htdc is genuinely over of the most well composed pieces of media i’ve ever read. the intention behind everything and the medium in which the story is told is so so so compelling (lol) and, from a fanfic standpoint, it does such a good job at the reinvestment of the character we love after many years we the consumer missed in their lives. but from a general storytelling perspective, if this was about two completely random parties it would be just as compelling. there is a spectacularly built chemistry that is both in character for the pre-established characters and also refreshing and new enough that i feel like im watching a whole new story unfold.
