Hey guys, so yeah I’m probably like 1 month late but here it goes, my list of Best Albums of 2018. Devoured a lot of music last year (Spotify made it easier to access them) and consisted of so so many different genres. Hope you guys enjoy the list and discover great music along the way.

72. Pearl Charles - Sleepless Dreamer = Impressive and fun debut album from the LA born singer songwriter, combining different subgenres of music that includes Cosmic Country & Southern Acid Rock.

71. Big Red Machine - Big Red Machine = The National’s Aaron Dessner & Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon’s interesting but uneven Folk-tronica love child.

70. Soccer Mommy - Clean = Clean feels like an Alternative Rock album written by the sweet girl next door simply because of how relatable it is however it does suffer from how melodically simple it is.

69. Jungle - For Ever = Another fine effort from the London based Electronic Neo Soul duo however, the tweaks they made were too subtle throughout the album that it feels rather one note and somewhat flat 2/3s into the album.

68. Insecure Men - Insecure Men = A trippy Psychedelic album from the collaborative effort of Childhood’s Ben Romans-Hopcraft & Fat White Family’s ex-member Saul Adamczewski; offering the latter a second chance at music redemption after his drug addiction episodes.

67. OKAY KAYA - Both = A mundane but soulful Bedroom Pop album that touches on real, everyday topics such as getting an IUD and even one about naming her eventual dog Hindsight because as she would repeat over the chorus, Hindsight’s a Bitch.

66. Flasher - Constant Image = Pretty solid punk debut from the DC band, one which critics the current social and politic landscape in a smart but ultimately fun and concise manner.

65. Nas - NASIR = Probably Nas's best album since a long while as partnering with Kanye West (it’s one of the releases off Kanye’s infamous 2018 Wyoming Sessions) allows Yeezy’s infamous samples to strengthen his own unique flow bring his A-game. Wish it was an entire album length of material as it left a lot of his fans wanting so much more.

64. Years & Years - Palo Santo = The UK based Synth Pop trio lead by the super charismatic Olly Alexander builds upon the foundation of the debut album and adds subtle layers to create a solid sophomore album.

63. Cloud Nothings - Last Building Burning = Going back to his roots after the somewhat divided previous album Life without Sound, Dylan Baldi and his band produced another fantastic Post Hardcore album.

62. CHVRCHES - Love Is Dead = CHVRCHES' most 'pop' album to date, not that's it a bad thing in any way. It's their best possible attempt at trying to break through the mainstream music market by adding more instruments to their signature sound to create a fuller sound. And as always Lauren's crystal clear voice shines brightly underneath the newer, lusher sound.

61. Julia Holter - Aviary = Chamber Pop extraordinaire Julia Holter released a complex, artful and multi layered 90-minutes album that is enjoyable at most parts but at times feels cluttered and full of unnecessary noise.

60. Ashley McBryde - Girl Going Nowhere = The no frills, very straightforward debut album by the Arkansas native is one of the best Country releases of last year.

59. Bishop Nehru - Elevators: Act I & II = Produced by legendary producer MF Doom & innovator Kaytranada, the 22 year old NY rapper released a great debut album that flees like a fantastic ode to 90’s Hip Hop. His flow is old school and his spit game is fire, Bishop Nehru is one to watch out for in the future.

58. Caroline Rose - Loner = Such a unique and eclectic Indie Pop album from the raspy voiced Caroline Rose. Her witty penmanship lifts the album to a whole other lever.

57. Christine and the Queens - Chris = The self-identified pansexual Héloïse Letissier in her alter ego Christine, crafted one of the best Electropop record of the year with her backing band, the appropriately titled the Queens. With its cool, funky and 80’s inspired beats; the tracks off the album are extremely danceable even if it has a deeper message lying beneath all the glossy exterior.
