis what the fuck are you doing? 14… 15… Come back here!” Louis turns back around not expecting Lestat to be on his knees on the ground helping a human, that’s beneath him. He’s just picking up grains of rice muttering numbers under his breath ”28… 29... Louis you need to count the rice! 30... 31...”
