The fact that Mockbirth are from Greece makes Eskimo an entirely more veracious proposition entirely, encapsulating not only the feeling in Athens but an entire nation struggling to get up off its knees. As the down-tempo bass-lines and sinister percussion gloomily go about their business, the contempt of Ted Reglis' acid tongue on lines like 'Oh, the air's so common, it's a pity / If I could I would buy it off of this fucking city' leaves a lasting, uneasy impression.

Picture an abandoned underground station, with its scattered rubble and post-war propaganda posters that peel at the corners each time a distant echo of life travels through the nearby dissonant wasteland. This is where Mockbirth dwell, architects of the underbelly, manipulating their down-tempo trip-hop vibes to make ancient dust shiver off rusty metal pipes in the hope that enough accumulates to cause a zephyr. 'Thrall' is everything this particularly urban genre can stir, without the cliches.
