I lay on the wall, pressing the paper into the stones with my body weight. The paper is then held up to the sky, buffeted by the wind, changing it again.

Stained marble from “I long and seek after”.

Acidic orange juice over a period of several days soaked into the porous marble and irreversibly changed it.

A sister work, as yet untitled.

Rebecca Solnit, A Field Guide to Getting Lost.

Underlinings about loss, impressions of something that used to be, and memory maps I made when I first read the book last summer.

Hanging the panels in situ - deciding on placements. Using clothes pegs from my house - this is certainly not the final hang. 

Ensuring the first and second panels match up from a certain angle - the bottom map carries across both panels.

The process of ironing and then drawing on the linen panels. 

Testing my alternative to fishing line which will be used to hang the linen panels - the fishing line was too elastic no matter how taught it was pulled - so I tested an alternative of garden string.

Works well - holds weight and doesn’t bend too significantly. The appearance, despite no longer being invisible in the space, feels natural and organic and will suit the rest of my materials.

The linens have different weaves so it’s important for me to check how they behave on both options.
