Today I donated two valuable vintage Japanese Kotos to @musicinschoolstoday as part of their program where kids explore the plethora of different types of instruments out there in the world. These have been in our family for 30 years and I took lessons for about a year. Since 1986, this blessed urn has collected incense ash from my mother's prayers. Among the last things I needed to do before true transcendence was to empty this urn. I dreamt of this day since her passing; to allow this ash to return to the Earth; to return it's blessings back to the Mother. And for me to start anew. 36 years.... I consider the idea in that in time all things turn to Ash; but what if this ash was a collection of time itself. This was a terribly difficult endeavor, as I contemplated that this was the ash of my mother herself. No. Celebrate the release and the letting go of, as passionately as you would celebrate a beginning.
