Steve Harrington is starting his senior year off right. Heβs the president of Alpha Sigma Phi and determined to usher in a new season of inclusivity, starting with making a move on Eddie Munsonβthe guy heβs been crushing on for longer than heβd like to admit.

This weekβs writer spotlight feature is: @mojowitchcraft! Since the last time @mojowitchcraft/weird_witchcraft was nominated, they now have 37 fics posted to AO3 in the Stranger Things fandom and 34 of them are in the Steddie tag.
Our anonymous nominator recommends the following works by weird_witchcraft:
Acta, Non Verba
Youβre The Ultimate
It's A Match!
Must Hate Mondays
Strawberries & Cigarettes
Amy's been a super active participant in Steddie fandom spaces for years and has been contributing fic the entire time. She's written a broad range of stories - canon, post-canon, AU's, short stories, long stories, series, and everything in between. There's always something to laugh at in her works, and the stories themselves are often a great mix of poignant, introspective, character-driven explorations and interesting plots or settings.

Below the cut, @mojowitchcraft answered some questions about their writing process and some of their recommended work!
Which characterβs point of view do you prefer to write in: Eddie or Steve?
Iβm a sucker for dual POV and playing off what each character thinks / knows about whatever plot is happening. It would be more of a challenge for me to do single pov π π
Is there a character you haven't written for that you'd like to explore?
Iβd love love love to write more Robin. Iβd especially love a Robin x Vickie getting together fic because we were robbed but I struggle with her interiority! Same with Chrissy, I have a draft of a Steve x Chrissy fic that I keep chipping away on but I struggle with getting her voice right.
Do you only write Steddie? (For Stranger Things or other fandoms)
Haha sort of answered that question above. Iβm definitely a multi shipper, and love seeing what different characters bring out in each other and different dynamics that creates.
When you are planning your stories, do you go in with a word count in mind?
Not particularly! The only time Iβm really thinking of word count is when itβs for an event or something where thereβs a minimum word count. For multi chapter fics I try to get the chapters at similar lengths so it doesnβt feel uneven. Otherwise I find my one shot sweet spot is around 10k.
How has your participation/relationship to the steddie fandom changed since you were last nominated?
I feel like Iβve cultivated a great group of fandom friends that I like to talk to and hang out with online. Iβve made some new friends since I started book binding, but other than that Iβm content with my little slice of the steddie verse.
Do you think anything about your writing process or your characterization of Steve and Eddie changed since you were last nominated?
I donβt think so, I have definitely been overthinking my characterizations a lot lately and worrying about how my writing is perceived which isnβt the best practice as it puts my writing at a stand still.
What was the first steddie fic that you posted and have you reread it recently? How do you feel about it?
The first fic that i posted was Strawberries & Cigarettes, and Iβve definitely come a long way since then. I donβt love rereading my own writing much as I get a bit cringey about it hahaha I just printed and bound my body swap fic Youβre the Ultimate from 2022 and Iβve had to resist the urge to edit it.
In your last nomination, you mentioned wanting to explore time travel and soulmates. Have you had the chance to write that story?
No I havenβt unfortunately π Iβm sad to say Iβve had a hard time writing for a while. I chalk it up to being a busy mom without a lot of free time, even though I have the best intentions to write it doesnβt always happen. People reading my writing and leaving kudos and comments is always encouraging and reminds me that people like my writing enough that itβs worth it to keep on trying!
Is there another trope or idea that youβre wanting to write?
I think in the last one I also mentioned that I wanted to do werewolves and I have part of that story written so Iβd love to get that draft finished up. I also just read an incredible Byler second chance romance called Smalltown Queer by @indybaggins which makes me want to take a stab at that trope. Though it does make me quite emotional thinking about the characters pining for each other for a long time.
Are there any steddie creators (writers, artists, editors, any fandom activity) that inspire you to continue to create?
Oh god so many! Iβd love to tag them all here but that would probably result in the post being flagged for spam π€£ There are a ton of wonderful artists creating steddie art, and writers that are working on amazing fics, and Iβm always excited when I see new people join the fandom or return to their steddie obsession. I think an important part of being in an online fandom is uplifting others, sharing fics and art that you like and encouraging others in the community. This blog is a great way to do that as well!
Which of your fics would you recommend someone read to introduce them to the steddie fandom? And is there a fic written by someone else you would recommend for a first time steddie reader?
Iβve definitely gotten some of my irl friends to read my fics, mainly Strawberries and Cigarettes and No One Rides for Free, since theyβre canon adjacent so itβs not too jarring for them to slip into if theyβre fans of the show and not necessarily familiar with fandom tropes.
I will always recommend Take the Money and Run by @thisapplepielife and I Come Back To the Place You Are by @glitterfang, since theyβre my two top steddie fics and I think both are a great intro to steddie.
Did any of your fics challenge you as a writer, and in what ways?
Writing Late Bloomers with Ari @bucksgrayhairs was really fun especially for brainstorming, but challenging when we had different ideas we had to compromise on. I think it was well worth it though because Iβm really proud of that story and how it all came together.
When writing Acta, Non Verba, what was something you didnβt expect?
I kept putting it on the back burner to focus on other projects and just working on it a bit at a time until I had the bulk of the first few chapters written. I didnβt expect to stall out like I did since I was so passionate about the story, but writers block is a bitch! I will say I reread it recently and the juices are flowing again!! Hoping to have an update out soon.
What inspired Youβre The Ultimate?
That was early on in the steddie days when there was a lot of amazing post canon fic coming out but people hadnβt delved into all the tropes yet so I was really excited to write a bodyswap fic since there werenβt many at the time.
What was your favorite part to write from It's A Match!?
I wrote that for my friend Nex @batmunson666 so i was just giggling and having fun the entire time. It was neat to explore writing a texting / sexting fic, and also figuring out how to code the html for the tinder messaging to look authentic.
How do/did you feel writing Must Hate Mondays?
That was another very silly fic, inspired by art i kept seeing of Eddie with various Garfield things. My friend Becca @glitterfang drew Eddie wearing a Garfield bathing suit that went viral on twitter (lovingly called a garfkini) and then I was like⦠okay how can I craft a story where Eddie is wearing this thing. And then I reached out to a bunch of artists asking if I could include their work too.
Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?
Iβm not really a prose writer, some fics have devastatingly beautiful lines that are like a gut punch, but most of the lines I remember the most from my own work are funny bits of dialogue and interactions between the characters.
Do you have any upcoming projects or fics youβd like to share/promote?
Outside of these questions, Is there anything YOU would like to add?
Thank you for another nomination, itβs so appreciated π Sending love to all the Steddies out there around the world, this community has created some amazing works and I just love our two boys so much, Iβll never be free of them. Catch me at the nursing home reading Steddie smut in extra large font on my tablet π§
