“It’ll be our secret,” Kitty winked, putting a finger to Marley’s lips.  “I’d never have been this romantic with anyone else, so you’re the only one who gets to see that side of me.”  Smiling, she stole one more kiss.  “That’s exactly what I like to hear.”  She patted Marley’s thigh and slid off the bed to cross the room - not a long walk, but too far from her girlfriend for Kitty’s liking - before opening the newly-organized toy drawer to find the harness she liked.  It went on quickly, and she climbed back up on the bed once more.  “But first,” her grin was only a little bit evil, “I want to kiss every bit of you.”

“I love you too, Mar,” Kitty smiled, stealing another kiss.  “Forever and ever.  This life, with you, it’s all I ever wanted.  We could be living in a box as long as I had you.”  Kitty let her hands roam over Marley’s body as she thought that over.  “Maybe just on your back?  I thought maybe I’d get the strap on if that’s okay with you - and I want to watch your face while I love you.”

Kitty smiled.  “I’m proud of you too, Mars.  And us.  It was a long ride for both of us, but we got each other through.  And I wish we could do that too, but we’ll get there.  For now we need to put in the work, and it’ll pay off later - and we’ll enjoy every minute we have together in the meantime.  And speaking of,” her eyes lit up with an evil gleam.  “I think it’s my turn to have my way with you.”

“Those were all really good too,” Kitty hummed with pleasure at the kiss.  Marley’s body felt like it was meant to be molded to hers, and they could have laid there forever without it ever feeling any other way.  “But this one is just…it’s us, you know?  We’re here.  We made it out, and we’re celebrating in our little shoebox just the way we dreamed of.  I’m,” she sniffled a little, trying not to be too sappy.  “I’m just…happy.  Content.  And so loved.”

Kitty took a deep breath once her mouth was clear, chuckling at Marley’s praise.  “Honestly, so am I.  It was so good I think every part of my body shut off except for where you were, so I didn’t have any way to make more noise.  “Come lay with me for a sec, babe.”  She scooted over and looked adoringly at her girlfriend.  “I really, really love you.  This is my favorite birthday.”

It was the eye contact that did it - Kitty hadn’t been expecting Marley to look up at her, but the sight of those beautiful eyes threw her straight over the edge.  She tried to keep her fingers from tightening too much in her hair as the moans she’d been letting out became a long, keening cry only barely quieted by Marley’s underwear.  Her back arched deeply and her eyes fell closed, and when she collapsed against the bed a moment later Kitty felt as if she’d run a marathon.  “Mmmph,” she exclaimed, reaching for Marley with grabby hands.

Unable to help the smile that lit up her face Marley leaned down to peck Kitty’s lips once more. “Patience baby,” she hummed, bringing their lips together one last time Marley playfully tugged on Kitty’s lip with her teeth, the moment she had pulled away she playfully, but gently still stuffed her underwear into Kitty’s mouth. 

“So worth it,” Kitty breathed, her brain trying frantically to find words and shorting out all over again as Marley strutted across the room.  She was a vision in red lace, a color that had always made her look particularly beautiful, and Kitty was struck all over again by how damned lucky she was to have such a beautiful woman who loved her.  “So fucking worth it,” she licked her lips.  “Happy birthday to me…”

That look, through thick lashes, made Kitty’s knees shake.  She wanted to do everything and anything, for every moment of her birthday that was left, and trying to decide what to do first was all but impossible.  Reaching out, she cupped Marley’s breast through the lace and traced circles around her nipple with one finger.  “Before,” she pleaded.  “I don’t know if I’ve ever needed you more than I need you right now.”  A playful smile tugged at her lips.  “You should probably find a way to keep the whole building from hearing me, though…”

Giggling a little Marley gently wrapped her arms around Kitty’s shoulders, tilting her head to bring their foreheads together. Sighing softly in content at the contact to her chest, she arched her back ever so slightly to be closer to Kitty’s touch. “I’m sure I can think of something,” she mused, an almost wicked smirk settling over her lips as she leaned down to bring their lips together, teasingly nibbling on Kitty’s lower lip before pulling away from her. 

Reaching down she took her hands, leading her over to the bed. She smirked slightly, quickly switching their positions and playfully pushing Kitty down on to the mattress. Leaning down she placed her hands on either side of Kitty, tilting her head as she started leaving open mouthed kisses from her neck, across her collar bone, over her breasts, which she took a moment kiss and flick her tongue against Kitty’s nipples, since they were her favourite thing.

“I did, but we didn’t set a date or anything so you probably don’t need to rush out and buy an outfit tomorrow,” Kitty teased.  “And I’m sure you’ll manage, but he’d probably laugh if you told him.”  It might actually make the night more fun, and she wondered whether there was a way she could guarantee Marley said something.

The shower was like everything else in their apartment - small, but good enough.  Kitty stripped off and started the water, giving it a minute to warm up before she stuck her hand under.  A few turns of the hot water later, she finally nodded and stepped under.  It wouldn’t go down as her longest shower by any means, but she was clean and wrapped in a warm towel as she made her way back to the bedroom a few minutes later.  The closed door was a surprise, but she made her way inside and closed it behind her - only for the towel to drop as she caught sight of Marley on the bed.  “Holy…god…” she managed in a choked voice.  “I…wow.”

Tilting her head towards the door Marley almost snorted at Kitty’s reaction but she managed to hold it in and just gave her an innocent smile instead. “Told you it would be worth it,” she mused, slowly sitting up she swung her legs off the side of the bed before standing up, sauntering her way over to Kitty she paused in front of her, slowly brushing her fingertips along Kitty’s biceps.

“Oh, he could definitely do that,” Kitty laughed.  “But he’s been really nice the couple of times I talked to him - we got talking last time the door had to get fixed, and he was asking whether we wanted to have dinner with him and his boyfriend one night.”  She’d been so charmed that she’d even agreed, although it hadn’t happened yet.  “Clearly I taught you too well,” Kitty smiled, getting up and sneaking one more kiss.  “I’ll be back in a few minutes for that present!”

“Really? Aw that is really sweet...Did you say yes? Because if so I’ll have to find an outfit...And think of a way not to tell him that he scares me” she pointed out, giggling. Returning the kiss she smiled, giving Kitty a small thumbs up. The moment the bathroom door was closed and she heard the shower Marley gave Scout a small grin. “I’ll give you treats tomorrow, because I know you are going to pout about having to stay out here,” she commented, petting the dog for a moment before hurrying into the bedroom. 

“How come?  Was he rude to you?  I’ll kick his butt,” Kitty warned, knowing that the super was a foot taller and a good hundred pounds heavier than she was - but if he bothered Marley, she’d do her best.  Goosebumps rose on her arms and legs, and she couldn’t help a little moan as Marley found a sensitive spot.  “You play dirty, Rose.  But okay - I’ll go shower.”

“I’ll show you how she likes it,” Kitty waggled her eyebrows.  “Once you figure the trick out, you’ll never have a problem again.  But if it you ever do get locked out and I’m going to be late, then call the super.  That’s what he’s here for, and better that than you having a panic attack.”  She thought that over for a minute before unleashing her secret weapon - a pout, and puppy dog eyes.

Kitty chuckled softly, patting Marley’s back.  “It wouldn’t be a big deal, I’m pretty good at fixing it by now.  But I’ll definitely show you later - the door’s like me, she’s kind of a bitch but you just need to show her some love.”  Her girlfriend’s little touches managed to make her feel warm and safe, but turn her on at the same time.  “Those are all really good options.  I should probably shower, because it’s been a long day, but I don’t think I can turn down the chance to get my present.”  She didn’t expect anything big, and whatever Marley had done for her would be amazing.

“Gross,” Kitty laughed with a shake of her head.  “But as long as your brain went to cute instead of horrifying, then I’m happy enough.  And the idea of all those cupcakes really makes me not care if I was drooling or not.”  Marley’s teasing made her laugh again, and she nodded.  “Yeah, the birthday thing seems more likely.”  Letting herself be led across the room, Kitty looked into Marley’s eyes as their heads rested together.  “I’m sad we couldn’t do that either, but we’ll just have to make up for it tonight.”  Scout tried to steal her spot, but fortunately Marley noticed before they sat on the dog.  “I should hope so, because I know I love you the most.  Every time I come home to our little apartment and hit the door so it opens properly, I’m happy because I know you’re on the other side.”

Kitty’s cheek was warm where Marley’s lips had touched, and she couldn’t wipe the smile from her face.  “I must have really been out, the smell alone should have woke me up.”  She pursed her lips and blew gently until the flame was snuffed out, leaning happily into the kiss.  “Thank you, love.  This is definitely the best thing to come home to.”  Kitty slid her shoes off and put them aside before taking one of Marley’s hands in hers.  “Really good, actually.  School was good, and even work was bearable.  Someone must have told them it was my birthday.  How about you?” she leaned in to steal another kiss.  “Did you have a good day?”
